Last Sunday, almost 80 of our Under 8 s players took over Ashmore Bowl and from what I hear, showed some of their coaches a thing or two about bowling!! Thank you to the coaching staff & team managers for taking their teams along and for celebrating a fantastic season 2014 with them. Another busy weekend ahead for the youngest of our superstars when this Saturday, our Under 8 s & 6 s head up to the Ormeau Bulldogs to show them what we are made of. This week also saw some of our committee members conduct meetings with each parent group during training to explain the positions available for next season and outline the many roles that need to be filled in order to ensure our ever-expanding club continues to thrive & succeed. Thank you to those parents who actually attended these meetings and an even bigger thank you to those parents who have already put their hands up to do their part next season. Many more parents need to join this fantastic list of volunteers and in the coming week, a list of those jobs that still need a parent like you to step up will be sent out to all club members. I urge you to make 2015 the year that YOU do your part to support your own child and his/her club. Nominations for coaching positions have also been called and we have a number of this year s coaches (and a couple of new faces) applying to commit to your child and our club. If you or someone you know within or outside the club, would like to apply for a coaching position in 2015, please contact me via or mobile. Sunday 10th August is our Modifieds Presentation Day for Super 6 s - Under 10 s players and their families. The celebration will be held on the Village Green with the morning kicking off at 9am. There will be jumping castle, an ice cream van, BBQ and some games organised by the coaches...trophies & photos will be presented and the morning will wrap just before 12 o clock. We look forward to seeing all of our junior families there!! es & team managers, please ensure you are at the club at 7.30am to set up for the day and don t forget to return all of your gear...jerseys, kitbag, balls, coaching boards etc as the committee will conduct the equipment audit the following week with a view to ordering what might be needed for the following season.

Southport Sharks JAFC News Parking Reminders: Pg. 6 For the safety of our kids there is no parking in the turnaround at the end of the bitumen road around the main oval (near the canteen), this policy is in place at all times during training and games. Security from the Main Club will be closely monitoring this during 2014 and offending vehicles will be towed at the owners expense. This area is to be kept clear for ambulances. The parking area next to the Groundsman s Shed and the Club Office is for the use of committee members and ground staff only. Last year, the groundsman was unable to perform some of his duties as he was unable to access some of his equipment due to vehicles parked in this area and the owners could not be located. The gate for the gravel road coming down past the Village Green will be kept closed at all times. With the expansion of our player numbers the Village Green will be used more and more for training and games and as such we don t want vehicular traffic moving in that area as children will be chasing footballs down the hill and across the road. A Boomgate has been installed on the gate at the entrance to the ringroad around the Main Oval. This gate will open at 3.30pm each afternoon and all weekend. Access to the bottom oval and entry into the Sharks will be via Langford Lane off Musgrave Avenue between 5am and 3.30pm weekdays. GO SHARKS!!! 7 Pg. 7 Umpires Report & Match Reports Umpires Report Another full weekend of home games so our umpires were kept busy on both Friday night and Saturday. A big thank you to those umpires that doubled up on Friday night and Saturday for the older modified games Bonnie, Ryan, Zac, Dan and Jarrod and also to Shaun and Nicholas for coming down for an early morning start on Saturday after their game on Friday night. The season is rapidly coming to a close, there are no modified games at the Sharks next weekend but we are sending 6 umpires up to Ormeau to help them out when our Super 6 and Under 8 teams travel up the highway for some matches against opposition clubs. Tip of the week: When controlling a 2-umpire match such as in the U11 s remember to work out your changeover signals between yourselves before the match commences. That way you will always be clear on when it is your turn to take control of the play. But don t forget, even if you aren t the umpire in control at the time you can still make decisions if the other umpire misses something. You are working as a team on the field and sometimes the other umpire can pick up things you may miss. Have a great week and I ll see you all in a fortnight down at the Sharks. Tony Gietzel. Tony