LAST TIME OUT Senior point guard Anna Kim poured in 25 points to lead all scorers and the Long Beach State women's basketball team drained 14 three-pointers to edge Cal Poly, 83-80, Saturday at the Walter Pyramid. The Beach's offensive performance etched the squad into the Long Beach State record books as the 49ers' 14 made three-pointers marked the second-most treys in a single game. 's made three-point total comes second to last year's team which sunk 20 threes at Cal State Fullerton on Jan. 9, got off to a hot start as the Beach connected on nine consecutive threes on as many attempts in the first 15 minutes of action. Their first missed trey did not come until the 3:23 mark in the second quarter. The 49ers finished the game shooting 56 percent (14-for-25) from long distance.

3 The 49ers jumped out in front early with back-to-back threes from Madison Montgomery and took an 8-0 lead on the Mustangs. Long Beach State led the entire game and extended its lead to as many as 20 (59-39), before Cal Poly began to chip away. The Mustangs had a solid fourth quarter that saw them cut the Beach's lead from 17 (74-57) down to three (83-80), before Long Beach State closed the door on them. Kim shot 70 percent from the field after connecting on 7-of-10 attempts and was 4-for-5 from three-point range and 7-for-8 from the line as she set the tone for the Long Beach State offense. While the Beach demonstrated their hot-shooting, the Mustangs countered as they picked things up in the second half scoring 32 points in the fourth quarter alone en route to outscoring in the final 20 minutes of action. Despite the Mustangs' second half surge, the Beach had built a big enough lead from the first half and never surrendered it.
