3 What s exhiarating, aweinspiring and so much fun that you can t wait to do it? A Gir Scout program, of course! No other organization provides as many opportunities for girs to earn and ead. Girs, just ike you, are exporing careers at NASA and buiding robots, they re behind the scenes with the cast of the Nutcracker at PayhouseSquare, they are exporing caves, cimbing rock was, and they re even traveing the word in ceebration of Gir Scouts 0th Anniversary, which is March 12, 12. In Gir Scouts, the word is yours! The programs found in this Faces and Paces give you a variety of activities to choose from, incuding science and technoogy, environmenta Tabe of Contents From the CEO... awareness, the arts, financia iteracy, heathy iving, camping and community engagement. Training for Gir Scout Bronze, Siver, and God Award projects aow you to earn the most prestigious awards in Gir Scouting. You can achieve these awards by using your knowedge and skis to set up and impement creative and effective 'take action pans' in your community, ocate the toos and resources needed, and know when, where and how to enist hep from others. Gir Scout programs are progressive, so you buid on skis you've earned at each eve. Whether you are a Daisy, Ambassador or any age in between, if you want to study insects and their reationship to the environment, or the stars and their geoogy, earn to be a decorating diva, or organize a recycing program in your neighborhood, Gir Scouting is the way to try and succeed at the things that interest you. What you've heard is true. In Gir Scouts, if you can think it, you can do it! 4 Pathway Passes What is a Pathway Pass? A Pathway Pass is an incentive earned by girs for participation in Councisponsored product saes and other activities. Pathway Passes may be used as funds toward program payment as described beow. How are Pathway Passes used? A Pathway Pass can be used on the GSNEO website to hep pay for programs designated by the Pathway Pass fag in GSNEO pubications incuding, but not imited to the Faces & Paces, Camp Guide, suppementa fyers, direct maiers, E-News, and the GSNEO website. Note: A Pathway Pass is not redeemabe for cash and change wi not be given. A Pathway Pass cannot be used to pay for: Service Unit programs Troop Camping Annua or Lifetime memberships Purchases at GSNEO retai ocations or through the onine shop Programs that are not designated with the Pathway Pass fag How do I create a profie in order to receive Pathway Passes? Parents/Guardians need to create a profie on gsneo.org in order to access Pathway Passes. Instructions on how to create the profie and add your Gir Scout to the profie are avaiabe at gsneo.org under Forms; they are ocated under Product Sae Forms. A profie ony needs to be created once; then every year after each Product Sae, any Pathway Passes the Gir Scout quaified for are automaticay upoaded to her profie. The Pathway Passes can be used by the Gir Scout and her famiy or may be printed out and given to the Troop to use for group activities. How do I access my Pathway Passes? Parents/Guardians and Gir Scouts 13 and over og into gsneo.org. Once ogged in, cick on the profie button at the top of the page. Once in the profie page, ook for the pink button that reads Pathway Passes, and cick it. Pathway Passes wi appear in a ist of the first five (5) earned. If more passes were earned, cick the View More button. Simpy cick the Print button or write down the Pathway Pass codes, then proceed to register for the program to use them. Enter one code at a time in the redemption box and cick the Add button between codes. 4

Over the past 0 years, Gir Scouts have been continuousy updating programs to stay reevant and contemporary, and give you want you want from Gir Scouts. You are part of an exciting, historic time in Gir Scouts, with everything from fun anniversary ceebrations, to the reease of the awesome new Gir s Guide to Gir Scouting. What is the Gir s Guide to Gir Scouting? It's a new handbook, badge book, and gir book a roed into one -- your persona record of what you did in Gir Scouts. And, this edition was reeased in our 0th Anniversary, which makes it a coectibe! How does The Gir's Guide to Gir Scouting work? Everyone knows that Gir Scouts have badges -- but the Gir's Guide to Gir Scouting has more than just exciting, new badges for every age eve. Each guide contains: A coorfu, easy-to-use binder speciay designed for each age eve. The binder comes chock fu of essentia information and badge activities pus girs get to customize their own experience by choosing and adding in additiona badge sets. Use the Journeys and the Gir s Guide to Gir Scouting together! Make the Gir Scout experience the best it can be choose to expore with any of the three Journeys: It's Your Panet - Love It! It's Your Word - Change It! It's Your Story - Te It! Journeys et girs expore eadership from a different anges. How does a eader identify a probem that needs to be soved? How does she dig deeper to find the root causes of that issue? How does she research soutions that go