OSU s games against Sam Houston State and Southern were considered the first- and second-rounds of the tournament. The losers of the games on Friday will play at 2 p.m. on Saturday. That game will not be televised. Oklahoma State will return to Stillwater on Sunday afternoon.

2 Game Rewind Highlights Mario Boggan extended his consecutive 20-point games streak to four with 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting. Both of his misses were from beyond the three-point arc. Three other Cowboys scored in double figures. JamesOn Curry had 14 points, while Obi Muonelo and Byron Eaton each scored 10. It was Eaton s first double-figure scoring game of the season and Muonelo s fifth. OSU shot just 45.6 percent from the floor, including a dismal 2-of-13 (15.4 percent) from long range. Eaton s trey with 16 minutes remaining in the game extended the Cowboys streak of consecutive games with a three pointer to 188. OSU had a season-low 11 turnovers while forcing 19. The Pokes also had 10 steals, reaching double figures in that category for the fifth-straight game. Whew! Oklahoma State played its fourth game in seven days Tuesday night. The streak began on Nov. 15 with Northwestern State and concluded with Southern. However, it is not the most hectic schedule in recent years. To begin the season, the Cowboys played five games in six days. Oklahoma State hosted Cincinnati in the season opener on Nov. 16, and then hosted Austin Peay the following day before traveling to Las Vegas, Nev., to compete in the Las Vegas Tournament. On Nov. 19, OSU faced Providence, followed by Siena College on Nov. 20. The Cowboys won the Las Vegas Tournament title by defeating TCU on Nov. 21. About Auburn Auburn is 4-0 this season and coming off a win over Miles College in Auburn Tuesday night. The Tigers are led by a trio of players averaging double figures in scoring. Junior Frank Tolbert is averaging 15.3 points per game to lead the team. Sophomore Rasheem Barrett is second on the squad with 14.5 points per contest, and sophomore Korvotney Barber is averaging 13.5 points and leads the team with 10.8 rebounds per game. Auburn is coached by Jeff Lebo, in his third year as head man for the Tigers. He has a record at Auburn. He is in his ninth season overall as a head coach, with stints at Tennessee Tech and Tennessee-Chattanooga. Oklahoma State is 0-2 all-time against Auburn. The Tigers won the first meeting on Dec. 10, 1977, with a victory at the Marshall Tournament in Huntington, W.Va. The second meeting came on March 13, 1999, when Auburn handed OSU an loss in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in Indianapolis, Ind. The Tigers were ranked No. 4 nationally at the time. OSU will go from playing Auburn in front of one of the largest crowds in school history (32,758 in the RCA Dome in Indianapolis) to one of the smallest (capacity at the South Padre Island Convention Centre is 1,500). 3 Looking Ahead Oklahoma State will play either Wisconsin or Missouri State on Saturday in the final round of the South Padre Invitational. OSU is 4-0 all-time against Missouri State. The last meeting between those two schools occurred on Jan. 19, 1994, when the Cowboys handed the Bears a loss on their home court. Oklahoma State is 1-0 all-time against Wisconsin. The only meeting between those two school was on Dec. 29, 1983, in the Merrill Lynch Classic in Dayton, Ohio. OSU won that game Men of Steal Oklahoma State has 61 steals in five games this season, an average of 12.2 per game. That average leads the Big 12 Conference. The Cowboys also have the most in a game by a league team this year with 17 vs. Texas Southern. OSU reached double figures in steals for the fifth-consecutive game against Southern. The last time OSU had at least 10 steals in fivestraight games was during the season when the Cowboys had at least 10 steals in eight-consecutive contests from Dec. 8 until Jan. 11 of that season. Five different Cowboys are ranked in the league s top 15 for steals. Marcus Dove and Terrel Harris are tied for sixth in the league, averaging 2.6 thefts per game. Obi Muonelo is tied for eighth, averaging 2.4 steals per game. Byron Eaton is 11th, averaging 2.2 steals per contest and JamesOn Curry is tied for 15th at 1.6 per game. Curry Moving up the Charts Cowboy junior JamesOn Curry is listed on several of the Cowboy career charts despite having played just over two seasons in an OSU uniform. Curry became the 16th player in school history to record 250 or more assists with his three vs. Southern on Tuesday night. He currently has 252 assists. Curry needs 12 assists to move past Eddie Hannon and into the top 15. He needs just five attempts from beyond the three-point arc to move into the top-10 individually in school history. He currently has 305. Glendon Alexander sits in 10th place with 309. Curry is averaging 1.7 treys per game in his career, ranking him seventh in that category. 