Homecoming Parade kicks off at 5 p.m. National Honor Society students are once again working to make sure this year s parade goes off without a hitch. The students help plan and organize the parade as well as assign the line-up and direct participants on the day of the parade. Lineup for registered parade participants will begin at 4 p.m. along Alger Drive, from Clark Street to the area beside the bus parking area. (Please note: Only those groups who have registered will be allowed to participate in the parade. The district adheres to a no solicitation policy and does not allow businesses, commercial vehicles, for-profit groups or political candidates to participate in the parade.) The staging area includes the staff and student parking areas east of the high school and Davison Alternative Education. Motorists should also take note that the Oak Road entrance to the high school will be closed by 4 p.m., so please use the Lapeer Road entrance. This year s parade begins at 5 p.m. at Davison High School. The parade will continue west down Clark Street and turn north on Main Street before ending near the library. Please use extreme caution when driving in this area as school buses will be picking up students along Fourth Street to bring them back to the high school. A special thanks to our police agencies Davison Township, City of Davison and Richfield Township for their assistance with directing traffic, closing streets and helping to keep everyone safe.

FAFSA/Financial Aid Information Nights set for October 9, 17 Did you know that the deadline to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now in October? Did you also know that whether or not you think your child qualifies for federal student aid, it's recommended that you complete the form each year because colleges and universities use the information to help determine whether students qualify for other types of financial aid? Davison students have two opportunities to learn about the FAFSA and how to complete the form. Join Baker College Vice President for Student Services Gerald McCarty and DHS Counselors at the annual Davison High School FAFSA/Financial Aid Information Night at 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 9. A general session is planned at 6 p.m. in the auditorium and is geared toward parents of 9-12th graders. Stay for the second session at 6:30 p.m. and Mr. McCarty will give you step by step instructions as you complete your student s FAFSA form. Don't forget to bring your 2016 tax forms and social security and driver's license numbers for both you and your student. A representative from Mott Community College will assist parents at the Davison Alternative Education s annual FAFSA Night, set for 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, in the computer lab. Refreshments will be served. Bring your 2016 tax forms and social security and driver's license numbers for both you and your student. Have an idea for Building Beat? We love to hear from our staff, students and alums! If you have a story or accomplishment to share, or would like to let us know what you are doing since graduation, please us at: medwards@davisonschools.org
