Shield Final Win For U-15A Footballers Our U15A footballers emerged victorious on Sunday after an extremely challenging encounter with division 1 side Skerries Harps. After overcoming difficult opposition along the route to the final including division 1 Whitehall, the players were in good spirits heading into the final. However all didn't look so good after 15 minutes when we trailed 1-5 to 0-1. Great determination and hard work from all players began to pay off as the team grinded their way back into the game. With 2 goals before half time, one a penalty, we were level at half time having played against the wind. A strong start to the second half had us 7 in the lead, with credit to Eoghan Brady for finishing a great team move to score the team's 3rd goal of the game, but Skerries fought their way back into the game. With time ticking down there was 4 points in it, and as Skerries converted a penalty, a single point was between the teams. However, upon the kickout, the referee blew the final whistle. A great achievement for all players involved. The team rewarded for 12 months of hard work put in on and off the pitch. Special praise to Paul Smith for being on hand to present the medals and Shield after the game. Squad: Jamie O Brien, Luke Keenan, Adam Berrigan, Adam Rafter, Eoin Killarney, Eoghan Brady, James Byrne, Sean Smith, Dan Barry, Harry Murray, Liam Gaughran, Eoin Flaherty, Adam Moran, Jack Fincuilli, Paraic Daniels, Seanan Hession, Donal Smithers, Matthew Fagan, Tom Gleeson, Ronan Barrett, Eoin Rutledge, Sean O Sullivan 11ú Samhain

Club Shops Open Tomorrow The Club Hurley shop, located near the outdoor ball alley is open for business every Saturday morning. All your hurling needs and plenty of advice available here from Seosamh Breathnach. Na Fianna Club Shop, located in the Clubhouse foyer, will also be open tomorrow, Saturday 12th from 9am to 1pm. Coffee with a smile available, as always, at the Coffee Shack from our hard working team. Calling All Ladies Footballers Commencing last Wednesday 9th November, and continuing for the next three Wednesdays, all ladies footballers who are or might be interested in playing football next season are invited to attend training at 9.15pm. This coming Wednesday's training will be on the all-weather in the club. It would be great to get as many as possible existing players, players who may have quit but might be interested in returning, 1998 girls who are emerging from the minor ranks and anyone else eligible and with an interest in turning out for the club, to attend. Attendance does not amount to a commitment to play next season. The club's aspiration is to field three teams next season catering for every ability and to ensure every player plenty of game time. Please encourage all your playing colleagues, ex playing colleagues and anyone else who might be interested, to try it out. 11ú Samhain

Closing The Strictly Chapter It's always a challenge to articulate the full extent of the community that is Na Fianna. The range of activities we engage in are so diverse. We only operate with the amazing support of all the community and the voluntary effort of so many of all ages. While we have few occasions to reflect upon the Club s cultural impact on our area, there are fewer occasions that capture the essence and spirit of our community. The recent staging of Na Fianna Does Strictly was one such memorable occasion. It was a club night to remember for all those who attended and took part. From the birth of the project to its delivery it was a journey which showcased the best of community involvement and the power of positive collective club action. The concept was the brain child of Doctor Donal Buggy who having seen Strictly in action for The Mater Hospital was convinced that it would be ideal for Na Fianna. After some "gentle" convincing from The Doctor early in the year - the event was headed up by the club fundraising officer Cormac Ó Donnchú who quickly secured the partnership of Stephen Behan. From there on in the project developed a life of its own and the small team was supplemented by marketing expert Neil Mulhern. The first milestone of the project was securing the services of our Dance Instructor - the wonderfully talented and even more patient - June Carr. Once appointed June was joined by 11ú Samhain

our very own dance expert Muiread Gaffney. The full strictly pre event team was then completed by the quiet men of Philip O'Brien and Alan Mc Hugh who were set to work their magic on the programme and sponsor administration. As we all know, Mentors and Teachers perform best when pushed to their limits - so we secured 28 wonderful Club Members ably qualified to push the mentors to those limits. The dancers were selected and recruited to represent a cross section of the club from Senior Hurlers & Footballers to just seniors! What an amazing group they all were! The full group (dancers and background crew) worked so hard for 7 weeks preparing to dance and securing support of sponsors and guests. The dancers every move was shadowed and communicated to a growing audience by our secret reporters - Jules Cooper and Ciara Mc Gowan. Anticipation was building. The word was spreading and interest was growing. The marketing campaign was so successful that the original venue of Scoil Chaitríona was sold out almost as soon as tickets became available. Now the pressure was on and in the background a bigger plan was hatching. Under serious pressure for tickets, securing a bigger venue was the task at hand and who best to enter the story at this stage than our very own Club Super Hero Jonny Cooper - it was with the help of Jonny s personal intervention that the Helix was secured. Game on! It was announced to the dismay of the dancers that they were heading to the big stage and did the atmosphere change or what? The guys knuckled down to the task at hand - practice became more intense and costume choices were more outrageous! Tickets sold out and Neil O Ceallachain was co-opted in as front of house manager. While the dancers prepared - the back room team ramped up the plans. Videos were completed, programmes produced, running orders agreed, costumes confirmed, dress rehearsals arranged and the judges and MC met up for their preparations. As he has done on many occasions before, our resident Sky Sports pundit Senan Connell put in a top class shift making sure the show went smoothly on the night. It was great to have our judges, Jonny, Shane, Linda and Fergus in the line up - they played a blinder on the night - but it was not by chance they too were well prepared. To ensure that the club remained the focus 11ú Samhain

of the evening, a special welcome home party was arranged for Mobhi Road and a fleet of coaches were arranged to ferry guests directly back to the party after the show. With all the prep work done it all culminated in the night of the show and did they perform?? Did they what?? Fourteen couples - twenty eight individual dancers performed in front of over 1000 in the audience - and performed wonderfully. What a group they were - each one brought a positive attitude to the group - individually they were a pleasure to be around - collectively they were inspirational. It is impossible to single out one team for mention - they were all incredible. Ciaran and Debbie were crowned King and Queen while Richie and Darina were awarded the Judges prize in a very close contest. The winner announced and the celebrations began - the homecoming party was a night to remember -The common refrain was that the club has not witnessed a night of celebration on this scale since the late 1990's. It was just EPIC! In a week when we're all surrounded by negativity and uncertainty it's uplifting to reflect on a collective effort that delivered a real feeling of community. It was an affirmation that by working together all things are possible! When the members of Na Fianna put their collective minds to work on a single task, the results are simply amazing. This has been proven time and time again, and based on the goodwill and feel good factor resulting from Strictly, there is no limit to what we can achieve together. As we close the door on one of our most successful fundraising events ever, all involved can take a well-earned rest and reflect on all they have achieved. And it wasn't bad fun either! Well done all. 11ú Samhain
