DROMANA JUNIOR FOOTBALL CLUB INC PO BOX 276 DROMANA, VIC, 3936 President: Steve Brindle Secretary: Michelle Buckley ABN Treasurer: Sue Bendle President and Secretary s Report - Steve Brindle and Michelle Buckley Well what a fantastic start to the 2012 season!!! We would like to take this opportunity to welcome all our new members to the club and of course our returning members too. Jumper Presentation/Open night was a huge success. Big thanks to Liz Knight Peninsula Laser Tag for providing entertainment for the children with all gold coin donations going to our Club. Peninsular Laser Tag also provide match day awards for our players plus special family discounts at peninsular laser tag for all members and more. Liz, your contribution to our club is insurmountable! Our club is growing bigger year by year and we have once again hit a record number of registrations and are also fielding a record number of teams. Please be mindful of how you conduct yourself on and off the field. Refresh yourselves by reading the Code of Conduct which have been posted on our website This applies to both players and parents ultimately your behavior is a reflection of the whole club!! We wish to point out that out Executive and General Committee are not exclusive. We are a social bunch of people and welcome any assistance or input any of you have. We are especially looking for parents in the younger age groups to come forth and get involved as ultimately the future of the Dromana Junior Football Club is in your hands!! The club can not run itself it all comes together with the dedication of the parents. The ultimate goal, is getting the kids out on the field playing football and having fun but, there is a lot of work to be done behind the scenes to make this happen! Please keep watch for your s and on our website as we have a lot of family meal nights and other social events coming up and would like to see as many of you there as possible. Just backtracking to the teams we submitted this season we submitted 2 U10 s and a team in each age group. A couple of teams were tight on numbers at the time but, an Executive decision was made as the permit situation was changed and we didn't want to lose players that were not ready to play up into the next age group. Also we didn't want the situation where a team is overloaded and all players therefore would not get reasonable game time. History tells us that this happens and at the end of the day, new care about all our members and want to see them have as much field time as possible. In saying this we have struck some difficult in a couple of areas, namely: U15 s Actually have 18 registered players and 3 more that were going to sing up!! For some reason a few of those boys have decided not to play one of the reasons being, they didn't feel their team was strong enough in numbers so they lost interest!! In doing this they have actually created the problem. The U15 s are a great group of boys that are being let down by their mates we are not even half way through the season and have time to make this team one to really contend with so if anyone knows anyone that is 14 turning 15 this year...please get them to join this team. U13 s have been struck with injuries and could do with another 3 or 4 players so if anyone knows anyone that is 12 turning 13 this year once again.. Get them to join. The cut off date for registrations is some time in June so let s get to work and find some more players for our ever growing club!! There will also be a new sub committee to deal with game day jobs and issues which will be headed by Rob Hince so anyone want to help out his the man to see. Important dates Sunday 20th May-Under 13/14 s meal night 5-8pm Friday 8th June - under 13s night match at home start 6:30pm Saturday 26th May 40th birthday Saturday 28th July - Trivia Night

Big thank you to the guys from St. Kilda for coming out on that wet and cold Tuesday night. The kids really enjoyed getting involved in the drills with the guys Social Events So tickets are on sale for our 40th Birthday Celebration and are going quick so see your team manager, committee member or the canteen to be part of what looks to be a fantastic night. Another to put in your dairy is the Trivia Night to be held on July 28th. If anyone has anything they can donate to the night that would be great. We have some great donations already with a big thanks to Mornington Peninsula Financial Solutions. Then there s are meal nights so keep an eye out for when its your turn teams turn and ask your team manager what you can do to help on the night Canteen/BBQ Well the canteen s and BBQ s have been running great this year and thanks to all that have been helping out but there s always room for more helpers. So when your kids are warming up for their games come over and help out for even half an hour as every minute helps and its always great to see new faces. Under 10 s Blacks - David Walker The last 5 rounds have seen the boys work & develop well as a team while using the skills that we have worked on during training. Whilst there is still room for improvement the boys should be extremely proud of themselves for all their efforts, achievements & great team spirit. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Bec our team manager for her support & efforts, along with all the parents who step up each & every week to help out on & off the field, it is great to see so many helping hands & I know the kids love to see their Mum s & Dad s helping too. Go the blacks!!!!