Gietzel - Umpire Co-ordinator Super 6 s Roll up was a little light this week, maybe our sixers were recovering from the big weekend the week before! Quick cat and mouse game to warm up then the sixers were straight into our skill basics with Mums and Dads. The skill improvement of the kids has been fantastic across the season and I am confident that the basic building blocks are in place to be advanced in future grades. Extended game time after the skill drills with some excellent performances from the children. It is great to see them competing for the ball without going to ground and really starting to share the football by hand and foot. Highlights include Bams running goals one with a check side punt from the boundary. Jo, Fynn, Lucas and Braedon all marked strongly which has also been a strong learning focus for the group. The games are played in great spirit by the kids and the development has been brilliant to watch. Only a couple of weeks left so hopefully everyone can make the effort to get along and have some fun. 8 Pg. 8 Match Reports Under 8 s Silver After a substandard performance last week the Silver boys were back to their best against a quality White team today. For the first time this year our entire contingent of players were available, putting pressure on our Ass. Steve, to get our interchange rotations under control. Thank you to the eight boys who spent some time on the sidelines during the match. Harry and Lockie led the team well in the first quarter and after a slow start the boys evened up the scoreboard with some late goals. The second quarter was all about Jamie s domination in the centre. After asking for a big effort from the coach, Jamie responded with countless entries into our forward line. Our older boys Xavier, Cameron and Nicholas were hard at the ball and picked up many possessions between them. Our third quarter was good in patches with Charlie and Jake involves in some great passages of play and Wesley kicking two awesome goals. The fourth quarter was a real team effort with all boys making solid contributions. At the final siren it was tough to separate the contest between two quality teams who played the game in the right spirit. Two highlights of the game were Jack pulling up his socks before taking a shot at goal and Cameron managing to run off during the game for a quick photo before returning back to his position. Due to the outstanding efforts of the boys it was difficult to nominate best players but the coaches eventually handed out the awards to Wesley, Cameron and Jack. Great effort Silvers! Under 8 s Silver Hayden Ewens Assistant - Steve Morris Team Manager - Liz Millard Under 8 s Green The green team played the black on Saturday and played well. We had patches of brilliance and also patches of being off with the fairies. Thanks to the team members who went across to play on the black team each quarter to fill in numbers. We are working on our lateral leading during training and hope it pays off against Ormeau this week. Awards went to Patrick, Kyle, Hunter and Lucien. Jason. Under 8 s Green Jason Swanson Under 8 s Yellow No report submitted. Under 8 s Yellow Damien Maher

Pg. 9 Match Reports Under 8 s Purple On a brisk winter s morning purple team played red team. We were one player short with Bailey being unwell so the red team generously offered a spare player so we had even numbers. We dominated in the first quarter with great team work, strong midfield and Ethan, Alfie and Samuel dominating in attack and kicking goals. The second and third quarters were more evenly matched. Highlights included Drew putting his body on the line to spoil a mark. Damir worked hard in the midfield, Jordy kicked two goals in the third quarter, one of which was a spectacular torpedo. Hunter was dangerous in attack scoring a couple in the third quarter. The fourth quarter was all one way traffic from the reds which evened up the game. The game was free flowing and the reds were enjoyable opponents. Mason was strong all game and it was great to see him back firing after being unwell, which earned him Player of the Match along with Hunter. Congratulations to Drew for his awesome bowling performance at the breakup, and thanks to the Sharks for organising this fun event. Next week we re away in Ormeau. Only two rounds left until the end of the season up, up and away. Under 8 s Purple - Angelo Sardellis Under 8 s Red The Reds first match of the season was against the Purple team, and so this week both teams got to see the other s progress since Round 1. As in round 1, the match was closely contested, see-sawing from quarter to quarter on the back of whichever mid-field could deliver ball quickly to their forward line. I continue to be impressed with our strong work in the ruck and determination around contested ball on the ground. When we had opportunities in front of goal they were taken well. Awards this week went to Tiernan, Deegan and Alex. Thanks to Alex and Cooper G for again helping to balance number by playing on the opposing side. Congratulations also to the Purple team on their performance, and their kicking to a target in particular. A lesson that the Red team can definitely benefit from. Under 8 s Red Neil Readshaw Assistant es - Paul Donnelly, Mark Green Team Manager - Jo Donnelly

