As usual there was much food, drink and chatting loudly. We were fortunate that all remnants of the previous week s snow storm were behind us. Table on the Green continued their track record with excellent food and service. We had hoped to have wonderful of everyone enjoying themselves but technology outsmarted us again and alas no pictures. But here is a sample of what happened that night. We were delighted by a quartet from the Golf Capital Chorus to kick off the evening and then the sumptuous appetizers and finally the highlight of the meeting election of the new Officers. The current Board had voted by 82% majority to amend the bylaws so the past president would continue in an ex officio position to advise the current Board with privilege of one vote the same as all other Board members. Elly Moses thanked the current Board for their service and announced the proposed new officers: President Vice President Treasurer Secretary Past President Sue Griggs Virginia Ciadella Fred Nueinghoff Barbara Nueinghoff Elly Moses

A motion was made to elect these candidates which was passed unanimously. The complete list of new co-chairs of all the committees of Act 2 is available on our website as are the updated by-laws.

BOOK CLUB On Monday, March the 24 th at 12:30 the Book Club will meet at Anne Flood s home, 105 Briarwood Circle, 215-0074.

And lest we forget how fickle the weather can be, here is a reminder of a beautiful day in Pinehurst. BOOK CLUB On Monday, March the 24 th at 12:30 the Book Club will meet at Anne Flood s home, 105 Briarwood Circle, Elly Ray will lead the discussion of Seating Arrangements by Maggie Shipstead. The Van Meters have gathered at their family retreat on the island of Waskeke to celebrate the marriage of daughter Daphne to the impeccably appropriate Greyson Duff. The weekend is full of champagne, salt air and practiced bonhomie, but long-buried discontent and simmering lust stir beneath the surface. When old resentments, a beached whale and an escaped lobster are added to the mix, the wedding that should have gone off with military precision threatens to become a spectacle of misbehavior. An acclaimed author and historian, Brinkley has drawn upon recently disclosed letters, diaries, and other artifacts at the recently opened Cronkite Archive to bring detail and depth to this deeply personal portrait of an American legend: renowned news anchor Walter Cronkite He also interviewed nearly two hundred of Cronkite s closest friends and colleagues, including Andy Rooney, Leslie Stahl, Barbara Walters, Dan Rather, Brian Williams, Les Moonves, Christiane Amanpour, Katie Couric, Bob Schieffer, Ted Turner, Jimmy Buffett, and Morley Safer, using their voices to instill dignity and humanity in this study of one of America s most beloved and trusted public figures. 3 BRIDGE Ladies Bridge The holidays are now behind us and it is too cold for normal people to play golf, so give Bridge a try. You don t have to be an expert or even a long time player, we welcome any one who can hold cards and knows how to bid. This is probably one of the kindest bridge groups in Pinehurst so give us a try. We will meet on he first and third Wednesday in March from 9:30 to Noon in the Pinehurst Members Activity Room. So put March 5 th and 19 th on your calendar and let Judy know which date to expect you. Then all you have to do is show up, pay $1.00 and have fun!! And if you make back your dollar (or more) you are ahead of the game. Mark your calendar. We will gather at the Sandhills Women s Exchange, 15 Azalea Rd (across from the Village Chapel) in

Pinehurst. As always, we will begin to order at noon. The Sandhills Women s Exchange is such an historic place, having been in business for 91 years. There are many home-made things to buy.

I love the marinated vegetables, one of the choices of sides. The restaurant features sandwiches and salads. Their chicken salad is also a favorite.

Sunday Social After the Holiday break, Sunday Social resumes with the popular Fairway Breakfast at the Pinehurst Member s Club, Sunday, March 9th, from 12.00 2.00 pm.

We usually have a section reserved for us to be together, and the cost per person will be $13.95 plus tax and gratuities. All Act II members may pay by Club account or credit card.

But I do love the restaurant. I can never decide whether to order the shrimp salad or the chili. I feel the shrimp salad, and the chili are the best in the area. They tell me that tables of 6 or 8 work best for the trivia part of the evening, so if you want to get your own table of Act 2 buddies together, please do! Just me with all of the names. The Wednesday group now meets in the Cannon Park parking lot on Rattlesnake Road near 211 (across from Manor Care). The Saturday group meets at the bottom of the steps in the Reservoir Park parking lot on Route 22.