Under 10 s - Ewen Macdonald Well, what can I say, except for welcome to all new players, parents and families and thank for coming back to other families, friends and players from previous years. MY GOODNESS, what a huge difference 1 year makes to these kids, if you haven't seen them yet, do yourself a favour and come and watch them at training or in the fire and brimstone, heat of battle in a game. THEY ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First game we played Hastings, then off to Boneo.P.S. where we played Devon Meadows, our third game we played Crib Dromana main oval, followed by then finally on Sunday just gone main oval. Some of the games were played in great conditions, others were trying at times with wind and rain, but main thing is the kids are enjoying themselves and having fun. These kids, young men and women that I have got the privilege to train this year are all MAGNIFICENT!!! They are all listening at training, trying to learn as we endeavour to teach and nurture their skills and being humble at the same time. In the first 5 games of the year, they have won all 5, even though we don't score, we all know who wins. So far, we have been kicking between 6-10 goals per game, but the main thing is the way they share the ball, look out for each other, having chains of handballs and kicks to kids in positions and by themselves, looking around for options, then congratulating each other, while holding the opposition virtually scoreless until the last quarter, when they score 1-2 goals. They are all getting under the packs and using their skills to their advantage. THE COACHING STAFF, HELPERS AND FAMILES ARE ALL SO PROUD OF YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. If anyone is available to listen to them sing the theme song it is MINDBLOWING YOU COULD HEAR IT FROM THE BEACH. GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Under 11 s - Brett Reilly Welcome Tiger Cub and Parents to our under 11 report for the year! A huge welcome to our new pick ups for the club in silky skilled Dane, hard at it Harry, bustling Benny, rocket Riley, zippy Zach, electric Eden, atomic Adam and our crunch man Camo. Good to have wild man Ardy back after a year off to bolster the backline. After great numbers at training in our pre-season all was set up for a terrific start our year. The Tiger cubs started with a win at Hastings led by under 11 veterans Reece and fast Eddy and we found that teamwork and being first to the footy means we can take home the four points and sing the best song in the competition. Playing the top teams in the next weeks found us lacking in height and marking power so please parents feed the boys plenty of fruit and vegies, water them and lets hope they grow!! We found that to win games we need to play out 4 full quarters of footy. Our commitment is terrific and as our fitness and skills improve we will find ourselves in a winning position at the end of the game. The number one aim from a coach's point of view is for all the boys to improve their skills and teamwork and really love training and playing at Dromana Footy Club. Nick, Scotty and I reck'on our list of boys is the best around, so lets concentrate at training and really have a crack on game days! A huge thank you to our terrific tireless team manager Justine for all her hard work, Niffy Nick the fastest runner in the comp., super Scotty at training and every other parent for their help. Remember we are here for the kids so GET INVOLVED, IT'S YOUR CLUB! Let's have a super season! Bisho PS. Boys if we bet Rye this Sunday the mohawk is BACK ON!!! Under 13 s - Isaac Schmid Welcome back to 2012 another year of doing what we love. The boys having been trying really hard so far this season but unfortunately have not yet been able to get us a win. We have unfortunately been struck with a few injuries so our numbers are low. Was great to see those that were or are injured still come to give their team mates support at training and game day. Thanks to all the guys that make such a great effort each week getting to training and giving 100% on game day. A little bit of hard work and determination hopefully will pay off for us soon. Big thanks to all my support staff and parents for all your help on game days, but there s always lots to do so if you are able to offer your assistance to Jacqui on game day that would be fantastic.