Pg. 10 Match Reports Under 8 s White Firstly l would like to say that I am very proud of the fact that every single player in our team played the game fairly, with great spirit and with great respect for the other team. Thankyou Diesel for putting the team first and allowing Travis to play forward for his birthday, it was a very nice of you Diesel. Happy Birthday Trav!!! Our three big men Noah, Travis and Jaxon all showed us just how good a mark they are, they all took some great speckies, well played. Nice to see Max continue his great late season form and huge kicking game.harry and Flynn work well together and share the ball with each to score heaps of goals as well. Blayd and Diesel work brilliantly together in the middle to help set the game up all the time now and nice to see Jonah out playing footy with his mates and really becoming part of the team. We also had a great time at bowling on Sunday, thanks to the Sharks for organising the day. The boys all had a ball!! Personally it has also been a lovely to watch all our parents becoming friends over the course of the year as well. : Jason Upfill Under 8 s White Jason Upfill Assistant - Scott Cruse Team Manager - Nicki Upfill

Pg. 11 Match Reports Under 8 s Black This week it was back to the normal round robin games and the Black team came up against a strong and fit green team. Big thanks to the green team for loaning us a player for each of the quarters they all did their team and coach proud and were a great help. The green team came out firing and got the jump on our players kicking the first couple of goals but after a quick wakeup call and some determined brilliance from Jamie in our back line we soon got the game back on even pegging which was how the rest of the game would play out. Phoenix as always provided great spark on his line and with great help from Finn who finds a little more run every week they combined well and contested very fairly. Patrick ran his heart out and was puffed out within seconds of the start but continued to find the ball and played a great game. Noah's speed kept more than few greens guessing and his left foot sliced some great goals. Bailey was another speedster who showed why we missed him so much in recent weeks. Zac tried really hard and after getting up early to come in especially from a music festival zoned off really well in defence, but the real improver this week was Tristan. Tristan really surprised everyone just how many times he attacked the ball in crowded situations and took several really courageous marks, emerging from the packs with ball in hand more often than not. Congratulations everyone and a big thank you to the green team for the spirit in which they played. Under 8 s Black Mick Berry Assistant & Team Manager - Clinton Karger Under 8 s Blue It was a great day for footy against the Yellow team. Our boys were a little lack lustre this week (must have been struck by the sleep fairy) however they managed to pull their game together and at times we saw some great displays of footy. We are really seeing the 1, 2 coming together that we practice at training, but we really need to work harder on our battling and scrambling for the ball. The ball is anybody s boys...make it YOURS! Our kicking game had moments of brilliance, with some great weighted displays by Harry Staunton- McCallum and Oscar Wood, which saw Oscar grab one of our Player of The week Awards. Nik Pregun continues to show lots of courage each week in his tenaciousness and drive towards the ball, whether in defence or attack. Jayden De-Simon and Fletch Reichman are always on the improve, and it s this improvement that scored them the other two weekly awards. We missed Daniel Dekker this week but look forward to him returning next week. Our footy weekend didn t end there as we had our Super 8 s end of season bash at Ashmore bowl and what a great afternoon it was. It was lovely to see so many of the kids, coaches and parents turn up. Harry Staunton-McCallum took out the best player on our team narrowly edging out Nik Pregun by a couple of pins. Thanks to Melissa Spencer for organising and Kim Pregun for running the event can t wait till next year...i d better do lots of practice!!!!!! Under 8 s Blue Peter McCallum Team Manager Michelle Staunton

