The Post Office is getting very strict, and the checks are not getting delivered to the bank (maybe it is all those budget cuts, we know how that is and how cranky it can make one)! EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS RETREAT Please join us for the ED Retreat on June 19-20, The Retreat is being held at the Pere Marquette Lodge and Conference Center in Grafton, Illinois. It is set in the rolling bluffs just outside Graton overlooking the scenic Illinois River. The area is a treasuretrove of nature and beauty, just the place to gather with your peers, exchange ideas to refresh your mind and spirit to return to your HA renewed and a more productive leader. The Retreat begins with lunch (your treat) at 11:30 am at the Lodge on Tuesday, June 19 concluding at 12 noon on Wednesday, June 20. The cost is $75.00 per person with spouses invited to attend if you wish, for an additional $50.00 to cover costs of spouses meals. Call the Perre Marquette Lodge to reserve your hotel room at $70.00 per night at Mail your check for $75.00 for the Retreat registration to the Lockbox address above or you may pay by Visa or MasterCard at the website. The Coordinators could not have manage without them. UNFORTUNATELY FOR THE IAHA, these gentleman have decided to pass the wrench to someone new. If you be willing to play a part in the maintenance training committee for 2013 please inform your Council Presidents. Directors and CEO s, PLEASE pass this on to your maintenance staff: The Coordinator is asking all the maintenance staff of each Housing Authority to help with the planning of the 2013 clinic (this DOES NOT require you to be on the committee if you do not wish). Inform the Coordinator what you would like to see in the maintenance training area for future clinics. If you have a suggestion for a class and know of a trainer/teacher/company who would conduct the training that you would like to see at a future clinic. If you know of any trainer/company/person who does training similar to the Waterman Training Associates, the Clinic could have both Waterman Training Assoc. and another company/trainer participate in the clinic which would result in twice as many people participating in those type trainings. As most of you know, at this time the maximum number of people that can participate in a class is only 21 people each day in the Waterman s classes. PLEASE or CALL Debbie Smith, Coordinator at dlsmith@fairfieldwireless.net or with your information. The Coordinator will take it from there to do the rest of the work. NOW THE CHALLENGE: Mr. Mike Coad from Granite City HA has already volunteered for the maintenance training committee. He thinks he already has this wrapped up for 2013 because he gave a recommendation before the Coordinator was able to get this proposal out to everyone. Surely, there are some of you who want to give him a run for his dinner! The Coordinator is waiting for those calls! The M/M Committees cannot give you the training you want, if they do not know what it is you are hoping to train on at the Clinic M / M C O M M I T T E E M E E T I N G : The first committee planning meeting for the 2013 Maintenance Management Clinic will be held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting on September 27, The time will be announced in the Agenda for the Annual Meeting once everything is set in place. See the 2012 M/M Clinic Pictures at the end of the newsletter. N O T E T O A L L : There are always so many great pictures to share, but if all the pictures with all the names were placed in the newsletter it would be 25 pages (or more). There is no order in which the pictures are placed. I try to get different people, businesses etc. in each year.

3 The 2012 Annual Meeting will be held September in Springfield, Illinois at the Crown Plaza Hotel. Teresa Greenstreet, Chairman of the Awards Committee will want all Councils to start compiling their lists of nominees for the Annual HA Awards which include but are not limited to the following: 1. CREATIVITY 2. OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE 3. RESIDENT RELATIONS 4. ACHIEVEMENT - MISC. 5. HUD STAFF AWARD 6. DAVID W. MORGAN AWARD Bill Jacobs and Mark Sosnowski will once again be steering the Silent Auction. Begin searching for that special item from a local artist or one that represents your area. As an associate member of the IAHA you may register for and attend the IAHA Annual Meeting. Vendors sponsoring the golf outing will receive a complimentary vendor booth during the annual meeting. Vendors may begin setting up their booth prior to the golf outing on Tuesday. However, the tables must be removed before 10 am Friday morning. The golf outing is a scramble format with a 12:30 pm shotgun start. The IAHA will provide games on the course, a catered lunch, cold beverages, and great company to share them with. Please support the IAHA efforts by participating as a golfer, activity sponsor, pin sponsor, or by donating a prize. The price of admission is $100 per person, $400 per foursome, $50 for all non-golfers. Registrations are limited to the first 72 paid golfers and are due to the IAHA by Sept. 16, Mail the registration form on Page five of the this newsletter along with your check made payable to the IAHA in an envelope marked Golf Outing to: IAHA P.O.