Under 12 s - Wayne Corbett Round 1 MtMarhta Blk V MtMarthe 9.6=60 4.3=27 Our boys started the game really well, lots of effort at the ball,m the skills were a little rusty, however we manage to score in the 1st quarter, Mt Martha were a big bigger and stronger. We played the game with 16 players a side, due to us being a bit short, this probably told in the end, a big ground and we ran out of puff. I was extremely pleased with the effort from the entire team, they continued to persist throughout the game and we eventually lost by 33 to a team that will be a top team this season. Round 2 Dromana v Devon Home 5.5= =70 Another solid performance from the boys who were well in the game at half time, however we were over run in the second half by a bigger and stronger team. Some really solid efforts from Noah, Billy, Bailey.C, and Bailey.D was a highlight of the day. Our ball movement at times showed when we work together we cancompete with any team. I am extremely pleased by the continued effort from all, our tackling was fantastic. We do need to work on looking after our ball carrier, playing team footy will see us have some really strong results this season. Round 3 Dromana v Crib Home 1.1=7 4.10=34 This game was against the premier from last year, and the boys really took it up to them for a half, it was very difficult conditions with the wind, we didn't capitalize when we had the ball and let them take easy marks and run away with the footy. The upside was once again the boys endeavour and effort, the teamwork demonstrated it is starting to come together, our entire backline was very disciplined and stayed very close to their opponent as instructed. Given this was a top side I was very pleased with the effort and the scoreboard was not a true reflection of the game. Round 4 Tyabb v Tyabb 2.5= =46 We went to Tyabb on the back of some really solid efforts the previous weeks and the belief we might finally have a win. The boys took a while to get going, but we were winning in the centre and the backline was doing a fantastic job, repelling many Tyabb attacks. The team work and floow on footy were the real highlights of the day, our unselfish team play saw us kick 6 goals and continually have the ball in our forward line. It was fantastic effort from all on the day, it was extremely difficult to pick best players as the team effort was so strong, Kavan, Noah, Bailey.D, Charles & Caleb were all really solid contributors on the day. This is the first time this team has sang the club song in victory, and didn't the sing it loud. Well done boys a well deserved win. Round 5 Dromana v Dromana 1.2=8 3.10=28 After a really s, thsiolid win the week before, the boys turned up to this game very flat and not as committed to play team football as we had been in earlier weeks, we seemed to be second to the ball and always tackling,m instead of being the team getting the ball and running, sheparding and helping each other. We had a few solid contributors, Noah agai plying off the half back was solid, Billy as always was chasing and working hard for the ball, Jack Presti did a tireless job in the ruck, Tommy Bell was fantastic in the backline. We do need all boys to bring there best effort each week, this was the most disappointing effort so far this season. Overall I am really pleased with the progress of this group of boys, there effort and improvement across all areas of the game are fantastic. Keep coming to training, workj on your skills and continue enjoying your footy. Carn tigers. Wayne

Under 13 s - Isaac Schimid Firstly, thanks to all the parents who have helped out. There s always plenty of jobs to be filled on game day, and the more volunteers we have, the easier it is for everyone. If you would like to get involved, please come and speak to me or Jacqui Hince (team manager). I would also like to make an official welcome to our new recruits this year. Wade Chamberlain has come over from W.A and has slotted easily into our midfield. He s a tough rover with pace to burn and silky skills. Blake Newcombe has come down from Queensland, and he s shown great leadership at training and during games. He s also a great runner with a smart footy brain. Lachlan Mckenzie has come across from Rosebud, and he s had a huge impact on the team. Whether he s in the ruck, in the last line of defence or up forward, he has taken plenty of strong marks and shown his team mates how to attack the footy. Gus Coombs has never played before, but in a couple of games he s already shown that he is a tough competitor prepared to put his body on the line for his team mates. We also welcome back Wylie Charles, who was going to play tennis this season but has decided to come back to the footy club. As most spectators would be aware, we have struggled to field a full side this year, so a HUGE thanks goes to the Under 12 s who have filled in for us, particularly Zac Thomson, who has become a regular feature of our side. Thanks also to Kavan Bendle, Billy Guerts, Jon Mcgennisken and Hunter Story. All great footballers, and great young blokes. Congratulations also go to Harry Hince and Lachlam Mckenzie for being chosen as our onfield leaders this year. We have had some bad luck with injuries this year, mainly with Max Gorman-Batt and Jack Stewart, who have both been hobbling around on crutches. We wish them both a speedy recovery. They are both important members of our midfield, and we look forward to having them back in the side. To all the players, I know it s been a tough start to the season, but let s stick together, work hard and enjoy our footy. I m proud to coach you all. Go Tigers! Isaac. Under 14 s - Adrian Kennedy Welcome to the parents and players for the 2012 season. We have had a few new players join the club, with many of our current players bring their friends to join the under 14 s. we have now progressed to 18 registered players. This is a great achievement considering at the jumper presentation we only had 13 players. Credit must go to the boys for wanting to make a difference to the success of the under 14 s this year. I would like to congratulate our Co Captains, Sam Fowler and Corey Buckley, also our Vice Captain Tyler Huy. Their leadership, commitment to training and the way they play the game, is a great example of passion towards their club and the game. Our first game against Mt Martha was a bit of a shock to the boys. With new players not being familiar with each others game the fought the game out well. sadly we were beaten by 22 goals. This was a good learning curve for the boys, as to what is the expected standard of football in under 14 s. Our second game was unknown, having not played Devon Meadows before, we did not know what to expect. To the boys credit, we bounced back against our loss from the week before and won. This was the first time for many of the boys singing the club theme song in over 2 years. It was an emotional win for all involved. Their preseason training was starting to pay off. The next two games were of similar standard; however we kept Crib Point on the run all day only to lose by 8 points. The boy s then backed up the following week to win convincingly against Tyabb. Our loss to Sorrento hit us hard us a team., we knew that the top side was going to be a challenge. To the boys credit they kept them goal less in the 3rd quarter and the improvement from the previous weeks really started to show in the second half. As the weather starts to get colder, each week the numbers are starting to dwindle at training. This is a concern as, it is important for all the boys to attend training so that we can continue with our growth as a team. As coach of under 14 s I believe the boys have a real opportunity to play finals football. In order to make this happen, we require more parent participation. The more help we receive to support these boys, I believe they will become a highly successful side. Cheers, Coach Kennedy!