Pg. 12 Match Reports - Round 14 Under 9 s Black The Mighty Under 9 Black Team again played on Friday night at home against Pac Pines. Our boys were clearly the better side with the opposition really not able to put any pressure on our boys. Big Jake led the way and played his best game for the year. Nat also played a terrific game and was well supported by Harry, Liam and Connor. The second half was similar to the first with the boy s scoring lots of goals. Seb played his heart out. Jake Cal used his left foot well, when on his wrong side. The twins played a great game with Jarrod winning a prize for his great plays. Reilly played well in the middle and continues to improve. Jackson has a great desire to win his own ball and quickly send the ball into the forward line. Owen. Under 9 s Black Owen Gregory Assistant - Tysen Gregory Team Manager Charlie Sullivan Under 9 s White It s amazing what a difference a week can make and being back at home against Pacific Pines this week the boys seemed a lot more determined. Our main award winners this week were Max & Christian. Both boys tackled hard and chased the ball all evening. Well done boys. There was also a little "incentive" in the form of chocolate for the last quarter performances and Max, Zach, Josh & Chad were worthy winners. Zach was our captain this week and put in a courageous performance as always and was always dangerous in the forward line and was rewarded with a nice goal. Liam succumbed to illness in the second half but was really brave to play at all and did well when on the field. Josh kept running all night as did Jack. Ethan put in some great kicks and that side of his game is improving tremendously. Chad was a livewire in the centre and did really well with his marking in defence. Tyson tried his heart out and is getting better each week. To our "helpers" who made sure we had a near full team - harry & Xavier from the black team, and Kara & "Smash" from our opposition - thankyou. To Todd for his goal umpiring, Marion for the oranges & Belinda for the jumpers - thankyou also - much appreciated as always. Last but not least thanks to Hayden & Dale for getting the boys organised & your assistance as always - week in, week out. Only 2 more games to go - this week we are back at Carrara with a 9 am game. Go Team White! Sean. Under 9 s White Sean Reid

Pg. 13 Match Reports - Round 14 Under 9 s Silver Friday night saw us up against the boys from pacific pines. It was a perfect night for footy and a great game it turned out to be. Our best player award went to Bailey who had his best game for the year by far. Baileys four quarter effort was exceptional, racking up a million kicks and continually pumping the ball forward when he had it. Well done bails. Jayden also had a terrific game which saw him get the encouragement award for the week. Another great game Jayden, keep up the good work. The first three quarters were quite even but whatever happened at three quarter time worked. Maybe something in the fruit this week, I'm not sure. Our last quarter was easily the best we've played all year. Our boys in the middle tackling hard winning the free kicks and spotting up targets in our forward line. Kinser exploded in the last and was everywhere kicking goals from all angles. Beau got into the goals as well, showing off his great skills. Unfortunately that meant that our back line were standing around getting a bit cold, I don't think the ball went down there once but good marking up anyway boys. All in all a fantastic game and great to see you get the rewards for all of your hard work at the end. Keep it up for the last two games boys!!! See you all at training on Thursday. Jason. 14 Pg. 14 Match Reports - Round 14 Under 10 s Black This week s game saw the boys take on Pac Pines Black in another hard contest with both teams even all night. Our last encounter with this team resulted in a draw and in this game only one point was the difference. We played a good running game today with some great passages of play and backing each other up all game. The use of the ball from defence was good to see with the long penetrating kicks down the centre corridor working well. When we play our defensive game across the centre we made it almost impossible for them to get their ball out, preventing their run on game. There were some good positives with the way we were moving the ball and looking for our loose players. Our talking and marking was impressive, and when we played in front we won the contest with some good body skills and fast legs. Our captain this week was Jake P who played a good solid game with a great couple of goals in the second quarter. Pac Pines in a great gesture of sportsmanship awarded Ky with an award for being best on ground with his effort this week which also saw him win the player of the week for our team. Jake S played another impressive game with a never give in attitude and demonstrated some great marking and kicking skills winning the Man of the Match award and Nico who played a great solid game with some impressive marking and hard tackling, winning the coaches award, well done. As