The Mean Green had a slow start and fell behind by 15 points in the third quarter. But the team used its defensive identity to crawl back in and take a 3-point lead early the fourth quarter. However, 1-for-9 shooting down the stretch by the Mean Green doomed them. UNT s 6-2 start is its best eight-game start since the season. That season the Mean Green started the year 7-2 before going on a four game losing streak right before conference play. North Texas' Top Storylines, Streaks & Trends TERRIELL BRADLEY - North Texas preseason all-conference guard Terriell Bradley has scored 20+ points in four of the Mean Green s last five games. - Over the last five games, Bradley has averaged 19.6 points per game and has averaged six rebounds per game as well. - Bradley scored a career-high 23 points versus Tulsa on Dec. 2 - Bradley is shooting 90 percent at the free throw line over the last five games DEFENSIVE IDENTITY -North Texas is only giving up 48.4 points per game, which is the second-best in the country. - Opponents are shooting 32.4 percent against the Mean Green, which is eighthbest in the country. UNT 69, La Salle 63 (12/16/15) La Salle EXPLORERS (4-5, 0-0 A-10) LAST GAME RECAP THE GOOD On the road, the Mean Green outscored Indiana in the second half and contained the Hoosiers leading scorer to only eight points. THE OK North Texas came back from 15 points down with eight minutes left in the third quarter to take the lead with nine minutes left in the fourth quarter. THE BAD UNT gave up 41 points in the first half. THE UGLY The Mean Green allowed Indiana to shoot 63 percent on 7-of-11 shooting in the first period. HOME SWEET HOME The Mean Green have played five of their first eight games of the year at home and will play seven of their 12 non-conference games there too. North Texas plays a total of 16 home games this year. Both are the most under third-year head coach Jalie Mitchell. Last year North Texas played just four home non-conference games and 13 total.

2 TRENA BENA Over the last three games, Mean Green freshman point guard Trena Mims is second on the team in scoring. Mims is averaging 9.3 points per game while shooting 50 percent from the field. She has also led the team in assists, averaging 3 per game, with a career-high 4 assists in each of their last two games. PRESEASON ALL-CONFERENCE Redshirt junior Terriell Bradley was voted by the C-USA coaches to the eight-player preseason all-conference team. She is the first North Texas women s basketball player to earn a preseason all-conference nod since 2011 when the Mean Green played in the Sun Belt. Bradley is averaging 17.4 point per game through the first eight games of the year. She averaged 13 a year ago. Bradley has four 20 plus scoring outings this season, which is one more than she had all of last season. OH CAY! Redshirt junior post Micayla Buckner had her first career double-double last Wednesday versus SMU when she scored 10 points and had 11 rebounds. Buckner came out of her shell in the Mean Green s win over Texas A&M International. Buckner finished with a career-high 20 points and was one rebound away from a double-double. She also tied a then careerhigh with three blocks in the game. She has since set a new career-high in blocks with four. Buckner was 9-of-11 from the field in the game against TAMIU and stayed out of foul trouble, which has hindered her in the past. STEALS North Texas is averaging just under 10 steals per game through the first eight games. That s 3 more steals per game than they averaged last season. The Mean Green finished the season with 232 steals. They have 74 through the first eight games of this season. Freshman Lauren Holmes has recorded at least one steal in all eight games this season and leads the team with 19. Kelsey Criner led the team last year in steals with 49. Holmes is on pace to finish with 67 steals during the regular season. 74 steals would tie her for the 10th most in a single season in program history. 92 steals is the program record. 29 TURNOVERS UNT forced 29 turnovers against Coastal Carolina on Nov. 23rd. It is the most turnovers the Mean Green have forced since Nov. 24, 2012 when they forced 31 turnovers against St. Bonaventure in a 2OT win. Last season versus Indiana, North Texas forced 28 turnovers. RECORD-SETTING DEBUT Freshman Lauren Holmes scored 20 points and had 12 rebounds in her college debut in the Mean Green s season-opener on Nov. 10. It s the most points scored in school history by a true freshman in their debut. It s also the most points scored in a Mean Green debut since Jill Medlock (a then junior transfer from Arkansas-Fort Smith) scored 20 points against Indiana State on Nov. 22, Holmes is also the first true freshman to record a double-double in program history since Alexis Hyder in NEW ADDITION In May, the Mean Green added veteran WNBA coach Carlos Knox to their coaching staff. Knox won a WNBA Championship with the Indiana Fever in POINTS Terriell Bradley scored her 500th career point at UNT in the second quarter versus Tulsa on Dec. 2. She enters Saturday s game with 537 career points. 