Against Arizona and Washington State, Wiltjer scored 20 points in the fi rst half of both games. Most recently against UA, Wiltjer knocked down just two threes, but was 8-for-12 from the fi eld with a dizzying array of post moves and mid-range buckets. in the fi rst 10:00 of the Washington State game, he also poured in 20 points, including four three-pointers. He had 20 of the fi rst 27 Gonzaga points in the game and had GU out to a lead to open the game. During the span, Wiltjer made 8-of-11 from the fi eld and 4-of-5 from downtown. TWO-MAN WRECKING CREW Kyle Wiltjer and Domantas Sabonis combined for 51 points against Arizona on Dec. 5, the highest teammate total for GU since Wiltjer (45) and Gary Bell Jr. (12) combined for 57 at Pacifi c. Against Arizona, Wiltjer poured in 33 and Sabonis added 18, while the pair had GU s fi rst 26 points (Wiltjer 16, Sabonis 10) of the game. Against UCLA, the duo had a combined 38 of Gonzaga s 66 points. MORE KYLE WILTJER SCORING NOTES - Scored in double fi gures in all 10 games - Scored 20-plus fi ve times this season (30-plus once) - Scored 33 against Arizona, second-highest total of career (45 at Pacifi c 2/19/15) - Only had one game this season with less than 16 points (12 vs. Mount St. Mary s 11/21/15) - Dating back to last season, Wiltjer has double fi gures in 11 straight games and 16 of the last 17 DOMANTAS SABONIS: REBOUNDING MACHINE After leading the team in rebounding as a freshman last season at 7.1 per game, forward Domantas Sabonis is averaging a team-best 10.3 rebounds per game this season. He s already had three games with at least 14 rebounds, including a career-high 16 against then-19thranked Arizona on Dec. 5. Sabonis has four double-doubles this season and has missed a double-double by one point or one rebound on three other occasions. REBOUNDING AND DEFENSE RANKS Rebounding Defensive per game - 8th (31.20) Rebound margin - 24th (+9.2) Total per game - 22nd (43.00) Defense Scoring defense - 22nd (61.1) FG pct. defense - 21st (37.2) 3FG pct. defense - 3rd (23.4) BACK-TO-BACK WCC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS Earlier this season, Kyle Wiltjer was named WCC Co-Player of the Week for averaging 19.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game while the Zags went 2-1 at the Battle 4 Atlantis Wiltjer shot. 500 (21-42) for the week and scored 20-plus for the second time this season. That came one week after sophomore forward Domantas Sabonis earned the same honor averaging 20.5 points and 10.5 rebounds while making 19- of-23 fi eld goals. In a win over Northern Arizona, Sabonis scored a career-high 26 points on 12-of-13 shooting, while pulling down seven rebounds (four off ensive) and adding one block. JACK OF ALL TRADES Senior Kyle Dranginis will be relied upon for leadership and his ability to fi ll up the stat sheet, and no example was more telling than his Battle 4 Atlantis line. In three games in the Bahamas, Dranginis averaged a team-best 8.0 rebounds and a team-best 4.0 assists to go along with 6.2 points per game and 1.0 steals per game. He also had one of the biggest buckets of the tournament for Gonzaga when he tipped in a miss inside the last minute against UConn to give Gonzaga a three-point lead. Coming off the bench in 14-15, the Nampa, Idaho, native was third in the team in blocks (15), fourth in steals (23), fi fth in assists (63) and sixth in rebounding (2.6/game). 1,000 POINT CLUB FOR KARNOWSKI In Gonzaga s win over Washington to open the Battle 4 Atlantis, senior center Przemek Karnowski became the 39th player in program history to top 1,000 points for his career. The big man also stands just 19 rebounds shy of becoming the 14th player in GU history with at least 600 rebounds. The combination of 1,000 points and 600 rebounds is even more elite as only eight players in school history have accomplished that feat. ZAGS TO TRAVEL FAR AND WIDE In its fi rst month of the season, Gonzaga made the 5,900-mile (one way) trip to Okinawa, Japan, to take on Pitt at the Armed Forces Classic on November 13. After returning home on Nov. 14, the Zags jumped back on the plane on Nov. 22 and traveled to Paradise Island, Bahamas, for the Battle for Atlantis. That trek amounted to nearly 2,700 miles one way. All-told, between the two roundtrips, the Zags traveled more than 17,000 miles in the season s fi rst three weeks. Now Gonzaga won t leave the state of Washington until Dec. 31. SABONIS DOMINATES NORTHERN ARIZONA Despite playing only 18 minutes in GU s season opener vs. the Lumberjacks, Domantas Sabonis racked up an incredibly efficient 26 points on 12-for-13 shooting from the fi eld. He added seven rebounds, including four on the off ensive end. Sabonis led the Zags last season in fi eld goal percentage at.668 and is off to an even better start after the fi rst fi ve games, shooting
