Like play golf. My thanks for the card, calls, and texts. August came and went really fast. And September is right on us. And it's gonna be as busy as August it seems. Our member picnic is Saturday September 1st. Bring a covered dish. The Lodge is providing hot dogs and hamburgers. Feed is at 5 PM. The Moose Legion will be conducting a corn hole tournament. Artie's Pilgrim Presentation Ceremony will be Saturday September 22. Ceremony to start at 2PM. Reception to follow. Come early for a good seat. October will be a busy month as well. Thursday Oct 4th will be what I'm calling Newmarket Night. That's the gaming folks. They will provide a party for members from 5-7 PM (that might change to 6-8). But anyway food and drink is on them. We expect to have heavy finger foods/horse douvers but not a dinner. But expect you can get your fill. They intend to make it a fun night for all. Make plans. October 27 th will be our Annual Oyster Roast. Tickets available at the bar. That is also the same day as Moose Founders Day. We hope to work something into the day for that. The VMA Convention in Roanoke this past week was educational and informative. Seemed to dwell on what Moose does for its people and communities we serve. One we will probably get going is Youth Awareness. VMA Lodges raised enough money to cover the insurance deductible to repair the pier at Moose Haven. $50,000-and you helped. Bet you didn't know that. Thanks brothers. The really big thing that came out of the convention was Tim Ray had the Degree of Fellowship conferred upon him. When you see Tim congratulate him on this honor. Well deserved. Artie has the weight of VMA off his shoulders now. But they didn't kick him all the way to the curb. He is State By-Laws Chairman. Glenn Sydnor, our Past Governor, was elected to the office of Prelate. You guys rock. Put Litwalton on the map. Now time to thank a bunch of folks. You might have noticed the flag pole and flags at the Lodge. Virginia Flaggers donated the pole and Virginia flag. Brian Dillistin donated the American flag. Thanks folks. They really add to the appearance of the Lodge. Tim and his crew continue to work on the porch and steps. Once the porch is clean, we'll paint/stain it. We receive many compliments on the appearance already. And let's not forget the shrubs, stone and mulch. There's a group of faithful workers that we all seem to overlook. Every 3rd Sunday morning, a group of folks get up at OH DARK THIRTY, cook and serve a delicious breakfast for you. The names and numbers change from month to month. But we have a core group that does this. My personal thanks to them for their hard work. I'd ask that when you come up for breakfast, just give 'em a pat on the back and thank them. They deserve it. 4 OLD DOMINION MOOSE LEGION 148 NEWS: Chesterfield Moose Lodge will host the next monthly meeting of ODML 148 on Saturday, September 15, at 2:00pm. All Moose Legionnaires are encouraged to attend. Artie Ransone, MLC Asst Secy LODGE MOOSE LEGION COMMITTEE The Committee has set the third Thursday of the month for its monthly meetings. Thursday, September 20, will be our next meeting. We will have a Social at 6:00 pm and a meeting at 7:00 pm. All Moose Legionnaires are invited to attend. We are looking for suggestions for fundraiser events and greater participation among our members. Bar Bingo every Monday night beginning at 7:00. No card fee & Moose Bucks prizes. Come join the fun!