700 POINTS When you include her freshman season at KU, Terriell Bradley scored her 700th career point in the second quarter versus Tulsa on Dec. 2. HOME WINNING STREAK On Saturday, North Texas will be looking to win its third consecutive home game. The Mean Green haven t won three straight home games since February of 2014, making it the longest home winning streak under Jalie Mitchell if UNT wins. 2 CLIMBING THE LADDER After last Wednesday s win over SMU, head coach Jalie Mitchell moved into a tie for fifthplace for all-time wins in program history. Deja Terrell s mother, Kiana Taylor-Terrell is one of the greatest UTEP women s basketball players in program history. When she graduated in 1998 she was second in program history in scoring (1,134) and second in rebounds (676). Deja Terrell was also a two-time all-district volleyball player at Life Oak Cliff High School in Dallas. FRESHMEN WITH A BIGGER ROLE North Texas freshmen Lauren Holmes and Trena Mims have scored this season 82 and 64 points, respectively. Last season, Adrianna Henderson led all Mean Green freshmen in scoring at the end of the year with 67 total points. Holmes, Mims and fellow freshman Deja Terrell have already combined to outscore last season s four freshmen season total. Holmes, Mims and Terrell have a combined 174 points. FORGED BY FAYETTEVILLE North Texas freshman Lauren Holmes was named the 2017 Arkansas Prep Female Athlete of the Year after she graduated from Fayetteville High School. A three-sport athlete, Holmes graduated from FHS with nine state titles in the three sports combined. She won two basketball championships, two team track and field championships and one volleyball championship. She also won four individual track and field championships. She accomplished all of it in just three years. In addition to her on the field success, Holmes graduated high school with a 3.9 G.P.A. and worked two separate jobs all at the same time.

It hasn t affected her much on the court with exception of one game in 2016 when she could barely walk the night before. Despite struggling to walk, Bradley went on to score 17 points in the game at Arizona and led the team to the road victory. NEW POSITION In August, the Mean Green added their firstever full-time strength and conditioning coach in Rick Lefebvre who spent the last five seasons as LSU s men s basketball strength and conditioning coach. NEW PGs The point guard position is very important to head coach Jalie Mitchell. She begins the season with two new point guards in freshman Trena Mims and JC transfer Brittany Smith. Last year s point guards, Kelsey Criner graduated and nowsophomore Adrianna Henderson has moved to off the ball guard but can take the ball up the court to initiate the offense. BRITT-NASTY North Texas has added South Plains College transfer point guard Brittany Smith to their roster. Smith was the 2017 Western Junior College Conference Defensive Player of the Year and WJCC First-Team All-Conference. She made the Mean Green s first points of the season with a 3-pointer. OVERTIME WARRIORS The Mean Green are riding a four-game overtime winning streak. All four of those overtime wins came last season in conference games away from the Super Pit. DO NOT use the terms North Texas State, or Eagles, to describe our team.

4 year history prior to last year. North Texas is all-time in overtime games. Four of those 10 wins came last year. EARLY SIGNEES North Texas signed two Texas products in the early signing period. The Mean Green have added Jasmyne Robinson of Arlington Bowie High School and Charlene Shepherd of Shoemaker High School in Killeen, Texas. Robinson is a 5-foot-8 guard who is a tremendous shooter. She recently scored her 1,000th career point and was named as the district MVP her sophomore season. Shepherd is a forward who can stretch the court as a shooter. She s been named alldistrict in both basketball and volleyball. ESTABLISHED REBOUNDER Sophomore Jada Poland has 36 rebounds through five games (4.5 per game) this season. Last season, she didn t have 20 rebounds until the 22nd game of the year, which was on February 9th. Poland had a season-high eight rebounds versus K-State on Nov. 19. AD s NEW POSITION Sophomore Adrianna Henderson has moved from point guard to guard in hope of freeing her up as a scorer. Henderson scored over 1,200 points in high school and averaged over 20 points per game. As a freshman at UNT, Henderson saw limited playing time early but as the season progressed so did her playing time. Henderson scored a season-high nine points versus Detroit Mercy on Nov. 24. Her careerhigh is 10, which she accomplished versus Iona last season. OFFENSIVE FIRE North Texas scored 86 points versus MACU, which is the most points UNT has scored in a non-overtime game since Dec. 17, 2013 when they scored 93 in a win at Denver. They scored 97 in a 3OT loss at Rice on Jan. 10, QUICK START North Texas scored 28 points in the first quarter of their season-opener versus MACU. It s the most points the Mean Green have scored in a first quarter ever. NCAA women s basketball switched to quarters in the season, which was also Mitchell s first season as the Mean Green head coach. SEASON-ENDING INJURIES This summer North Texas lost forward Madison Townley to a season-ending shoulder injury, guard Tyara