2 Minute Musings By Amanda Scott This will be my last column as this coming Monday I will begin my new job as the CVB Program Manager. Even though I m staying in the same office space, working with the same people and the same boss, I can t help but feel slightly sad. I m looking forward to the opportunity to work for the CVB but for now, my heart belongs to the Chamber, who gave me my start in this town. I m also stretching out of my comfort zone. I ve gotten very used to my position with the Chamber and so many of my tasks I can do on auto-pilot now. This will put me in a spot where I ll have to ask lots of questions and there will be plenty of trial and error before I get things right. Yikes! Let s just hope I can do as well as my predecessor, Evanne, who I m really going to miss. I ve enjoyed writing this column for E-News and for those of you who read it; I hope you ve enjoyed it as well. Life is about change and challenges and so even though I struggle with change (I think most of us do) I m up for the challenge of learning something new and broadening my horizon. I ll still be around and I m pretty sure I ll be at the Chamber events since those have become integral to my schedule. The only difference is I won t be the one with the camera. Perhaps I should have thought about that before taking the CVB job. I do love that camera! ;) The Chamber has been good to me and I m honored to have worked for this organization. The switch to the CVB is going to take some adjustment but I m ready for the challenge! Just don t judge me if you call the CVB and I mistakenly answer Liberty County Chamber of Commerce the first couple of weeks. Happy Friday!!
3 0 Business After Hours The American Red Cross hosted our Business After Hours for March and last night was another successful event! This area s Red Cross was founded on St. Patrick s Day in We got to eat birthday cake and the food was generously donated by Walmart. Members also got the chance to play Red Cross bingo by asking other people questions about emergency preparedness and disaster trivia. Everyone had lots of fun and we are proud to have the American Red Cross as one of our members. They are there to care for victims of disaster, provide services to our military men and women and stock blood supplies. Thank you to everyone who came out last night and especially to those who donate to the Red Cross! For more information, visit the American Red Cross at See more pictures from last night on our Facebook page!

5 M2M Discount Spotlight This year, each of our businesses that purchased a premium spot on the back of the M2M card will be highlighted in our E-News, social media and Chamber events. GeoVista Credit Union and H&R Block are both in the spotlight for March. Take a look at the flyers for each business on this page and then present your M2M card to take advantage of the savings! Thank you to GeoVista Credit Union and H&R Block for offering these discounts and participating in our M2M program! Remember to Shop Local, Shop Liberty! The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce is entering the fourth year of our successful Member to Member Discount Program. With over 90 members participating, business to business relationships are at the core of our mission. With this program members can provide special offers and discounts directly to other members and their employees. All members of the Chamber receive a membership card when they join, as well as one for each employee. Members also have access to a full list of discounts on the Chamber s website The discount cards, when flashed at participating member businesses, save money instantly on purchases. The main purpose of the card is to verify membership in order to receive discounts. Participating businesses this year will also be given a plaquard to display as a way to prompt people to remember their discounts. We encourage you to choose a discount or offer that is appropriate to your business, 10% off any item or a specialty item in your shop; 10% off of services for a first time customer; 15% off a first contract for services; a free visit for consultation; or a discounted rate for monthly services. These are just some examples of what you can do. To join the M2M Program please contact the Chamber office today at or brandy@libertycounty.org. Our goal is to keep more of Liberty County dollars in Liberty County, so Shop Local, Shop Liberty! Discover a new way to shop, support and save by taking advantage of this awesome program!