4 Super Mario Mario Boggan was 8-of-10 from the field Tuesday night, upping his career shooting to 59.7 percent. That average would rank him as the most prolific shooter in school history, given enough attempts. Boggan matched a career high with 27 points against Texas Southern. He set that total against Arkansas State last season. He is currently third in the Big 12 Conference in scoring, averaging 21.6 points. It is just the seventh time in school history that the same player led the team in both categories. The last time that occurred was during the season. That year, Mark Tucker shot 54 percent from the floor and 91.2 percent from the charity stripe. Boggan also led the Big 12 Conference in both categories for conferencegames only, the first player in league history to do so. Muonelo Making Impact Freshman Obi Muonelo scored 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including 4- of-6 from beyond the arc, in his collegiate debut against Florida Atlantic. Muonelo is just the fifth player in the last 30 seasons to have scored at least 15 points in his collegiate debut. He is just the second player in that same timeframe that has reached double figures in scoring in each of his first five games. Only Byron Houston (10 points, 17, 10, 10 and 11 in 1988) reached double figures in the first five games of his freshman season. He reached double figures in his first six games (scored 21 in game six). Muonelo is becoming an all-around player. He led the team in both rebounding (8) and steals (6) vs. Texas Southern. He ranks third on the team in steals (third with 12), points (third with 63), assists (third with 15) and rebounds (third with 26). Obi is also third on the team in free-throw shooting at 77.8 percent. One area he needs to work on is his shooting. He is currently shooting just 35.3 percent from the floor, including 26.1 percent from long range. Sutton the First While he is actually the second Sutton to lead the Cowboy Basketball program, he s the first head coach in school history to win his first five games as head coach. Coach Eddie Sutton won his first-four games before losing his fifth upon his return to OSU in John Griffith won four before losing his fifth as head coach in Jim Killingsworth won his first four games as head coach of the Cowboys before losing his fifth in Ironically, that loss came at the hands of Auburn, OSU s next opponent. Boggan, Curry Named Preseason All-Big 12 Senior Mario Boggan and junior JamesOn Curry were both named preseason All-Big 12 honorable mention by the league coaches. Both players were named All-Big 12 honorable mention following the conclusion of last season as well. Curry Among Wooden Award Candidates Junior JamesOn Curry was one of 50 players listed on the preseason list of candidates for the Wooden Award. He is one of just eight players on the list that were also considered for last year s Award. Only six other players from the Big 12 Conference were listed. Cowboys Sign Four During Early Signing Period Oklahoma State signed four high school seniors to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period. Martavius Adams, a 6-9, 235-pound post player from Irwinton, Ga., is ranked as the No. 54 player nationally by Bob Gibbons. He averaged 22 points, 14 rebounds and five blocked shots per game as a junior. J a m e s Anderson, a 6-6, 190-pound wing player from Junction City, Ark., is considered the 24th-best high school player in the country according to Rivals.com. He is also the No. 3 off-guard in the nation. Nick Sidorakis, a 6-5, 180-pound shooting guard from Jenks, Okla., averaged 14.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists as a junior. Ibrahima Thomas, a 6-11, 225-pound center from Stoneridge Prep in Simi Valley, Calif., is considered one of the top-20 players in California and is ranked as the No. 81 player in the county by Clark Francis. Head Coach Sean Sutton Sean Sutton is 5-0 early in his career as the head coach at Oklahoma State, but has been very successful as part of the Cowboy Basketball program. OSU s overall record in the 16 seasons that Coach Sutton has been affiliated with the program is an impressive , good for a 71.3 winning percentage. Oklahoma State was in two years with Sutton as the starting point guard in the early 90s and made back-to-back appearances in the Sweet 16. Sutton returned to OSU after a one-year stint as an assistant coach at Ol Miss in Over the next six seasons with Sutton as an assistant, the Cowboys went and advanced to the Final Four in 1995, OSU s first appearance at the national semifinals in over 40 years. Sutton was promoted to associate head coach prior to the season. During the next four years, Oklahoma State was and continued a string of what would be eight-straight NCAA Tournament appearances. On May 26, 2004, Sutton was named head coach designate, assigning him as the next head coach upon his father s retirement.