Warren and posts Tosin Mabodu and Hannah Hopkins to season-ending knee injuries. Both Mabodu and Warren s injuries are also career ending. Warren was a starter last season who scored over 14 points six times and was key defender. Mabodu started 11 games last season. Townley was expected to compete for the starting forward position after she made two starts last season as a freshman. FIVE GAME WINNING STREAK Last season North Texas won five consecutive games from Feb. 4 to Feb. 18. It was the longest winning streak in program-history since The Mean Green haven t won six games in a row since During the five game winning streak, North Texas won three consecutive road games, which is the longest road winning streak since GOALS Every season North Texas has the goals of winning 20+ games and winning a conference championship. North Texas hasn t won 20 games in a season since when they won 21 games. #P.R.I.D.E. North Texas women s basketball has the program acronym of P.R.I.D.E. It was created by Jalie Mitchell to emphasis the characteristics that make a strong studentathlete at the University of North Texas. P assion Resilience I nvestment Discipline Excellence 1 THROUGH 4 Mean Green redshirt junior Terriell Bradley played the 1-4 positions last year and still does that this year. 4 GETTING IN SHAPE Redshirt junior post Micayla Buckner lost considerable weight this offseason and has made it a point of emphasis to run the court better, shoot the ball and be an allconference player. The 6-4 post began her campaign with a career-high 12 points on 6-8 shooting. Her previous high was 10 points, which she accomplished twice last season. She then scored 20 points versus Texas A&M International in UNT s second game of the year. She then recorded her first career doubledouble in their sixth game of the year. NOVEMBER TO REMEMBER North Texas won five games before the month of December for only the second time in program history since The most games the Mean Green have won before the month of January is 10, which they accomplished in when they started the season BLOCKS North Texas is averaging 4 blocks per game through the first eight games of the year. They ended last season averaging 2.1 blocks per game. Redshirt junior Micayla Buckner leads this year s team with 11 blocks on the season. She only had 13 all of last year. Furthermore, her 11 blocks are already more than half as many as Hannah Hopkins had last year who led the team with 16. Buckner had a career-best four blocks in the Mean Green s game against K-State. Freshmen Deja Terrell is second on the team with six blocks.. DOUBLE-DOUBLES With Terriell Bradley s double-double on Tuesday at Indiana, North Texas has had three different players record a doubledouble this season, which is how many they had all of last year. DOUBLE-DOUBLE COUNT LAUREN HOLMES: 20 pts, 12 rebs (11/10) MICAYLA, BUCKNER: 10 pts, 11 rebs (11/29) TERRIELL BRADLEY: 22 pts, 10 rebs (12/5)

5 20-20 Terriell Bradley scored 23 points on Dec. 2 versus Tulsa and 22 points on Dec. 5 versus Indiana. The 23-point performance was a career-best for Bradley. It s the second time this season she s had back-to-back 20+ point performances. It s the most points she had scored in consecutive games. The last Mean Green women s basketball player to score at least 20 points in three straight games was Loryn Goodwin in Goodwin scored 26 points versus FIU on Feb. 9, 2013, 28 points at ULM on Feb. 14, 2013 and then 20 points at Troy on Feb. 16, TURNOVER MARGIN North Texas is forcing an average of 21.5 turnovers per game while only turning it over 13.6 times per game. Their +7.9 turnover margin is the 11th best in the country. Through eight games last season, UNT only had a turnover margin of +1. Furthermore, they were averaging turnovers per game. GRACE GOODHART Junior Grace Goodhart started the first five games of the year for the Mean Green this season after only starting one game all of last year. Goodhart didn t start last Wednesday s game versus SMU due to an injury sustained in their game versus Detroit Mercy, but she still played 10 minutes versus the Mustangs.. On Nov. 23rd, Goodhart set a UNT careerbest by scoring 10 points. She also recorded five steals, had three assists and no turnovers in the Mean Green s win over Coastal Carolina. MIMS 4TH QUARTER In the fourth quarter versus Tulsa, freshman point guard Trena Mims scored 10 of her career-high 15 points on 4-4- shooting. Mims previous career-high was 11 points. The Muskogee, Oklahoma, native scored 14 of her 15 points vs. Tulsa in the second half. AD THE REBOUNDER Sophomore Adrianna Henderson had a career-high five rebounds versus Tulsa on Saturday. She is averaging 2.1 rebounds per game while only playing 13 minutes per game. Henderson has 17 rebounds on the year, which is one more than she had all of last season. 