Under 15 s - David Clough A big welcome back to both players and parents, to the 2012 U15 s Tigers. It s well known that the U15 s have been hard up for numbers this year and we have all been working hard to recruit some new blood into the team. A big welcome to Sean, James, Rhys and Dobbo who are new to the team this year. Congratulations to our Captain and Vice Captain for the season..corey Sheppard (Captain) and Jaycob Carter (Vice Captain) have been leaders on and off the field for several years now, earning the respect of teammates, opponents, parents and officials. Our team has had a difficult start, mainly due to numbers, yet we have managed to improve many aspects of our game from last year. Our inside 50 s, Ruck and clearances have been a highlight so far. Brandon Williams has taken on a huge responsibility as our primary ruckman and has taken to the job like a duck to water. Dobbo is starting to really feed off the play and proving to be a star around stoppages. There is plenty to like about these boys, their commitment to the club and their teammates goes without question. When they go out on a footy field representing the Dromana Tigers with only 14 players every week, knowing your going to be outnumbered, yet still giving it their all, you know you have got courage and character. I came across a saying that I think sums up the character of these U15 boys Anyone can give up, it s the easiest thing to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you gave up that s true strength. A huge thanks to Michelle Andrews for being our team manager again this year, Rob (Trainer), Mick (Walker), Luke (Boundary) and parents for helping out each week. The smaller number of players has meant a smaller number of parents to help and we really appreciate those that are putting their hand up each week. GO TIGERS! Under 16 s - Damon Quigley Hello all and all the best for the 2012 season. In the 16 s we had a terrific pre season with some diverse training from 4km time trials to stair runs to beach tug a wars. Our first battle was against South Mornington at south which has always been a tough contest. The day saw the score pretty even until we broke away and took the win by 9 goals. Syd and Dingo had jobs to do and succeeded. Best: Dingo, Billy, Jacko and Jess. Dromana v Sth Morn We then took on Devon Meadows and started like a raging bull. 6 goals in first quarter and 10 for the day. Tells you what happened. Second to the ball, shrugged tackles. A three quarter time brake did not do much. Our back 6 were terrific, mid ok although there number 13 cut us up. Spuda responded well, our forward press was half hearted. We must be 100% on everything. Best: Jordo, Knighty, Wados,Bucks, Tickler and Jess. Dromana V Dev Meadows The next week we trained well and responded like true champions. Travelled up the hill and asked if anyone wasn t 100% committed or I ll play with 16. We had 18 committed footballers. Sheepdogs, tackles, the whole box and dice. Dromana V Red Hill tackles/34 clearances/46 inside 50 s. season High. Thanks Whale for stats. Jordo and Maccas pressed excellently. Dingo played a wing switch to perfection. Best players: all 18 Rosebud are a good side always been close, we arm wrestled all day. Got out to a 6 goal lead won by 3. Gutsy win, we never dropped our head, persist, persist, persist. Best: Geurta, Jacko,Bickies,Shep(15 s),spuda, bucks, Syd and Macca Pearcedale away last week and probable could have kicked over 30 goals had we opened up a bit. Dromana V Pearcedale Bickies finding his way beautifully back there. Jess kicked another bag. Sammy G, Billy Q and Wildman did what they liked as Jacko gave them 1 st use. Our under 15 were terrific in Rhys, Billy and Shep who snagged another lazy 3. So we are 4 and 1 at the moment I am very proud of the way these boys are training, not only on the track but as young men. We have set ourselves a block and are aiming towards that. We will reassess in 2 weeks time. A big clap to Travis Mc (Boundary rider) Muzza (Inter) Bretta (Flag Specialist) Time Keepers-Dunlop and helpers, Micko G (pigeon) Old man Dingo (TM) Buckaroony (Bandaids) Davey H20 Brett inside 50 Whale, and of course all of our hard working committee. Remember all, keep encouraging them champs