beyond the surface eve of the probem? And how does she team with others, mutipying efforts to make the word a better pace? That s what the journeys are a about -- heping girs Discover, Connect and Take Action on a chosen journey. Girs who compete a three Journeys for an age eve wi earn the new Journey Summit award! The Journey Summit is the highest award a Gir Scout Daisy or Brownie can earn, and for oder girs wi be paced just beow the Bronze, Siver and God Awards on the uniform to recognize the importance of this award. To earn even more badges, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes and Seniors can add Ski-Buiding Badge Activity Sets that tie to each Journey. The badges focus on one topic and hep buid specific skis in anything from photography to inventing, or camping to geocaching the ist goes on and on! Every badge aso has a few ideas about how to give service with the new ski, just ike Juiette Gordon Low taught girs.

7 Awards for Gir Scout Teen Leaders Effective this year, Gir Scouts is transitioning to updated requirements for teen eadership awards. Gir Scouts have many opportunities to share their skis, passions and experience with younger girs! Look for more detais in the Gir s Guide to Gir Scouting for each age eve. Gir Scout Seniors and Ambassadors CIT I and CIT II (Counseor-In-Training) Earned by Seniors and Ambassadors who want to mentor girs in a camp setting and buid skis toward becoming a camp counseor. To earn this award: 1. Register for CIT sessions offered each summer during resident camp 2. Work with younger girs over the course of the camp session VIT (Vounteer-In-Training) Earned by Seniors and Ambassadors who want to mentor girs in pathways other than the camp experience. Girs who have competed 9th grade are eigibe to earn this award. Here s how: 1. Find a mentor vounteer and work with a group of girs for 3-6 months 2. Compete the GSNEO VIT Training 3. Create and impement a program based on a Journey or badge Gir Scout Cadettes Program Aide Earned by Cadettes earning to work with younger girs in a variety of settings. To earn a Cadette Program Aide award: 1. Earn one LiA Award (Leader In Action) by heping a Brownie group on any of their eadership Journeys 2. Compete the GSNEO Program Aide Training 3. Work directy with younger girs in 6 activity sessions Register for the NEW PA and VIT Trainings VIT, Apri 1 and June CIT, visit gsneo.org in February 12 for a schedue of CIT offered during summer camp 12 PA Training, March 24, March, and Apri 21 Put your Teen Leader skis into action! Most of GSNEO s counci-sponsored programs need the assistance of teen eaders to faciitate activity stations and hep create a successfu program experience. Programs with PA indicated provide this opportunity. Girs must register for the program to participate as a Teen Leader. Register for the specific program onine at gsneo.org and indicate Registering as PA in the Specia Accommodations box. Uness otherwise noted, Program Aides do not pay the program fee. The program faciitator wi contact a registered program aides with additiona information prior to the program. Journeys Lead to Gir Scouts Highest Awards Gir Scout Bronze Award - Highest Award a Gir Scout Junior can achieve Gir Scout Siver Award - Highest Award a Gir Scout Cadette can achieve Gir Scout God Award - Highest Award a Gir Scout Senior or Ambassador can achieve Earn the highest and most prestigious awards in Gir Scouting and join the ranks of generations of young women who have made a difference in their communities and the word! Identify issues you care about, investigate and expore community needs, create a pan, gather a team, and Take Action by putting your pan into motion...then, share your story and ceebrate the success of your eadership! Gir Scout Journeys are the prerequisite to earning these prestigious awards. Journeys give girs a fu experience of what they wi do when working toward these awards, and the skis gained wi hep girs to deveop, pan and impement the Take Action project for their award. GSNEO offers both Siver Award Training (recommended) and God Award Training (required) for girs to earn tips that wi hep carify the award process and requirements. Check program offerings for dates and ocations, then register onine to take advantage of this free, invauabe opportunity! New GSUSA guideines became officia on October 1, 11. These guideines have been in transition for the past two years. Effective this year, a girs beginning their award process are required to use the updated guideines. Girs who took the previous God Award training, wi have unti August 1, 12 to compete the God Award process and submit their fina report. Girs who submit fina God Award reports by February 1 of each year wi be recognized at the annua God Award Recognition event. 7

