1 RCPION CHIDRN SR IN NIVIY Reception eetles, umblebees and adybirds took centre stage this week as they each performed Christmas Nativity ableāux in front of fellow students and their parents. udiences were treated to wonderful renditions of some classical Christmas ableau songs including ittle Donkey and way in a Manger. here was also some fantastic dancing on show as the children displayed some brilliant waving of arms and shaking of hips! here was even some bouncing as the sheep jumped on a springboard! ll the children were fantastic, singing beautifully, remembering their lines and delivering them very clearly. hey all looked brilliant in their fantastic costumes. lot of credit needs to go to Mrs Moses, Mr rthur, Mrs Crossingham and the rest of the staff who organised the ableāux as they were superb. 2 VICORIN DY: H FU SORY On Friday 9th December both Year 6 classes were transported back to the Victorian era and experienced a day of Victorian activities and met figures from the period. In the morning the teachers rang the bell and the children lined up and had a fingernail inspection to make sure they had clean nails. When they entered the class they had to take their hats off, stand up and say good morning to their teachers, in fact they had to stand up every time a staff member entered the room as respect was very important in the Victorian era. If they children didn t show respect to the teachers they had to wear the dunce hat, 6 children had to wear it on Friday! he children also tried gruel which they said was horrible! hey then carried out some writing exercises, firstly in their exercise books writing out some old phrases then switching to slates with chalk which they found really strange. hey also did some copperplate writing which looked really impressive. Next they tried technical drawing which they found challenging as they had to do all the measurements and angles. he girls also tried their hands at sewing. oth classes then had a visit from some Victorian figures including a Nurse, a Maid, a ritish rmy Captain and Queen Victoria herself! he children asked Queen Victoria about topics including her coronation. he children were honoured to meet her majesty and the other characters. t break time the children were given some Victorian toys to play with which they enjoyed as they are so different to what they have nowadays. In the afternoon children carried out drills in the hall which included arm and leg exercises which the children found fairly easy. hey were then taught how to pronounce words in the correct Victorian way and some tongue twisters like she sells sea shells by the sea shore. he children thoroughly enjoyed experiencing their trip into the Victorian era but after seeing how difficult it could be they were glad to come back to the 21st century! 3 YR 6 OYS RVY IN OROUGH FOO FINS On uesday, 13 th December, the Christ Church year 6 football team took part in the orough finals held at Chessington Community College. 28 teams took part in the first round and Christ Church qualified for the finals with ease. 8 teams battled it out over the course of 7 games and our team had a brilliant start, winning their first three games. Sadly, this good fortune did not last and we lost the remaining 4 games. he team was truly amazing and battled hard in every game but luck was against them and they lost by the narrowest of margins. Mrs Maher was incredibly impressed by the team s attitude both in victory and defeat. hey showed themselves to be excellent sportsmen and their tenacity is to be celebrated. CHRIS PRIMRY H 6 SCHR S GNIUS GINGRRD CRIONS! On Wednesday, 14 th December, Year 6 scher held a competition to see who could decorate the best gingerbread house. here was a great deal of hilarity and an awful lot of icing used. Several of the houses came to a very sticky end and the eventual winners showed themselves to be a great team with lots of creativity.