7 MIN SHUTOUT North Texas held Coastal Carolina scoreless for the first seven minutes and 40 seconds of their game on Nov. 23rd. FREE THROW ISSUES (pt. 1) North Texas shot just 56 percent from the free throw line in the first four games of the season (25-44). They flipped the script in their fifth game, when they went (79.2 percent) from the free throw line. However since then, the Mean Green have gone back to their struggling ways at the charity stripe only making 34-of-53 (64 percent) in their last three games combined. Freshman Lauren Holmes and redshirt junior Terriell Bradley are the only players on the team shooting above 75 percent at the free throw line. Junior Orianna Shillow has yet to attempt a free throw. FREE THROW ISSUES (pt 2) North Texas is being outscored at the free throw line this season UNT s opponents have scored 28 percent of their points at the free throw line. In comparison, North Texas has only scored 15 percent of its points at the free throw line. OWNING THE PAINT North Texas was outscored in the paint for the first time this season on Tuesday versus Indiana. The Hoosiers outscored the Mean Green in the paint. On the year, North Texas has outscored its first eight opponents in the paint by a combined score of They outscored Texas A&M International 44-2 in the paint in their second game of the year. 43 percent of UNT s points this season have come from inside the paint. Hustle stats are kept by strength and conditioning coach Rich Lefebvre. He also keeps track of the opponents hustle stats. Hustle points are awarded for deflections, charges drawn and 50/50 balls (loose-ball recovery). One point for each stat. Through eight games, UNT has yet to have a game with fewer hustle points than its opponent. Lauren Holmes leads the Mean Green with 36 hustle points. She has 12 more hustle points than Terriell Bradley who has the second-most. Through eight games, Holmes has drawn a total of eight charges.

6 Jalie Mitchell Head Coach Third Year (North Texas 02) Jalie Mitchell begins her third season as head coach of the North Texas women s basketball team. The Mean Green have seen improvement in each of her first two seasons. She enters her third season with the most road wins and second-most total wins in program history by a coach with two full seasons under their belt. In her first season in , North Texas more than doubled its win total from the previous season and beat the No. 17 ranked Oklahoma Sooners in Oklahoma for their first win of the year. It was the first time a Mean Green team had beaten a ranked opponent in program history. They proceeded to post a record and win five regular season conference games and reach the second-round of the C-USA Championship. In , the Mean Green improved on their overall record by a game and set program records and firsts. They won eight Conference-USA games, the most since joining the conference in the season. They defeated UTEP in El Paso for the first time in program history and they reached the quarterfinals of the C-USA Championship for the first time as well. North Texas three-game road winning streak in February of 2017 was its longest road winning streak since the season when Mitchell was a senior at North Texas and its overall five game winning streak in February was the longest since the season.. When hired, Mitchell described North Texas as her dream job. The 2002 Mean Green graduate is the program s greatest player and boasts numerous records as a four-year letter winner. She is the program s all-time leading scorer with 1,764 points and tops the list of career free throws made and attempted. In 2002, Mitchell was named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year when she averaged 19.4 points per game. She earned all-conference honors all four years at North Texas and was a part of the winningest senior class in program history, compiling a record -- including a 42-4 mark at the Super Pit -- and making back-to-back WNIT appearances in 2001 and Mitchell s No. 44 is one of two women s basketball numbers that has been retired by the Mean Green and her spectacular playing career culminated in 2007 when she was inducted into the North Texas Athletic Hall of Fame. Under Mitchell, North Texas has had a noticeable increase in offense and defense. In her first season, the Mean Green improved their field goal percentage by 7.23 percent the largest improvement in the country. It was also the sixth-highest shooting percentage in North Texas history. In total, the Mean Green averaged nearly 10 more points per game in than the year before. In , North Texas held conference opponents to 62.9 points per game and typically held the opposition s leading scorer to 10 or more points below their season average. Prior to becoming the Mean Green s head coach, Mitchell had two stints as an assistant in Denton. Most recently under then head coach Karen Aston for the campaign. In that campaign, the team went When Aston left the Mean Green to coach the University of Texas in 2012, Mitchell followed. In her three seasons at Texas, the team combined for a overall record. The Longhorns made the NCAA Tournament field the last two seasons, including a Sweet 16 appearance in their first since Mitchell began her collegiate coaching career in 2008 as an assistant coach with the Mean Green under Shanice Stephens. She spent two seasons at North Texas under Stephens before taking on the same position at UNC-Wilmington for the season. Mitchell helped the Seahawks finish with a 24-9 record and reach the second round of the WNIT, both program bests.