with all awards not everybody can win them but all did deserve one this week with the efforts made. Thank you to the parents who helped pick the awards out and for helping on the night. Under 10 s Black Glenn Palmer Assistant - TBA Team Manager-Rachel Palmer Under 11 s White Southport White def Pacific Pines Black Back at home this week for the Sharks to take on the Pac Power Black team. We were five players down this week due to injury, illness, and travel, so a big thanks to Cade, Cooper, and Jasper from the Silver team who doubled up and more than helped us out for the game. The Power got off to a flyer, kicking three goals to one in the first quarter. That was pretty much where the Power dominance ended though, as the Sharks restricted them to one more goal after quarter time, and kicked another twelve ourselves. It was a great team effort, and showed the versatility of all players, playing very well in unfamiliar roles. Very pleasing was the fact that there were eight different goal kickers for the game. Well done!! Julian Hamill took the reigns as Captain and led by example with another great display of footy skill, run, and an excellent read of the play. Thanks to the three Silver players; Cade played another one of his great games, floating all around the ground, and kicking four goals, Jasper started up forward taking some great marks and not giving the Power boys any room to move, and Cooper found plenty of the ball from back to forward delivering with precision and chiming in for a goal as well. Joshua drifted from the centre to the forward line using quick hands and finishing off some great ball movement with a well deserved goal, Jordy ran all day with great attack on the footy and forward pressure, and Aaron continued to win his own ball, and ply that linking role with strong hands and accurate kicking. Tom took to his role down back like a duck to water, saving goals and getting the ball out in tight situations, Chris dominated in the ruck with some great tap work and strong presence, and Jed was his ever reliable self doing the hard work in the middle, and leading the team into attack.

Pg. 15 Match Reports - Round 14 Under 11 s White cont.. Dekota impressed with his attack on the footy, and was dangerous anytime he had ball in hand, Max was solid with his unrelenting tackling and speed and ability to kick a goal, and Sam played another great game, up forward, down back and in the ruck, and being very brave and composed in shrugging of an errant tackle. Taj = used that big engine of his to create the link all over the ground, while Brody was ever the goal sneak rewarding himself with a few with some good front and square work. Thanks once again to all the volunteers and the family and friends supporting from the sidelines. Awards for the game; : Tom Fisher Team: Brody Romeo Skill: Christopher Duitsch, Max Lennox. Under 11 s White - Ben Fisher U11 s White Assistant - Darren Rieck U11 s White Team Manager - Troy Gay Under 11 s Silver Sharks Silver Broadbeach White This game resulted in nearly an identical scorecard to last week s match against Ormeau. This week though it was against a tougher side and we played a much better class of football The first half was very tough with the cats dominating and Ryno was the only goal scorer with his typical booming kick from centre half forward. The boys had it in our forward line for 50% of the time but just couldn t convert whereas the cats amassed a 26 point lead. The second half was a different matter. Taj P, Ant Mac and Cade worked the ball hard out of the midfield into our forward zone, where Solo, Mitch and Rhys made space to create targets. The defensive pressure in the second half from Crumbles, Benny J and Antonio was impressive. With all of these guys being first to the ball. While Tank made himself indispensable at full bank with his relentless efforts to keep the Cats out. Tyson and Coops were both classy with the way they moved the ball around and looked for targets. The Cats were getting cranky with our determined attack in the second half and did their best to distract our players with some tough talk and even attempted to slow the game down with some feigned injuries and back chat to the umpires. Great to see our boys stand up for their team mates and maintain their momentum by focusing on the ball which meant we won the second half by 3 goals. Unfortunately once again time was against us when we finally stepped on the gas and we fell short at the end. Dozer Mitch finished up with his little finger broken in two places which unfortunately means he will be out for the last two games. He still managed to play out the game though which is an indication of his commitment and toughness. He will be sorely missed by the boys. Goal scorers: Bailey Vassallo (Solo) 2, Cooper Clarkson (Coops) 1, Cade Gregory 1, Mitchel Pointing 1, Rhys Laurence 1 & Ryan (Ryno) Vaubell 