3 SKI MOUNTAINEERING OVERVIEW Ski mountaineering is a unique sport, inspired by love for the mountains and the natural environment, for fitness and healthy lifestyle, counting on millions of practitioners worldwide. Ski mountaineering has become more and more attractive to cool people: you can stay fit, ski off-piste, do something different from everyone else, away from the crowd. Thanks to its fast growth and characteristics, ski mountaineering will be an official sport in the Lausanne 2020 Youth Olympic Games. The Olympic Committee is now monitoring the Ski mountaineering with the objective to include it among the Winter Olympic Games disciplines in the near future (probably Beijing 2022). The International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF) was provisionally recognised by the IOC in April 2014 and after 2 years under observation it was awarded full Olympic recognition in August 2016.

5 SKI MOUNTAINEERING ISMF WORLD CUP International competitions are sanctioned by the International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF). ISMF organizes World Cup competitions in the disciplines Individual, Vertical, Sprint. In the coming season 5 events (weekends/locations) are planned, for 10 competitions days, from December to April. These attractive racing formats are attended by the best specialist in the World, constantly growing in popularity. In each race the categories Senior Men and Women, Espoir (U23) Men and Women and Junior (U20) Men and Women compete on the same or similar tracks.

6 SKI MOUNTAINEERING DISCIPLINES DESCRIPTION INDIVIDUAL A spectacular event that takes the athletes to the mountain tops, and must include at least 3 ascents and descents. The race start is a mass start of all the athletes. A section on foot is planned, with the skis carried on the rucksack. Races normally last to 2 hours and cover a total high gain of up to 1900m. VERTICAL An uphill only event on well packed snow with skins under the skis. It should not exceed a height of more than 700m. For the best athletes, the racing effort is about minutes SPRINT A mini Individual race, combining the essential ski mountaineering features with an ascent on skins, part of the ascent on foot and then a single descent from the top. The first round is an individual qualification with athletes starting one after the other. After the qualifying round athletes face each other in heats of 6. Race time is approximately 2 hours, with around 3 minutes for completing the total course.

8 SKI MOUNTAINEERING ON TV Infront has an agreement with ISFM about the fully exclusive Worldwide Multimedia Rights. Infront is producing and distributing post event highlights on each World Cup event and World Championships. The highlights show spectacular images of the races with dedicated athletes interviews and extra content. Thanks to Infront portfolio of TV partners, several broadcasters have shown interest for the post event highlights. Mainstream national TV broadcasters such as ORF (Austria), ARD (Germany), RaiSport (Italy) did already covered the WC season events consistently with the highlight format. Eurosport News, the sport news channel reporting in 57 countries in Europe, Asia and Australia, Africa and Middle-East, reported on races in their news bulletins. In several countries around the world, from China to Canada, the events benefit of the coverage of main TV channels and related websites.

9 SKI MOUNTAINEERING SOCIAL MEDIA The International Ski Mountaineering Federation is active on social media and has a website ( that provides official information and there is another website ( dedicated to the World Cup results, communication and informations. Dedicated Facebook, Twitter, Instagram pages, recording fast growing (around 50% a year) fans/follower base Also athletes are an important vehicles to communicate the brand of ISMF World cup, the most influent for sure is Kilian Jornet Burgada with followers on Facebook and on Instagram. ISMF, together with Infront, is working on leveraging all the digital and social platforms starting from season 2017/18. A new website will be implemented together with investment on ISMF social media platforms
