2 What s up everyone! Welcome to another amazing day here at the Way Station! If this is your first time here, you came at just the right time because not only is it our last week in our series Drumline, but it s also our BACK TO SCHOOL BASH! I know what you re thinking, Why are we celebrating that we re in school? What some of you may not realize is that in some countries, people don t always have the opportunity to go to school, let alone go to school for free. So we are so grateful for what God is doing in our lives, allowing us to get an education and learn, that we want to celebrate your first week back at school. But don t worry; we won t have any pop quizzes or cold, school lunch broccoli. ELEM Drumline WK 4 (1) The only condition we have today is that you have fun! Let s start our time off with prayer! Lead Kids in Prayer Drumline_Game Now, we all know that school food can be a hit or miss. Whether your school serves mystery meat or yummy pizza on Friday, there is one-thing schools always serve vegetables! For our Back to School Bash, I want to help to prepare you for whatever veggies come your way this year. Let s see if you can identify the close ups on these vegetables! Let s play Name that Veggie! I think you re ready to face whatever veggie comes on your tray! Drumline_Lesson We have such an incredible story for you today, and you ll be happy to know that no mystery meat was injured in the making of this video we re about to watch. But in order to understand our story, we need to go over a few things. Does anyone remember who David was? (David is the one who defeated Goliath) Yes, this was the same David who relied on God s power to take down Goliath with a single stone in his sling. It s the same David that Samuel anointed as the next king. But even though David had been anointed as Israel s next king, Saul was still on the throne. ELEM Drumline WK 4 (4)

4 David had become close friends with Saul s son, Jonathan. David even married Saul s daughter! All of this was happening while David was becoming a national hero! And Saul didn t like it. In fact, Saul became more and more jealous of David so jealous that Saul plotted to kill him. Check it out! Drumline_Wk 4_Bible Story_Video It must have seemed strange to David s soldiers that he wasn t willing to take out Saul when he had the chance. After all, God had said that David was supposed to be king anyway! So wouldn t he just be helping God out? Well, not so fast. David knew something we all need to remember: God is in charge. ELEM Drumline WK 4 (5) And since God is in charge, that meant He had put Saul in charge. And that also meant God had a plan for making David king. David knew something that you and I can know too: that we can trust God no matter what. So along with trusting God, David knew that meant He had to respect God and the people God had put in charge. That s because Drumline_Wk 4_Bottom Line_Slide LEM Drumline WK 4 (6) Lead Kids in Prayer Dear God, thank You for the story of David that reminds us that YOU are in charge of everything. And that means when we respect the people You ve put in charge of us in our daily lives, we re respecting You. Help us respect everyone You ve put in charge of us, even when it s hard. We love You, and we pray this in Jesus name, amen! ELEM Drumline WK 4 (7) Lead Kids in Prayer Dear God, thank You for the story of David that reminds us that YOU are in charge of everything. And that means when we respect the people You ve put in charge of us in our daily lives, we re respecting You. Help us respect everyone You ve put in charge of us, even when it s hard. With that being said, it s very important to go back to school with the right supplies! We ve going to make sure we are all set with our school supplies with a game called Pack it Up!
