1 GPMC NEWS The Greater Pittsburgh Mustang Club Newsletter Visit our updated website at Volume 26 Issue March years Next Meeting March 2 at King s Family Restaurant, Harmarville Just north of Route 910 and Freeport Road (Old Route 28), behind McDonald s Board Meeting 7:00 PM; General Meeting 7:30 PM Greetings Pony Lovers That Punxsutawney rodent has made his proclamation we re going to have an early spring! (And not a minute too soon, I might add.) It seems like this winter has been hard on everyone. I for one find it increasingly difficult as we wait for warmer weather. But the Vernal Equinox is just around the corner, so the days just keep getting longer and longer. Our second annual GPMC Invitational Golf Classic on Jan 29 th was a huge success. Dwight & Mary Hutton put together a great time for everyone. And the turnout, with over sixty members and guests, was phenomenal. Bob the Terminator Kacinko came away with the highly coveted trophy. The last five weeks of spring are going to be very busy for the Club. Starting on May 22 nd is the annual Poker Run to benefit the St. Barnabas Pennies for Patients charity. Just two weeks after that on June 12 th is our annual All Ford-Powered Show at Shults Ford-Lincoln. Then only two weeks later is Can-Am. So it will be non-stop action and a great opportunity to get out and enjoy our ponies. The overall plans for Can-Am are now pretty much in-the-can, so to speak. Registration forms are now available and have been sent out with this newsletter. If you register by May 21 st it s only $25/person, and includes the river boat cruise, Saturday night dinner, a dash plaque and a commemorative jacket patch. If you plan to attend Can-Am and come for the river boat cruise, go to the Saturday banquet or Sunday brunch you need to register and pay in advance. Can-Am is set for June 24-26, so be sure you re in town that weekend. There s still a lot of work to do planning the final details. So I ll be around in April asking many of you to pitch in. Even with the bad weather, we had a great turnout at King s for our February meeting. Jennie & I will be out of town so we ll miss the March meeting, but we look forward to seeing all of you on April 6 th. Keep those motors runnin, Ken If you have renewed your GPMC membership, thanks! If not, time is running out See page 5 for renewal Information If you joined MCA in 2010 or recently renewed your MCA membership, please give Ed your MCA number

The spotlight cars will be in a separate area. Ken mentioned maybe other Can-Am clubs might be interested in attending, especially Mahoning Valley. Ken introduced Michael Schindel, a promoter of drag racing (Flashlight Drags), at the BeaveRun Motorsports Complex, near Beaver Falls. Michael explained how it got started, what s involved, rules, and fees. He distributed the 2011 Race Schedule.
