INTRODUCTION Rally Sprint Viekšniai 2017 More than fifty crews expected on August in Viekšniai, where will be held the traditional Rally Sprint race "Viekšniai It will be 4th event of 2017 Lithuanian Rally Sprint Championship and the 5th event of 2017 Latvian Rally Sprint Championship, therefore almost all the most capable two-state rally sprint crews should start in this race. The Rally is organized by Mažeikiai Auto Sports club. On Friday, August 18th, the crews after Scrutineering will be able to recognise with part of the track and test their strength in a 5 km length Test stage ("Shakedown"). On Saturday, crews will complete the reconnaissance, and from 13 hours will start the race. Crews on Saturday, August 19, will have to overcome a total of 10 special stages. It is planned that sportsmen five stages will overcome twice, for a total SS distance 57 km and the total distance of Rally Sprint - almost 180 km. The gravel roads of Mažeikiai district should be enjoyed by sportsmen. Most of the tracks will be familiar to the racers, but always is possible to find something new in this region. Therefore, this year's Rally Sprint 10 special stages should be interesting. The good words about the tracks after the competition are usually not only from our sportsmen, but also from the guests who with pleasure come to Viekšniai, because this event can be called as a good training - a test of mutual understanding between the technician and the crew. We hope that after this year's race the participants will be satisfied with the tracks. The competition will be divided into two sections: the crews will have to overcome the 3.3 km and 4.2 km speed stages twice and the 9.1 km length 5th speed stage before the break. After the Service break the crews will must overcome the same 9,1 km stage and two stages of 8.7 km and 3.2 km, which will be driven twice. The race in Tirkšliai and Viekšniai districts will end about 18 hours and 30 minutes, when crews will return to Viekšniai again. The Rally Sprint in August of 2016 was very interesting in Viekšniai: the crew of Vytautas Švedas and Žilvinas Sakalauskas arrived here, Renārs Francis defended Latvia's honor by driving Ford Escort Cosworth WRC, and Russian crew Dmitry Feofanov ("Mitsubishi Lancer") tried to be the third prizewinner since the start of the race. V.Švedas was a long-time leader in the overall rally, but due to technical problems his crew did not finish the race. The failure of one of the most powerful Lithuanian racers was used by R. Francis, who became the winner of Because powerful foreign sportsmen did not compete in Rally Sprint Championship standings, the crew of Mindaugas Kaminskas and Mindaugas Bagdonavičius (Honda Civic) was the leader in the Lithuanian championship 2WD classification. The organizer of the event, Mazeikiai ASK head Vitalijus Plastininas and his son Vytenis (Mitsubishi Lancer) won the first place in the "Open" classification of Lithuanian Rally Sprint Championship. Special sticker issued by the Organizer must be stick on the service vehicle windscreen It is forbidden to wash the parts and machineries of cars that are using technical oils (engines, gear boxes and similar) in Service park In the place of servicing in the Service Park the waterproof fabric (minimum 4x4 m) must be laid under the rally car. In the refueling zone a container must be laid under the place of the neck for tank filling (to collect spilled fuel). Using pumps for refueling, the ends of the tube must be equipped safety tapes or valves. V. 7 For Latvian RSC participants (except Klasika ) and participants of both Championships: Till : EUR, after : EUR; Latvian RSC Klasika participants entry fee : Till : EUR, after : EUR. 5.3 Rally cars of every crew, using E 85 fuel bioethanol, must be marked by special stickers (min. measurements: 160x120 mm), with note E 85 must be written on blue background. Height of the letter and the digits is: 80 mm, symbol thickness: 14 mm. Stickers must be stuck on car bodywork, above rear wheel arches no further than 200 mm from top of the arch on both sides of the car. 5.4 During reconnaissance (including Shakedown) participants may use only certified, driving on public roads during the summer season tires, which are in conformity with Lithuanian Road Traffic law. During rally allowed use only racing tires intended for gravel roads. All the participants are allowed to change tires only in the Service park. 5.5 Refueling is allowed only in Refuel zones. VI. RECONNAISSANCE 7.1 Reconnaissance is mandatory for every crew. Only crews, participating in Shakedown, may recognize with this stage. 7.2 Any violations of the crews during reconnaissance will be captured by GPS ( Global Positioning System ) devices and the Organizer authorized officials. 7.3 All special stages are allowed to be driven no more than 2 times. Because SS1 and SS3, SS2 and SS4, SS5 and SS6, SS7 and SS9, SS8 and SS10 are identical, all mentioned stages shall be counted as one stage. 7.4 The crews must drive in such a way that no danger or inconvenience is caused to the people residing close to the Rally course during the reconnaissance. Driving in the opposite direction is strictly prohibited in the special stages. Please note: Speed limit in Lithuanian Republic on unpaved roads in non-residential areas is 70 km/h. GPS ( Global Positioning System ) devices and police will check the speed during the reconnaissance. The speed may be reduced by respective road signs, marked in the Road Book. Use of antiradars and radar detectors is prohibited. 7.5 During reconnaissance the crews must comply with Supplementary Regulations, Lithuanian Rally rules, LRSC Regulations and its annexes and Lithuanian Road traffic law requirements. 7.6 Reconnaissance vehicles. Reconnaissance may be performed only on recce vehicles, registered by the Organizer. Recce vehicles must meet the requirements of 2017 Lithuanian Rally Rules art

TEST STAGE (SHAKEDOWN) 9.1 Test stage (Shakedown) will be carried out (Friday) from 18:30 till 21:00. Distance of the stage 5,00 km, road cover gravel. Test Stage (Shakedown) allowed to be driven 2 times during recconaissance and 4 times in racing mode for each crew. 9.2 All drivers who wants to take part in the Test Stage, must it indicate in the electronic Entry Form, which must reach the Organizer no later than (Friday) 17: Test Stage entry fee is 100 Eur, if paid till (Friday) 17:00. After this time payment will be reduced to 150 Eur. 9.4 Test Stage will not be carried out and full Test stage payment will be refunded, if the number of participants will be less ten. In all other cases, except force majeure, Test Stage payment will not be refunded. 9.5 The cars, participating in the Test stage must be conducted scrutineering. Competition numbers and rally advertising stickers issued by the Organizer must be sticked on the cars. X. START PROCEDURE IN SPECIAL STAGES 10.1 In all Special Stages start will be executed by means of the electronic timing equipment. When 30 seconds are remaining to start, the crew is handed in the timecard. The electronic clock shows hours, minutes and seconds. When 5 seconds are remaining to start, five red lights will light up every second from one to five. Then these five lights are extinguished, and the crew must start. In case when the crew start is correct, lights green and continues to light for 20 seconds. In case of premature start - display shows "FALSE" and shows the time, the crew brought forward the belonging start. In case if electronic equipment is not installed or it is not functioning, the start procedure shall be carried out following the requirements of art of 2017 Lithuanian Rally rules.

INFORMATION FOR MEDIA The decision on the accreditation is carried by the Organizer. Accreditation in the rally is free. Photographers and cameramen must work with Organizer issued PRESS vests, and for which must pay 20 Euro deposit. 13 Prohibited roads zones All the first and second drivers intending or only having intention to take part in Lithuanian or Latvian rally sprint championships, or only in Rally sprint Viekšniai 2017" shall be strictly prohibited entering to the roads marked ir the Prohibited Entry Zones map from (Wednesday) 15:00 till: A, B, D (Friday) 16:00, C (Saturday) 08:00. Named persons, willing to move/cross the roads marked as prohibited for entry, must communicate their intentions in writing in advance to the LSAF and the Organizer and obtain permission from Organizer.
