1 Welcome We are elated that you are considering Bayside Clubs at Manatee Bay. Bayside Clubs is an Extended Learning Opportuni9es Program (ELOP) available through the partnership of ASP and Manatee Bay Elementary. We regard the development and implementa9on of extracurricular ac9vi9es and clubs as a posi9ve and meaningful contribu9on to the lives of our students. A child s educa9on does not take place only in the classroom, during regular school hours. Hence, school sponsored aierschool ac9vi9es can be an invaluable sejng for a child s con9nued personal and academic growth. Bayside Clubs provide students with the following: Opportuni9es to develop socially through engaging ac9vi9es which develop and strengthen character, leadership skills and social skills. Par9cipa9on in mul9ple forms of co- curricular ac9vi9es involving common interests of club members. Days and Times of Club Mee9ngs Winter Session of Bayside Clubs begins on Monday, January 4, Clubs can meet on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays between the hours of 2:00 3:30p.m. Drama will con9nue to meet on Fridays from 2:00-4:30. Cost Eight week club sessions are per child. There is a 10% discount for addi9onal siblings. Clubs meet the weeks of January 4 th March 7 th. The amount is due the day of registra9on. If paying by check please make your check payable to ASP. Arrival/Dismissal Students are dismissed to the cafeteria on their club mee9ng days. Bayside Clubs begins at 2:00p.m. Mrs. Vital and paraprofessionals will stay with the children un9l the club sponsor arrives at 2:30p.m. Each club will have a check- in and check- out notebook. Upon the students arrival, the paraprofessionals will take a_endance and mark the students absent or present on the a_endance sheets. Teachers also take a_endance again prior to the start of Clubs. Students will be released only to adults listed on the student s Bayside Clubs Registra1on Form. Students who are not picked up at the end of club mee9ng sessions- 3:30p.m., must be picked up in the front office. Parents will be charged an addi9onal fee if this occurs. A@erschool Programs Please note that Bayside Clubs are separate from ASP. Both programs have separate fees. Parents who are not able to pick up their students from clubs by 3:30p.m. may pay for their child to a_end ASP. Cheerleading is not just about pompoms. Our cheerleading class is taught in a fun, exci9ng, child- centered environment. In this non- compe99ve course, students learn cheers, chants and a choreographed dance rou9ne. Fundamental skills such as kicks, jumps, arm mo9ons and basic stunts are incorporated in the curriculum, allowing students to progress to more advanced skill sets each season. Join in on the fun! First of all, playing chess can be a lot of fun. Addi9onally, it is a great opportunity to learn to play chess, to improve as a player and to socialize with others who enjoy a common interest. Learning to play chess also benefits students by teaching them to plan, to respond to challenges and to think analy9cally. Show your crea9vity as you build LEGO crea9ons! Each week will offer your child a chance to use their minds to create masterpieces. There will be building challenges, free explora9on and 9me for Show- N- Tell. This is the ideal class for any LEGO- maniac! In this Robo9cs course, students are invited to explore curiosity- driven ac9vi9es. A large, eclec9c assortment of materials, tools, and technologies are provided for the students to use as they explore and create. Students will be 9nkering, building, rebuilding, and engineering their own crea9ons! You will design robots to accomplish assigned tasks, challenges, and obstacles. Our mission is to get kids "off their couches" and into their running shoes! Our desire is to help kids develop a life9me love for running and a healthy lifestyle. The boost in self- esteem is a natural spin off and runners of all abili9es leave the program with a greater belief in themselves. While improving their physical well being, students are able to par9cipate in running games, 9me trials, and races both formal and informal. We offer a fantas9c chance to improve on football skills in a fun and enjoyable way. The club is open to boys and girls of all abili9es. Readers Theater is an integrated approach for involving students in reading, wri9ng, listening, and speaking ac9vi9es. This is a wonderful technique for helping readers learn to read aloud with expression. Readers Theater mo9vates reluctant readers and provides fluent readers with the opportunity to explore genre and characteriza9on. Who knew cans, buckets and bins could sound so good? Rhythm Rascals provides kids an opportunity to integrate aspects of elementary music with physical educa9on. It gives our students a way to express themselves and open their minds to be crea9ve and energized by using drum tables, drum buckets, and mallet percussion. Ever wonder how Angry Birds was made? It's all in the code! Come and learn the ins and outs of coding! Are you ready Coders? Come design, create and solve various coding challenges using Code.org, Tynker, Scratch and Lightbot coding programs. Join us for a hour of cookie BAKING and decora9ng FUN! We will make our own cookies and royal icing. We will learn how to make and decora9ve cookies just like you see on TV. Even if you have never heard of a piping bag, everyone leaves having fun & with yummy cookies. Volleyball is an excellent sport that allows for physical ac9vity as well as teamwork. Kids will work on agility skills to help with movement and endurance within the court. Players will learn serving, sejng, hijng, spiking, and bumping skills. It helps children to focus and concentrate in school to get be_er grades. The kids will go through a series of poses and postures leaving them feel stronger, more flexible, confident, and relaxed! In this Robo9cs course, students are invited to explore curiosity- driven ac9vi9es. A large, eclec9c assortment of materials, tools, and technologies are provided for the students to use as they explore and create. Students will be 9nkering, building, rebuilding, and engineering their own crea9ons! You will design robots to accomplish assigned tasks, challenges, and obstacles. Come play board games, 9nker toys, marble maze, and build with Playdough and Legos aier school. Learning to play games teaches sportsmanship, literacy skills, math skills, and communica9on. But most of all it s FUN! We help them have even more fun with our huge selec9on of kids crais! Whether they enjoy fashion, arts and crais, jewelry, sketching, music or more. Come, create and leave the mess to us! Prac9ce catching, kicking, throwing, basic sports moves, tricks, agility, game rules and strategies; all while learning the rules of Flag Football! Kids of all levels are welcome. It is important for players to be able to work together with teammates and respect opponents. Go over strategies for how to do well as a player and as a team. Do you enjoy photography, arts and crais, and scrapbooking? We will meet weekly and use your photos to create wonderful scrapbooks. Students will also par9cipate in a service project by making gree9ng cards for our military troops through Opera9on Gra9tude. This club is a great way to learn some new skills and make some new friends! It is a great way to incorporate fitness, coordina9on and teamwork into your day. Club members learn speed jumping, tricks and compe99ve rou9nes. Join us in some friendly compe99on! We will develop rules and regula9ons and then partake in a great elementary pas9me! This club will emphasize sportsmanship and teamwork. All while prac9cing catching, throwing, and kicking as well as developing problem solving skills. Jam- packed with fun and interac9ve learning, the French club is the place to learn about French and French culture. Children work coopera9vely to enjoy the discovery of the language. For children who already have some experience speaking French, this club provides the opportunity to strengthen oral expressions and grammar. What is Chess Club for kids? Students will have fun while developing essen9al chess skills. Chess has proven to increase academic performance by improving decision making abili9es, problem solving and cri9cal thinking skills. Learn to think BIG! Kooky? Yup. Nu_y? A lot. Educa9onal? Yes, it s that too! Students par9cipate in wacky and off- the- wall, hands- on lessons while discovering that simple household items can be used to perform quirky & crazy science experiments. Loads of surprises, comedy & goofy sound effects combine in this perfect complement to learning The Scien9fic Method.
