It would be nice if I could start this message with good news. But this is not the case. For the last five (5) newsletters I have indicated that I would be stepping down at the end of this term. I have done everything short of begging to get some one to come forward and take up the control of the Region. As of this writing I have not heard one word from anyone wanting to keep the Region alive. So here is how it stands as of July 1, John Nabet will leave office on Dec.31, 2016 vacating the office of President for Region #39. Royal Knab first VP will not take the office of President so he will have to step down as First VP. Joann Roberts is moving to a different Region and will not be filling any office of this Region. Third VP Henry Kuhn does not wish to take the helm and will be stepping down from office. Bruce Brown, Secretary / Treasurer is also stepping down from both positions. Thus leaving the Region with NO Board. This will result in the demise of our Region. Since no one is there to help make the Region flourish there shall be no Region. That will be a sad DAY. Sad Days have hit our Region in another way. We have lost two great people from Region # 39. Our first loss was the wife of our first VP Roy Knab. His Beloved Myrna Grace Knab left us for a Better Place on May 28, She was ever present at all our Region meetings and brought joy and happiness where ever she want. You never heard her speak bad about anyone and gave her all for those around her. Even in her bad days of illness she would be there. So much Love, such a Great Loss. God be with you Myrna, for You Have found Peace in his Arms On June 4 th 2016 the day of Myrna s memorial service I was informed of the loss of Retired NYPD Police Officer Nicholas F. Fabrizio. Again what can be said. He was a member of our Region for as long as I can remember. He never had a bad word about anyone or anything. His loving wife Joan was always at his side. When you saw Nick all you saw was a big smile. Nick was our NDC rep for many years and he loved the IPA. It is truly sad when we lose such great people. Nick loved his God his Faith, his Family and his Country. He is now at Peace in the Arms of his Lord. On another note, Tom Odell our past Treasurer is in hospital with GREAT problems. The last being a stroke. I do not have more info on Tom but I would ask all to Pray or him. We still have the business of visitors coming from over the pond and I will endeavor to assist as long as I am in office. Remember a Region is more than the Board. 3 Steven Crane's Sanctuary Ridge Footgolf Opened with Great Excitement for New Sport in Clermont By Alicia Weber I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the grand opening for the Sanctuary Ridge Footgolf Course back on May 15 in Clermont. Steven Crane designed this course in nine hours over four days. He has only been playing Footgolf for 18 months and in this time frame he was on the USA Team, which won the Wodd Cup back in January 2016' He also became the first person to kick a hole in one at the Wodd Cup. Crane along with others are growing the sport of Footgolf in Florida. Now, on Tuesday evenings starting on June 21, people can join a Footgolf League at Sanctuary Ridge Golf Club. "l love footgolf because it's very accessible. You don't need to be a soccer player to have fun and play footgolf. We would like to see the sport grow as it's a great physical activity. Adults and kids can play," said Kelly Morphy, the 2015 Women's Footgolf Florida Champion. I have zero experience with soccer and I look forward to giving footgolf a kick this summer. it was such an honor to watch and meet with Steve Crane, Kelly Morphy, and Tom Sermanni at the grand opening. Tom Sermanni is currently the head coach of the Orlando Pride National Women's Soccer League. "Footgolf is a soccer-based sport, so all your skills and techniques can come through. lt's fun, challenging, and competitive. lt brings out a lot of stuff that is both valuable and fun for a pro soccer player," said Sermanni who had the ceremonial first kick at the Grand Opening. ln footgolf a soccer ball is kicked on a golf course where buckets are the holes. The fewest kicks win. No scooping is allowed. Your foot must hit the ball for it to count. Ball markers get placed in the ground to show where the ball stops on the green. This is what separates the good and the great players apart. If you want to do something, then the world is yours. Put your mind to it, use the 3D's, and you're on the right path," mentioned Steve Crane, the director and founder of Striker Soccer and the coach of the precocious athlete and honor roll student, Cody Warner. Back when Warner was four, he became my youngest archery student and went on to take second in a competition. Now, he has added soccer and hockey to his list of sports. ln the fall, Warner will be on Crane's L6 week 3 vs. 3 tournament league for ages 5-6. Crane knew after his first practice that he had what it takes to play in tournament league. "Cody is great, aggressive, and not shy. He listens to his coaches and keeps getting better," added Crane. Warner and other youths agree that listening to your coach and staying focused on the task at hand is what they consider to be discipline. Cody was part of a one mile cross country run world record, which he participated in June 1, 2016, Global Running Day. He never ran a mile, much less a mile race on rolling terrain with a 105 heat index. He was given the guidelines to do the best he could and not compare himself to older athletes competing. Cody, 6, beat all the kids who were eight years older than him and he finished first in a remarkable time of 7:18. "I'm proud of him. I strive for him to be a well-rounded individual," mentioned his mom, Victoria Warner. Being well-rounded is a big part of the life of 6th grader, Sona Dhanji. She began as one of the few girls to play baseball. Then, she picked up year-round competitive volleyball and dance team. Her latest ambition has been to become an archer. She just won an archery championship for girls ages "The number one step for success is that you have to be committed. You have to be totally in love with what you are doing, so you can give your very best effort and achieve great success," explained Dhanji who believes commitment leads to dedication. Dhanji has the ability to block out all the drama around her and rise to the top in everything she does, which she feels is a key to discipline, She's a straight A student except for one B+ this semester, She also takes 7th grade math. She first experienced determination when she played baseball with boys for 3 years. lt became determined because I was the only girl," said Dhanji, She once again stood out as the only girl as she became a world record holder and the only youth female to participate in a one mile cross country running race in Clermont for Global Running Day where she clocked 8:32' These Clermont youth stars understand that you aim high, apply the 3D's, keep going strong, and success will come. 3

5 Men don't listen Wanda's dishwasher quit working so she called in a repairman. Since she had to go to work the next day, she told the repairman, "I'll leave the key under the mat. Fix the dishwasher, leave the bill on the counter, and I'll mail you a check. Oh, by the way don't worry about my dog Spike. He won't bother you." "But, whatever you do, do NOT, under ANY circumstances, talk to my parrot!" "I MUST STRESS TO YOU: DO NOT TALK TO MY PARROT!!!" When the repairman arrived at Wanda's apartment the following day, he discovered the biggest, meanest looking dog he had ever seen. But, just as Wanda said, the dog just lay there on the carpet watching the repairman go about his work. The parrot, however, drove him nuts the whole time with his incessant yelling, cursing and name calling. Finally the repairman couldn't contain himself any longer and yelled, "Shut up, you stupid, ugly bird!" To which the parrot replied, "Get him Spike!" See - Men just don't listen! 5

7 An important message from the Secretary/Newsletter Editor When the President John Nabet steps down as President, the IPA rules say that the next in line who is the 1 st Vice President will step up to fill the spot. Everyone on the board will also move up on the board. At this time no one is willing to do this. I, Bruce Brown, volunteered as President from Jan 1995 to Dec 2004, 6 terms. I volunteered for the Secretary position from Jan 1995 to Dec 1998, Jan 2004 to Dec 2004, and Jan 2007 to the present time, for 14 terms. I am now 78 and decided it was time to step down from the Secretary/Treasurer and Newsletter Reporter, Editor, and Publisher positions. If no one steps up to volunteer for the board this region, Region 39 will no longer exist. The funds in the treasury will be turned over to the National Board along with the membership list. So after this rambling message, I hope someone will step up and volunteer to be on the board. Since I have been the Newsletter Editor, I changed the format for the newsletter, but I did not receive any comment regarding this change or any comment about the newsletter. I again wonder if anyone does read it? 7