8 8 Counci Sponsored Program Information GSNEO offers a variety of programs and events throughout our 18 counties to enhance the Gir Scout Leadership Experience. These programs are designed to expand a gir s word so she can discover more about hersef, connect to other Gir Scouts, and take action on what she earns. Programs are focused on: STEM: Science, Technoogy, Engineering, Math The Arts Environmenta Awareness Financia Literacy Community Engagement Heathy Living Outdoor Education Whie most of the programs offered wi be highighted in this program guide, additions and updates wi be added throughout the year on our website and in the counci E-News. Review the onine caendar at gsneo.org to search for programs by date, focus area, age eve, county or keyword. The most up-to-date information and any corrections wi be indicated in the onine program registration system. Program fees hep cover the cost of suppies and/or faciitator fees. Actua costs are offset by Counci funding from sources such as product saes, Famiy Partnership contributions and grants. Program Participation Gir Scout membership is open to a girs in grades K-12, and aduts age 18 and up. Any currenty registered Gir Scout member of GSNEO may participate in counci-sponsored programs and events offered for her program age eve. Girs who are not currenty registered members may register onine at gsneo.org prior to competing onine program registration. Annua membership registration is $12 and paid to Gir Scouts of the USA. Girs who are not registered with a troop, or girs who wish to attend a program without her troop may do so with an adut chaperone. Tag-a-ongs and sibings (boys and girs) may ony attend programs that are specified as a famiy and friends event. Meeting Specia Needs GSNEO strives to offer program opportunities that are accessibe for a girs. If your gir has a specia need, pease contact the Program Department in advance to determine if appropriate accommodations can be made so she may participate safey in the program. Reasonabe accommodations sha be made to ensure that as many girs as possibe have access to activities. Adut Attendance At east two unreated, registered and approved adut vounteers (at east one of whom is femae) must accompany a troop/group of girs participating in any Gir Scout program or event. Additiona registered and approved adut vounteers may be required based on the age eve of the girs and the number of girs in the troop/group. Refer to the adut-to-gir ratio chart ( Knowing How Many Vounteers You Need ) in the GSNEO Vounteer Resource Guide ocated in the Forms section of gsneo.org. Due to space and cost restrictions, adut participation may be imited to the number of aduts required for supervision ratios. Programs are designed for gir participation. A imited number of programs are avaiabe for some participation by adut chaperones. Nomina fees for adut registration are indicated for these programs. Mae Vounteers Men are encouraged and wecome to participate in Gir Scouts as vounteers and chaperones for programs and events. Safety guideines prohibit men from seeping in the same area as girs for overnight programs. Men may participate in overnights ony if accommodations can be made for separate seeping quarters and bathrooms for their use. Onine Registration & Payment Website User Account First time visitors to the onine registration system wi be asked to become a registered user of the GSNEO website. You wi ony have to do this once. Pease make a note of the user name and password you create. This website user registration ony aows the system to recognize you as a patron of the GSNEO website and heps you with your information and shopping experience each time you visit gsneo.org. Once you compete this step, you wi have access to the onine program and training registration sections. Program Registration To register for a program, go to gsneo.org, and cick on the Login tab to access your user account. Cick on Programs/Caendar, and search for program offerings by focus area, caendar, or a variety of advanced search options. Choose a program, add participants, then proceed through Payment Options, Review Order, and Order Compete status. Be sure to cick Check Out to compete the order, even when $0 is due. Print a receipt when the order is finaized. A orders are accessibe for review in your Profie, under Order History. Emai confirmations for registration are sent once the registration is competed successfuy. If appicabe, additiona program information wi be sent via emai. Registration open and cose dates are indicated for each program in the onine registration system. Programs typicay open for registration on the 1st of the month at east 6 weeks before the program date. Program registration coses business days before the program date or when the program has reached capacity, uness otherwise noted.. The onine registration system indicates program capacity and remaining spaces avaiabe for each program. Programs are fied on a first-registered, first-served basis. Programs may be canceed if the stated minimum number of participants is not met. Payment Fees isted are per gir or per adut. Payment is due at the time of registration. Payment may be made via PayPa, ACH debit, credit or debit card, or Pathway Passes. GSNEO Scoutship may be requested to support participation.

