1 2015 World Championships Congratulations to the Canadian Women s Artistic Gymnastics team who earned Canada a spot at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro! Ontario s Sydney Townsend (Revolution Gymnastics) helped the Canadian squad take seventh place with a total score of over the Netherland s Good Luck to the athletes who are vying for a spot on Team Canada! 2 Page 2 of 5 December 2015 Qualifiers: Session A Qualifiers Thank you to Rose City, Futures, Twisters, Pickering and Burlington for hosting the Session A qualifiers this season. As we gear up for the remainder of Provincial Qualifiers, there are a few things we would like you to remember: Withdrawals Please communicate all withdrawals as soon as possible to the host clubs (and copy the Women s Program Manager at wag@gymnasticsontario.ca) so that all changes can be made to athlete draws. Level Changes An athlete can move up or down one level up to two weeks after competing at their first qualifier. After that deadline, athletes can only move up 1 level. Please review Mobility in the Technical Rules and Regulations Athletes for more information. Form must be filled out and submitted by club. Make- Up Qualifiers Petition Process There are no refunds or transferable monies for athletes who have missed a qualifier but a qualifier can be made up due to: medical reasons, other gymnastics commitments and extenuating circumstances through the Petition Process found in the Technical Rules and Regulations Section C. Make up Petitions will be granted on a first come first serve basis and availability of space. The Petition Application can be found on the website Forms>Forms for Competition. Clubs are able to request which qualifier they would prefer to attend as a make- up qualifier and every effort will be made to accommodate the request based on the registered numbers at that qualifier. Granted petitions will be required to send $80.00 (non- refundable) payable directly to the host club. Refunds Refunds will be granted at the end of the season for any athlete that has not competed in ANY of the three qualifiers. Refunds for those athletes eligible must submit a request to the Women s Program Manager no later than 2 weeks after the last qualifier. Floor Competitions Reminder that we are transitioning to floor music being played from CDs to using mp3/thumb- drives/ipods, etc. for playing athlete s floor music. Hosts are expected to be able to play music through a thumb- drive (laptop) or an auxiliary cable as well as CDs. It is encouraged that host clubs have the above methods available, however it is also recommended that coaches have the correct cable for their music playing device as there are many different possibilities to play music.

The rationale for the age groupings was to allow the following percentage of participants to qualify and participate in Ontario Championships this season as well as considering Team Ontario selection for Easterns and Canadians. For Level 3-5 the approximately 60% of athletes per category qualifying to its respective Ontario Championships and in Level 6-10 approximately 50% of athletes will qualify per category where possible. The categories for the Level 6-10 have already started and been set up in these categories. Invitationals should be following these level & age groupings as well. Please note: the combining and splitting of age categories as per the Technical Rules and Regulations still applies Ontario Championships (Level 3-5 and Level 6-10) Level 3-5: Top 40 All- Around athletes (in each group below) Level 6-10: Top 32 All- Around athletes and Top 8 Event Finals (same as previous years) Rules: USAG JO and GO Technical Rules and Regulations This is an exciting year for Ontario Championships with the first Level 3-5 Ontario Championship. To maximize participation at this event and achieve the above 60% there could be more than one session of each age group. For example, Level 3 Age 9 has three divisions so the top 120 will qualify and they will be split into thirds evenly by birth date to make three sessions and will result in three Ontario Champions.
