This travel guide is intended to ensure a pleasant visit to Winston-Salem, NC and Winston- Salem State University. This booklet is a guide for making hotel reservations and dining arrangements, as well as providing contact information for WSSU staff members. Businesses that have entered into a partnership with WSSU Athletics are noted in bold letters. We encourage you to use their services when possible. Identify yourself as a visiting team to get the best available rates. Please consult individual coaches by sport to discuss additional needs your team may have during your visit to WSSU. These may include locker rooms locations, shower facilities, athletic training needs and practice times. 7 Athletic Training Information: For football contests, the Athletic Training Facility at Bowman-Gray Stadium will serve as the main athletic training center. However, for all additional sports (besides football) the training room is located in the lower level of the Whitaker Gymnasium. The training room will be accessible 30 minutes before practice sessions and will remain open for the duration of those sessions. The training room will open no later than one hour prior to all athletic contests. Available Supplies/Equipment: -Water; Cups; ice and ice bags -Other emergency supplies (if needed) If you should need additional supplies for any athletic contests, please make arrangements several days prior to your visit. If a certified ATC is not able to travel with your team, we do request that you bring documentation from an ATC or MD that includes the modalities requested for each studentathlete in your travel party.