Programs that accept Pathway Pass payments are designated by a O in GSNEO pubications incuding, but not imited to the Faces & Paces, Camp Guide, suppementa fyers, direct maiers, E-News, and the GSNEO website. Note: A Pathway Pass is not redeemabe for cash and change wi not be given. GSNEO Scoutship Limited funds are avaiabe for GSNEO Scoutship to support participation in programs and events. To appy, compete the GSNEO Scoutship Appication and submit the form in ieu of payment. Appications must be postmarked, faxed, or deivered in person to the Macedonia office within 72 hours of the program registration to retain the reserved registration spaces. The form is avaiabe at gsneo.org; use the Quick Links box to access Forms, and ocate the GSNEO Scoutship Appication. Appicants wi be notified of the support offered and any remaining baance due for registration. Required Paperwork The Activity Consent, Hod Harmess and Reease Form must be competed by the parent/guardian of a gir member or the adut member attending any activity away from the reguar meeting pace. The form is to be competed and coected prior to the start of any activity. Troop eaders coect and retain the forms for their troop. Program and event coordinators coect forms from individua participants. If the participant or parent/guardian of a participant refuses to initia, edits the form, or refuses to sign the form, the participant wi not be aowed to participate or attend the event. Bring the foowing items to a Counci-sponsored programs and events: Program Confirmation Activity Consent, Hod Harmess and Reease Form* (for each gir and adut) Persona Heath and Medica Form* (for each gir and adut) Troop Roster (if appicabe) *Avaiabe in Forms section of gsneo.org Canceations, Refunds, Changes A fu refund of the program fee wi be given ONLY if the program is canceed by GSNEO. A partia refund wi be given for medica or famiy emergencies that prevent a member from attending the program. No prorated refund wi be given if a member eaves the program eary. To receive a refund, submit a written request with appropriate documentation no ater than two weeks after the program date. No other refunds wi be granted. Gir Scout membership fees for girs and aduts are non-refundabe. GSNEO reserves the right to ater or cance program activities for any reason. In the event of severe weather conditions that may endanger participants, an event may be canceed based upon information received from the Nationa Weather Service, state or oca authorities. Gir Scouts wi make every effort to contact program participants when this occurs. Money Earning Activities The Counci-sponsored Fa Product Sae and the Gir Scout Cookie Program give girs in troops/groups and individuay registered girs the opportunity to earn money to hep fund their participation in Gir Scout programs. Troops/Groups estabish a bank account and use product sae profits to support their activities. Profit from saes by individuay registered girs is hed in an account by GSNEO. If you are an Individuay Registered Gir Scout and woud ike information on these funds pease emai programs@gsneo.org. Additionay, troops/groups may participate in other Counciapproved money-earning activities in which the troop/group is the soe beneficiary of the profit after they have supported GSNEO through participation in both of the Councisponsored product saes. Money-earning activities must be approved in advance by GSNEO. Submit competed Money Earning Project Appications to the Director of Business Services at east 4 weeks prior to the requested start date. The appication can be found in the Forms section of gsneo.org. A money-earning activities must be appropriate for the age eve and compy with state and oca aws reguating saes by minors, food handing, etc. and may not be conducted on the internet. Acceptabe money-earning projects incude those where the girs make an item to se or provide a service. Exampes of APPROVED activities incude: bake sae, car wash, gift wrapping, babysitting. Participation in product demonstration parties, raffes, drawings, games of chance, the direct soicitation of cash, and the sae or endorsement of commercia products or businesses is prohibited. Exampes of NON-APPROVED activities incude: Tupperware; promoting a business to receive a percentage of saes; seing event tickets or coupons; reseing a product purchased such as candy bars, cans of pop or t-shirts. 9

