A special thank you to Jeff and Rickie Pollard and Cynthia and Brian Attebury for all you did to make the Annual Burrell Park Campout and Trunk or Treat events a huge success. I would also like to thank the Carmi Fire Department, the Property Shop, People s National Bank, Botsch and Associates, Hamilton Memorial Clinic, Ferrell Hospital Carmi Clinic, Wabash Christian Village, Carmi Manor, Lion s Club, Elk s Lodge and the Crossville Prizewinners 4H Club for participating in the City of Carmi / Chamber of Commerce Trunk or Treat. Now that Halloween is over I am diving straight into White Co. Christmas, and there is lots of information in this newsletter about it including information on the Retailer s Open House this weekend, entering the Christmas Parade, the window decorating contest, Santa House hours and the current schedule of events. As I have mentioned, if you don t see an event that should be included please let me know ASAP so I can get it on the calendar! Thank you all for your support to the Chamber. The Carmi Chamber of Commerce is once again planning a lighted Christmas parade to welcome Santa to White County at 5:30p.m. on December 1st, Instead of having a specific theme for this year s White County Christmas, we have decided to let you get creative with how you show your holiday spirit! The only thing we ask is that Santa not be a part of your entry, so we can officially welcome him at the end of the parade. Floats and walking units of all sizes are welcome to join in the fun! The parade route and line up information will be sent to you should you choose to participate. Final details will be mailed to everyone returning an entry form and publicized through the local media. Your entries do not have to be elaborate. Even church choirs walking through singing would be a great addition to this year s parade. Please, come join us! A copy of the parade entry form is attached to this . Please fill it out and return it via to chamber@cityofcarmi.com by November 26th.

9 MEMBER NEWS PAGE 9 More Than $1,000 Raised for SIC Archery at Zombie Shoot Nearly 60 participants turned out to test their zombie killing skills at the first ever Archery Zombie Shoot at Southeastern Illinois College, hosted by the Falcon Archery Team. The event was held at the Indoor Archery Center and the Outdoor Archery Range on SIC's Harrisburg campus Oct. 19 and 20. More than $1,000 was raised for the SIC Archery Team and SIC Foundation. A total of 15 zombie targets were set for archers to shoot. Archers ranged in ages from 8 to 60. Some participants were Saline County locals while others traveled from Evansville, Indiana, and as far as Massachusetts and Vermont. Archers were sent out in groups with their own trained archery student guide to shoot the zombies. Participants could choose to shoot during either the daylight or dark hours. The closest archer to the designated "kill zone' on the zombie, Undead Fred, for the money shoot was Roger Heffington of Junction. He took home over $100 for the win. "I was so glad to see people of all ages out having fun and shooting their bows. The archery team had a blast dressing up and helping work the shoot. We were thankful for such a good turnout and are looking forward to next year's event!" said head archery coach, Alli Armstrong. Due to the turnout of participants, the SIC Archery Team is planning to continue the event next year. The date is to be determined but will continue to be held in October. 12 UPCOMING MEMBER EVENTS PAGE 12 Hamilton Memorial Foundation to Host 19 th Annual Dinner Hamilton Memorial Hospital Foundation will host its 19 th annual Foundation Dinner on Saturday, November 17. Dinner will be held at the Hamilton County Senior High School with seating and silent auction beginning at 5:00 p.m. and the dinner beginning at 6:00 p.m. The support our area has given over the years has been overwhelming and allowed the hospital and family clinics to grow into modern facilities with the latest medical equipment and technology. Our hospital would not be the hospital it is today without the generous past support of the communities we serve, said Victoria Woodrow, Hamilton Memorial Hospital District CEO. The evening will include piano entertainment, silent auction, dinner, and short program. Individual tickets can be purchased in advance for $50 or dinner sponsorship are available for $250; $500; $1,000; $2,500; and $5,000. Donations are tax deductible. With the leadership of our Foundation board and the support of our communities, we ve funded a new state-of-the-art 64-slice CT scanner, bariatric hospital beds, and IV infusion pumps. These lifesaving pieces of equipment are used thousands of times every year and are central to the work we do, explained Woodrow. Proceeds for this year s dinner will be used toward the purchase a new cardiac monitoring system for the facility. Nov. 12 The Eldorado Middle School Art Exhibit opens in the George T. Dennis Visual & Performing Arts Center lobby. This show runs through January 11 with a reception on December 2 at 1 p.m. in the Art Gallery. The SIC Art Gallery is open Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. 4:30 p.m. and admission is free.