1. I challenged the team to win the contested ball and take them on. The first quarter was close Sharks 7 Labrador 17 we were still in the game. The second quarter Labrador were putting goals on the board we weren t, the third quarter was much the same. The last quarter was even we kept Labrador to 0 goals so that was positive. Under 13 s Div 1 Kevin Kersten Assistant Leigh Warner Team Manager - Tanya Orszulak Sharks Under 14 s Div 2 Southport def Palm Beach A Friday night game at home awaited us and with finals approaching was an exciting proposition and I could tell the boys were up for it. After a really big win last week, and a 4 quarter effort, it was important we did the same this week. And that we did with another fantastic performance. I could not be more proud of you boys and we have really gone up a gear in the last couple of weeks and it s really pleasing to see. This week s challenge went to Shaun Marshall and buddy you delivered in spades. You know, coming back from injury, you haven't been at your best, but you turned a corner Friday night mate. I knew you could and it s great to see but now the challenge for you is to string a couple together and create some form going into the finals. A very big well done champ!!! I can t say enough about our on-ball brigade. Doc, Gieter, Trickey, Barry, G and Hodgy were instrumental and our centre bounce work was sensational. The work we have done on that and the way you have adapted your own flavour to it worked a treat. Jackson Irving, You have come along in leaps and bounds this year and by the end, you are gonna be a champion. Others to perform were Petty, Pregun and little Max Wenke again proved he can well and truly handle the pace. All players were again good, chiming in for the bit when needed right down to Stover and Nic just doing their bit to Skusy doing some of the tough work and Webby slotting a goal. Like I have said boys, Not everyone s part in our story is the same, but if everyone just does what their meant to, the results will come in return!!!!! I'm excited for what the future may hold boys. Destiny is in your hands... Goals: Marshall 5, Pregun 4, Caine, Petters 3, Hodgy 2, Paris, Nick, Webby - 1 Bucky. Under 14 s Div 2 Matthew Buck Assistant Glenn Griffin Team Manager - Kim Pregun

Pg. 18 Match Reports - Round 14 Sharks Under 15/18 Combined Girls Well the girls started their week off with the club photos then a short trip to Ashmore Bowling for a couple of games of ten pin bowling. It was an awesome night with the girls taking on Andrew not sure who enjoyed it more, the girls or Andrew. At this stage of the season it was just nice to be able to enjoy some time off the field and out of the cold. Many thanks to the committee for providing an activity night for the Girls teams both players and parents appreciate it. Wednesday nights games were held at Carrara this week with the 15's playing Carrara. Our girls yet again played a well rounded game of footy with great team work through the middle of the ground and the best defence leaving Carrara scoreless. There were a couple of really hard knocks and big tackles but ultimately we breed them tough at Southport with the girls playing on. Congratulations girls the season to date you remain undefeated. Our 18's girls played Broadbeach at the Carrara home ground. This was always going to be a hard contested game and with our 15's playing up into the 18's team we were going to be pushed to our limits. All credit to our girls who showed great sportsmanship clapping when an injured player came off the ground. The level of integrity regardless of the situation you girls were put in was outstanding and above it all you should be proud of how you conducted yourselves. The game did get away from us a little but the score didn't really reflect the level of footy played on the ground. Finals are around the corner go Southport Girls. 19 Pg. 19 Match Reports - Round 14 Under 16 s Div 1 Broadbeach Defeated Southport by 28 points. Our last home game for the year against Broadbeach, who were 3 rd on the ladder, was always going to be a tough assignment. We had injuries, hospitals, rep duties, the flu and work taking players away but I was confident we could do the job especially when I found out Broadie only had 17. How wrong I was. It felt flat in the rooms before the game and as much as coaches we can encourage and implore you to do the work, it all comes down to the individual, it all comes down to who wants it more as a team and it unfortunately wasn t us. We had some terrific individual efforts but we played as individuals most of the day and as a team we went down. What was the biggest let down was in the last quarter kicking with a 2-3 goal wind against a team with no reserves, we had 3 reserves to start and finished with 2, that they out ran us. They out enthused us, and outscored us. They had gut runners and we were