Well the pool is open and children and youngsters are back having fun at the Club. I want to thank our Business Manager, Alexandra Walthall, who assists in managing the pool area every summer and in getting it ready for the season. Alexandra worked very hard and long hours and she deserves our recognition. I want to express my appreciation to the outgoing Board members, Dale Smart, Craig Griffin, and Joyce Carter for their hard work, guidance, and support throughout this past year. I also want to extend a big welcome to our newly elected Board members, Jay Staggs, Tricia Hammons, and Rodney Barnette. I look forward to working with them and the rest of the Board to continue to grow and improve our Club operations. Member Appreciation Golf Tournament News From the Golf Shop Oil Belt 4 Ball Fajita Bar We have quite a few events planned for you in June of which I hope you and your family will take advantage. Starting with the first ever Whiskey and Bourbon Tasting on the 11 th, followed by the Kids Summer Camp the 16 th 19 th, then the Oil Belt Four Ball on the 20 th and 21 st, preceded by a Mexican Fajita Bar on the Patio Friday night the 19 th with live music provided by Amy Allen, Best Friend Day at the pool on the 20 th, Father s Day Buffet on the 21 st, and ending with a Crawfish Boil on the 25 th. Birthday Lunch Wine of the Month Best Friends Day Crawfish Boil Club Member Appreciation Day Father s Day Buffet Bourbon & Whiskey Tasting Calendar Our Wine of the Month for June is a crisp and refreshing Pinot Grigio made by Woodbridge by Robert Monday. On a personal note, I would like to announce that my wife and I have bought a house in El Dorado and should be moving in the middle of June. Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. 2 P A G E 2 Women s Golf Association News Tournament season has arrived. Several tournaments have been played (if not rained out) and others are definitely on the horizon. Some players will have played out of town before this is published. There were tournaments at Southern Trace (Shreveport), Calvert Crossing ( West Monroe) May 16th, and Pine Hills (Smackover) May 19th and 20th. The Monticello Ladies Classic is scheduled for June 10th and Camden has their Rally for the Cure June 11th. Locally, the Country Club will host the Member Appreciation A-B-C-D Tournament with the barbecue lunch following play Saturday, June 13th. Also in June is the Carter Cup (Ryder Cup Format) on June 16th and 17th. This tournament is absolutely the most fun and open to WGA members only! Will and Seth will be captains again this year. Teams will be determined by Handicap Captain selection. Anyone not familiar with the Ryder Cup Format the first day of play Match #1 will be Scramble; Match #2 Best Ball. Second day of play will be Match #3 Alternate Shot Format and Match #4 Individual Matches. Players earn points for their team. The team with the most points wins the Carter Cup 2015! WGA members are on the road and representing the club well. The Smackover Ladies Invitational Classic winners are as followed: Championship Flight: Margaret McConathy and Sandra Wasson, Second Place. First Flight: Jean Williams and Mary Guthrie, First Place; Trish Brantley and Sharolyn Givens, Second Place. Third Flight: Maxine Canterbury and Anne Cody, First Place; Jaunita Pyle and her partner, Second Place. The golfer for the month of June is Joyce Carter. Joyce is given credit for bringing the WGA the Carter Cup Tournament rightfully so! This tournament was truly her idea approximately 11 years ago. I believe the first year was When a person says, time flies when you are having fun! the Carter Cup tournament definitely applies. A Club Champion, a past Treasurer of the WGA and serving on other committees, when she retired from South Arkansas Oil Company the WGA and playing golf became her passion. Joyce is a fun person to play golf with and a huge supporter of the WGA. See you on the course! ENTRY FEE: CART FEE ONLY! 1:00 PM SHOTGUN Must be a member to sign up! CLAIM THE TITLE OF CHAMPION! After the tournament come out and enjoy an amazing BBQ Member Appreciation Dinner To Follow The Round ONLY $12 + Tax a Person! (Please Make Dinner Reservations!)

3 News From the Golf Shop P A G E 3 The heat is finally starting to come around and it is beginning to feel a little bit like summer! Our new golf cart fleet has come in. The carts look great and are ready for the summer! The golf shop is now showing its summer lines for both men and women, as well as a few new golf accessories.