Compete your 19th Century adventure with your own Engish Tea Party. O Adventure Overnight: Brownie PA-B Mar. 17, Mar. 31 This is a great opportunity for a Brownie troop s first overnight experience. Expore and take part in a fun themed program. Incudes dinner, evening snack and breakfast. Seeping arrangements are indoors. Aduts are imited to required safety ratio. Do an experiment without test tubes and share your experience with others. Seizures happen to 1 in peope, wi you know how to respond? Learn about epiepsy and how your brain is uniquey you. O Bug Inspector PA-D Jan., May 12, May 19 Let s investigate what s under rocks and faen tree branches, on the eaves, and in the trais. As we investigate the bug word, we earn about bug babies, why we need bugs and how they hep our environment. Get an officia Bug Inspector kit to take home and continue your investigations. O Cadette Summit Weekend C May 18 This is the camp out event you ve heard about! Enjoy a fu weekend of activities panned by girs. Choose from canoeing, archery, creative arts and more. The Gir Leadership Team is sti creating the pans, so we can t share a the detais with you yet. Meas wi be in the dining ha. Fees vary depending on seeping areas and activity seections. Space is imited, ony one adut per group may attend. More detais wi be posted on the website as they are finaized. O Career Exporation Day - Hoden Arboretum S/A Apr. 21 Do you ike being outside? Does the natura word amaze you? There are many careers in horticuture, conservation and research that focus on the environment. Spend a day at the beautifu Hoden Arboretum and hear first hand from women who chose to make their careers in these fieds. Be prepared to end the day heping on one of their projects outdoors. Bring a sack unch with you and pan on enjoying an hour for networking and getting to know sister Gir Scouts who share a common interest. Career Exporation Day - NASA C/S/A June 13 Discover what it s ike to work as an engineer or scientist! 30 Adut Training Information Training Information About Gir Scouts of North East Ohio GSNEO is the preeminent organization for girs that provides eadership deveopment programs for,000 girs in grades K-12, and 14,000 adut vounteers ages 18 and up. Gir Scouting buids girs of courage, confidence and character, who make the word a better pace. Why Take Training Gir Scouts of North East Ohio provides training to adut members as part of its commitment to girs. Vounteers have the opportunity to deveop their skis, increase their knowedge of the Gir Scout program and hep girs Discover, Connect, and Take Action in their communities and in their word. Gir Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) and Gir Scouts of North East Ohio (GSNEO) beieve that prepared aduts are key to the success of the Gir Scout movement. GSNEO requires that a aduts who hod a position in Gir Scouting must take training. It is a vounteer s responsibiity to compete the required courses. NEW! Vounteer Training Steps Vounteers are required to compete the foowing GSUSA/GSNEO courses: GS1, WELCOME TO GIRL SCOUTS, and LEADERSHIP ESSENTIALS. To be an adut vounteer in direct service to girs, you wi need to compete the foowing trainings within 6 months of appointment. 1. Compete onine GS1 at the password is "aboutgs1" (it is case sensitive). Note: GSNEO does not accept the GSUSA's onine Basic Orientation or Leadership Essentias. 2. Compete Wecome to Gir Scouts training within your Service Unit. 3. Compete the GSNEO Leadership Essentias course. You may attend training in any county. Basic Leadership Courses GS1 (onine), Wecome to Gir Scouts, & Leadership Essentias are the ony required eadership training courses for adut vounteers. These courses wi take you through the basic steps of being an effective eader in a gir-ed organization. You wi earn about using the Journey program books and how to impement the keys to eadership: Discover, Connect and Take Action. Outdoor Training Outdoor Essentias and Outdoor Overnight Experience teach adut vounteers how to safey enjoy the outof-doors whie buiding their skis and knowedge to enhance the girs experience and have a