3 EVENT BASICS INCEPTION Create a budget outlining all possible expenses. o Always retain a minimum of 25% for your Chapter o Set fundraising goal o Set ticket/sponsorship prices Create sponsorship packet/marketing materials o Distribute to prospect list Identify state laws & licensing Identify location & date *ALL CONTRACTS MUST BE REVIEWED BY NFLA NATIONAL OFFICE PRIOR TO EXECUTION- SEND TO SAMANTHA.ARNONE@NFLALUMNI.ORG o Research your local area calendar of events to avoid hosting an event the same day as a large scale event o Execute agreement with venue To include expectations of both parties Payment schedule Term Logo usage guidelines Identify the beneficiary o Execute agreement with beneficiary Identify most recognizable NFLA player members o Execute agreement with NFLA member(s) to secure their attendance o It s beneficial to have early commitment from former NFL players for event promotion Create/update event website& Eventbrite Identify main points of contact and outline responsibilities Create event timeline that includes deadline dates

4 EVENT BASICS CONTINUED PLANNING Compose press release for the event and send to for approval o Chapter independently distributes press release Secure event insurance if necessary Recruit Volunteers and assign responsibilities o Silent Auction Set-up Registration Check-out o Liaison for former NFLA player members Food & drink tickets Autograph signing Photo opportunities o Social Media/Photographer Post moments from the event on Chapter s social media channels Book photographers, entertainment if necessary Order gifts and volunteer shirts Design/produce collateral/signage for event Determine decor Collect auction items Coordinate financial needs with National Office o CC swipes o Petty cash Send all guests, volunteers, and talent an event timeline outlining schedule of events and arrival times.

7 CHEERS FOR CHARITY This event features a NFL Alumni player member as a celebrity bartender serving beer and wine, silent auction, other former NFL player members for autographs and photo opportunities. This event works best during the football season focusing on game days/nights. I. USE AND APPLY THE EVENT BASICS ON PAGE 3 & 4

8 TASTINGS- BEER, WINE, ETC. Though similar to a Cheers for Charity the Tastings event is a smaller more intimate setting. Your chapter will want to have an expert or experts on hand to describe the product being served to your coinsurers in attendance. I. USE AND APPLY THE EVENT BASICS ON PAGE 3 & 4 II. SPECIFICS TO A TASTINGS EVENT WOULD BE: a. Seek out distibutors who will donate product for the event b. Include Experts to lead the tasting and answer questions

9 BOWLING Bowling! Because who doesn t enjoy bowling? This is a great fundraising event that former players can include their family in as well as kids the chapter is raising funds for. I. USE AND APPLY THE EVENT BASICS ON PAGE 3 & 4

10 DODGEBALL- TRAMPOLINE PARK This is a fun way to raise funds and get in a workout at the same time. Much like the concept of partnering an NFL Alumni with a team for golf your chapter will elevate the team by assigning an NFL Alumni with a team of eight players on a corporate sponsored team as the team captain or coach depending on how nimble the Alum is. The players will all have to sign a waiver and participants must be at least 18 years of age to compete however, most trampoline parks will have a designated area for participants children to jump and play. 11 SPORTING CLAY SHOOT Sporting Clays was one of the original fundraising events chapters started hosting and have continued in popularity. This tournament allows for chapters to tap into another source of income and run much like a golf tournament. Suggested charity partners are the Boy Scouts or other outdoor youth related charity. I. USE AND APPLY THE EVENT BASICS ON PAGE 3 & 4 II. SPECIFICS TO A SPORTING CLAY SHOOT EVENT WOULD BE: a. Make sure participants receive the appropriate safety gear and firearm handling instructions (the shooting range will provide an instructor to coordinate)

12 CELEBRITY CHEF EXPERIENCE NFL Alumni spice things up as they compete against each other to prove their culinary skills by tackling the kitchen! Each former player competing is sponsored by a local restaurant or food truck to create the menu for the evenings event and are judged by the guests attending the event. This should be a ticketed event along with non-perishable items donated. Food pantries or homeless shelters are the best fit as a charity partner. I. USE AND APPLY THE EVENT BASICS ON PAGE 3 & 4

13 FISHING/CANOEING These water competitions will differ by your chapters region. Coastal regions and regions with lakes are best to host a fishing tournament while other regions may lend themselves to the ability of canoe races. If you are working with an outside company like a fishing tour operation or canoe company, the former player will sign waivers which transfers the liability. The fundraising for these events are best handled with a presenting sponsor and the former player obtaining pledges. Conservations with youth focused programs would be ideal as a charity partner. I. 14 9 & DINE- GOLF & DINNER This event can be used as an intimate fundraiser or a thank you to your key sponsors. I. USE AND APPLY THE EVENT BASICS ON PAGE 3 & 4 II. SPECIFICS TO A TASTINGS EVENT WOULD BE: a. Present this event in correlation with your Chapter Super Bowl of Golf Event b. Work with the golf course that you host your Super Bowl of Golf event to have the round of golf and dinner donated i. If the course is unable to donate, work the cost into your sponsorship levels for the Super Bowl of Golf event

15 NFL ALUMNI CHARITY GOLF CLASSIC NFL Alumni Chapters host an Annual NFL Alumni Charity Golf Classic to raise funds for their chapter and a children s charity of their choice. The winning team from a NFL Alumni Charity Golf Classic wins a bid to the Super Bowl of Golf. Format: Format is a Five-some scramble. All USGA rules are in effect. The scoring system is based on a team handicap derived by taking the lowest individual handicap in the Five-some and multiplying that by 35 percent. Scoring rules penalize teams for having more than one A player (0-8 Handicap) and/or more than two B players (6-16 Handicap). SBOG: The principal innovation of the NFL Alumni Foundation Golf Tour is the Super Bowl of Golf, or SBOG. Each year, all winning teams from the tournament series receive all-expense paid invitations to the championship playoff, held at a warm-weather resort the following spring. The SBOG dovetails with the NFL Alumni s Annual Meeting and alternates each year between an East and West coast site. View NFLA s Golf Tournament Manual for complete information