stuffed after 2 efforts. Hopefully we can use this as an eye opener, a wakeup call that we need to work as hard as we can for 4 full quarters. That we need to work as a team, to do the shepherds, to run into space to draw our opponent away from the footy giving our mate some room. We were in the contest for much of the game but little errors seem to smack us down. Missed handballs, missed targets, dropped marks, basic mistakes we could get away with against the lesser teams are coming back to bite us against the bigger boys. Connor again was terrific today. In and under and out wide also, he was tireless and creative. Jye on the wing was electric, even copping a hard tag. He shouldn t have played with the flu, physically ill twice during the game, but finished with a gutsy four quarter effort. Bench as well never stopped, from CHF to the ruck, leading from the front as a captain does. Jasper and Mark also were physically imposing for us, getting down and dirty in the trenches. Fav finished off as a ruck rover with a couple of stop them dead tackles we could ve used in the 1 st ¼. We had boys again filter in and out of the game. Footy is 90% above the shoulders fellas. Stay mentally in the game and the rest will follow. If you are determined enough and focussed enough, the rest should follow. But we cannot do it for you. We need everyone to be switched on from the time we turn up at the ground, to the last second of the last quarter. Let s see if we can ALL get to training and turn it around for Burleigh next weekend. Thankyou to all our parentals who help out each week. It would be nice to see some new faces amongst our regulars, we need you all. Best Players; Connor, Benny, Jye, Rob, Mark, Jasper, Matt, Josh. Sorry Alison and fellas, I dropped the goal kicker s sheet again!! So from memory, Goals: Connor 3, Jack Halliwell 1, Jye 1, Rob 1, Jasper 1, Tim 1. Under 16 s Div 1 Robbie Jones Assistant Brendan Johnstone Team Manager - Alison Lind Under 16 s Div 2 We took on a strong demoted Div 1 Northern Rivers side in our last home game of the year. We started well and got a lot of drive from our midfield in the first quarter and managed to lead by the first break. We continued this again at the start of the second, but by Half time the opposition banged on 5-6 unanswered goals as our spirit dropped. In the Third Quarter the heavy rain came through which didn't help us get back into the game. Although we were playing a taller and stronger team it gives as no excuse not to man up on them. Too few players put their hand up to contribute on the weekend. We had a handful of good players including Liam Sandral who is continuing to take on the opposition with some powerful running with the ball and great chase from behind tackling, Terry Giacoumis toiled all day down back including Nathan Fisher who did his best at full back despite how many times the ball was coming down his end.

Pg. 20 Match Reports - Round 14 Under 16 s Div 2 cont.. Maxy Johnston also did his best with some tough contested possession across the Ground. One of the highlights of the day was Josh Michalski's huge side on bump that sent one of the Northern Rivers players almost ploughing into the side boundary fence. Unfortunately a free kick was awarded against him but from where I was standing it was a fair hit. Despite our heavy loss we still find ourselves in second position and winds against Coomera and Labrador over the coming 2 weeks will secure our double chance in the finals series. So heads up boys and let s extract the most we can out of a successful season to date. Thanks Again to the Zeinerts for taking over management duties while Kim was away, Dean for his assistance and Nick for his running and all other parents who assisted on the day. Goals Scorers: Lachlan Pregun 1, Jeremy Fisher 1, Rennie Mifsud 1 and Terry Giacoumis 1 Best Players: Liam Sandral, Terry Giacoumis, Nathan Fisher, Max Johnston, Josh Michalski Thanks David. Under 16 s Div 2 David Djurovitch Assistant Dean Johnson Team Manager - Kim Waugh Sharks Under 18 s Colts Bye this week. Under 18 s Community Jason Chantler Assistant Cameron Baker, Aaron Cambridge Team Manager - Michael Rumbles Sharks Under 18 s Community What a beautiful Saturday to play football, we had to play undefeated Redlands for the second time in 2 weeks. We travelled to Victoria Point to take them on to be surprised on how bad the ground was. Redlands came out of the blocks and kicked seven first quarter goal to our one. They were hungry for the ball and took as until the second quarter to start playing. We went into the game on the back of a game last week when lost by 5 points, but we had to make nine changes and that played up with our cohesion. We lost by 50 odd points in a disappointing game but the good thing there is always next week. Hopefully Kyle Bolgers knee is ok. Thanks for all the help and bring on next week.
