Registration with coffee and donuts in the hall at 8-8:45 AM and play at 9:00 AM. Lunch served both days in the Hall 10:30 AM to 12 Noon and open to all residents. Club Hawthorne Council Needs You: The Council is recruiting people interested in interviewing for the position of Council Finance Officer. As Finance Officer you also have a vote on Council matters. If you are interested, please stop in at the Program office in the Hall and request the Finance Office Job Description. We will be interviewing eligible candidates. Rummage Sale: Looking ahead to the future needs, the rummage sale chairmen are looking for anyone with an interest in taking over the supervision and planning of yearlong activities, culminating in the actual sale. The person would work closely this year with present chairmen and learn the ropes. If you think you might be interested, call Allan Pinkham at Community Pride: Recommends holding back trimming frost damaged plants until end of February. If cut too soon additional damage can occur. The damage can even protect the plant until it gets warmer. Canadian Social: Please save the date Friday, 2/16 at 4:00 PM at the Marina. If you think maybe this does not sound like you perhaps you should try the Yoga class for men every Wednesday at 2:00 PM in the Lemon Lime Rooms. Strength, Balance, Flexibility are the primary focus. Get off that couch and do something good for yourself, now drop that cheeseburger, and come on down. Hawthorne Bike Club News: Bicycle riders meet at the clubhouse flagpole 9:00 AM Tuesday & Saturday mornings for a ride around Hawthorne. All riders are welcome to join us. After the Tuesday rides we have coffee in the Hospitably Room. On Thursday, January 25 th at 10:00 AM we will transport bikes to the Leesburg, Wildwood paved trail and have lunch afterward at a local restaurant. Please meet at the flagpole. 5 Rummage Sale: Shed #1 will be open every Thursday 10AM to 12 Noon in January. If you have large items please call or by Wednesday each week. As a reminder we do not accept pressboard items, beds, appliance, sofa beds, televisions older than Also windows, doors (aluminum or wood) are not acceptable. Do not leave items when the sheds are closed at any time. AARP Recycling Cans; AARP has a great need for someone to help with our can recycling project. Call Bud Frank or Barb Weese for details. Work at your own pace. You are your own boss. Notice Social Dance: We will be having dance lessons starting Friday January 19 at 3:00 PM in the Marina main room. They will run for 8 weeks and will cost $64.00 per couple. Charlie and Joanne from Forever Ballroom will be teaching swing and foxtrot. If interested, call Shirley Hurt at Community Service Connection: Happy New Year to all from the Community Service Connection. We ask you to consider just giving 3 hours of your time in 2018 to stay with a shut-in while your spouse enjoys some free time from responsibility. Not 3 hours a week just 3 hours for the whole year. Your help will enable fulltime volunteers to enjoy some time off. 24/7 caregivers need a little extra time to enjoy some needed time. Thanks for considering this request. A new version of this popular mystery has been rewritten by Jean Herrgott and will include both player s cast favorites and Hawthorne newcomers. Kathy Bowman is the director. The audience is the jury! The theater will be set up cabaret style with tables and a winery theme. The Hawthorne Players will provide the entertainment and table setup. Please bring your own snacks and bottle of wine, schnapps, or favorite beverage. Tickets will go on sale January The price is $5. 6 A Special Message from your Board of Directors Step 3 of Activity/Club Requests To have your activity s request considered, you must meet and discuss the project with your Council Officer. You or your Council Officer may then turn the Project Approval Form in to the Program Office. Step 4 of Activity/Club Requests Completed Project Approval Form requests must be in the Program Office no later than noon the Friday prior to the Council business meeting, which is held the first Thursday of the month. This form will not be accepted if you haven t met with your Council Officer or Deputy Council Officer if your Council Officer is unavailable. A Message from the General Manager Irrigation of residential lawns is currently only permitted once a week by St. John s Water Authority. Odd numbers homes irrigate on Saturday. Even number homes water on Sunday. During cold spells the lawns need little to no water at all. This is our opportunity to save some precious water.