great time whie earning. For any outdoor troop activities that require speciaized training, aduts shoud compete the training we in advance. This wi aow time to bring the skis and knowedge back to the girs to hep prepare them before the event. Enrichment Courses These workshops go beyond the Leadership Essentias course. They wi provide you with new ideas and skis that wi hep to enhance your Gir Scout experience. Service Team Training Service Unit teams are an integra part of GSNEO. Typicay team members are experienced vounteers who hep support new vounteers as we as each other. Service Team Training is designed for individuas who are new to working on a Service Unit team. This course incudes a description of the position, responsibiities of the position, and tips on how to fufi this commitment successfuy. Payments Fees isted are per adut. Payment is due at the time of registration. Payment may be made via PayPa, ACH debit, credit or debit card. GSNEO Scoutships GSNEO Scoutships may be requested to support participation. Limited funds are avaiabe for GSNEO Scoutships to support participation in trainings and events. To appy, compete the GSNEO Scoutship Appication and submit the form in ieu of payment. Appications must be postmarked, faxed or deivered in person to the Macedonia office within 72 hours of registration to retain the reserved training spaces. The form is avaiabe at gsneo.org; use the Quick Links box to access Forms and ocate the GSNEO Scoutship Appication. Appicants wi be notified of support offered and any remaining baance due for registration. Confirmations A confirmation wi be sent via emai upon successfu registration through the onine system. Course Canceation If we do not reach the minimum number of registrations required, the course may be canceed. Ony those who have registered for the course wi be notified of a canceation or any changes in date, time or ocation. When a participant needs to cance her/his registration for any event or training session, pease send notification either by e-mai (training@gsneo.org), or fax ( ). Canceation, Refund and/or Change Poicy A fu refund wi be given ONLY if the registered course is canceed by GSNEO. A partia refund wi be given for medica or famiy emergencies that prevent a member from attending the training. No prorated refund wi be given if a member eaves the course eary. To receive a refund, submit a written request with appropriate documentation no ater than two weeks after the course. No other refunds wi be granted. Gir Scout membership fees for girs and aduts are non-refundabe. Gir Scouts of North East Ohio reserves the right to ater or cance training for any reason. In the event of severe weather conditions that may endanger participants, an event may be canceed based upon information received from the Nationa Weather Service, state or oca authorities. Requesting a GSNEO Course GSNEO Offers a variety of courses to it's membership. These courses are deivered by experience vounteers who have dedicated numerous hours in deveoping their skis as faciitators and faciitating GSNEO courses. For a course to be offered outside of the Faces and Paces guide. The foowing guideines must be met: 1. If there is an upcoming course that is in the same county, the request wi not be granted. 2. A guarantee of individuas attending the course must be in pace for the request to be processed. 3. Assistance in finding a course ocation may be needed. For First Aid/CPR courses the foowing must aso be met to secure an additiona training: A ocation must be secured that has a arge enough space for cassroom work and manikins to be aid on the foor for participants to practice CPR. The ocation must have a TV/DVD payer. A guarantee of individuas attending the course must be in pace for the request to be processed. Chidcare Chid care is not avaiabe during training. Chidren, friends, and other famiy members shoud not come to training with you. Note: Vounteer trainers faciitate the majority of trainings offered by Gir Scouts. These trainers are seected for their knowedge and ski in a chosen fied and have been educated in training methods, skis and techniques. This specia group of vounteers donates many hours to ensure that Gir Scout vounteers have the toos for an enjoyabe Gir Scout experience.
