1 December 2012 The first annual Bonham Festival of Flight was held on Saturday, November 3rd and was a huge success! It was a day filled with fun, food, and entertainment. There were airplane rides for the children, parachutes, an air show, and several booths to stroll thru. The pilots and parachute team were on hand all day for pictures and answering questions. Steven Murden and his team did a great job organizing this event. Everyone from 1 to 100 enjoyed the day tremendously. If you were unable to attend this year, start making plans now for next year s event.

2 2012 Board of Directors OFFICERS Milton Glenn, Chairman John Farris, Chair Elect Stephen Murden, Treasurer Judy Keene, Secretary DIRECTORS Randy Pendergrass Friday, December 7th is the date of the 2012 Bonham Chamber Christmas Parade. The theme this year is A Victorian Christmas. The parade will begin at 6:00 pm. We have about 40 entries, so it will be a great parade. Certificates will be given to the top three floats in the Commercial and Non-Commercial categories. Commercial entries include all businesses and industry in the area. Non-Commercial entries include all school groups, youth groups, and non-profit organizations. The parade route will be from 6th Street and Main Street, south to Sam Rayburn Drive, then east to Center Street, and north up Center Street to 9th Street. The line-up time for the parade is 5:00 pm across from First Christian Church. Judging will be from 5:00 5:30 pm so all entries must be in place by 5:00 pm. Santa will be on the last parade float. Following the parade, Santa will be at the Creative Arts Center. The 2012 Christmas Parade is sponsored by the Bonham Area Chamber of Commerce. See you there! 3 Welcome to our new employee at the Bonham Area Chamber of Commerce, Inga Posey. She will work in the office from noon till 5:00 pm. Inga is a native Texan who grew up in Houston. There, she worked in the graphic arts & marketing fields for a book publisher and a large oil & gas company. After moving to Dallas in the 1980s she began her career as an Advertising Executive and began her family. Soon after leaving her job to stay home and raise her children (a son & daughter), she also began her interior design business (HOME by design), which is still an active passion. In 2000, she and her husband, Kevin, moved to Bonham. After 2 years of hard work restoring their 1920 s home, Inga took the job as Director of the Creative Arts Center and enjoyed many happy years there following its grand opening. She is a visual artist who later opened her own Modern Art Gallery and Coffee Bar/Café on our town square (Frenzee s). Frenzee s gallery is no longer in business, but is still an important part of her life as an artist, as she creates and takes custom orders for the funky, cheerful re-born furniture, accessories and artful expressions known well in the area. Inga s children are now grown and she & Kevin are proud grandparents of three beautiful little girls. She has served as both employee and volunteer for many boards and non-profits throughout her life, including our own Fannin Community Foundation the American Heart Association s Dallas fundraising event, The Dallas heart Ball. She is looking forward to a great new year with Bonham s chamber as she meets and assists all of our amazing members. By: Judy Keene

4 Wow! If you missed the Ribbon Cutting for N Dulge Chocolates you missed a great experience. A chocolate lovers dream! There were samples of all their chocolates as well as their other items. There were homemade breads, salsa, many different kinds of syrups, dips, and chocolates. I tried really hard to sample everything but there was just too much for me to try it all without having to have help getting to my car. However, I did give it my best shot! If you haven t been by to see them yet, stop by and N Dulge! The Ribbon Cutting was on Friday, November 16th at 9:00 am. They have a beautiful facility with lots of delicious items to choose from. They do many different kinds of gift baskets and will ship to anywhere. They will also prepare beautiful table centerpieces or place settings for all of your holiday parties. Stay for a few nights and enjoy the charming downtown as well as some spectacular Texas Day Trips, but be forewarned; no one can seem to stay only a day. Some of the highlights of what Marble Falls has to offer: Several nearby lakes Explore the Texas wilderness with acres of hiking and biking trails Spend a sunny day tasting at some of the finest wineries in Texas Stroll through the Main Street District for excellent shopping and rich Texas history Sample from the plethora of local restaurants Groove to live music or theatrical performances after the sun sets. The 22nd Annual Marble Falls Walkway of Lights opened on November 16th and will run until January 1st. The display will be illuminated each evening from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Concessions and Photos with Santa will be available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Admission is free, but donations are graciously accepted. No pets please. If you re in need of a mini vacation, Marble Falls is a great place to visit. It s a beautiful spot for just resting but also has many fun activities to choose from when you re all rested up.
