The two teams combined for 45 wins last season and are each 1-0 to begin the campaign. The Starting Five - Liberty s Top Storylines 1) Liberty enters the season riding a 12-game home winning streak. However, the Lady Flames are looking to win their home opener for the fi rst time since an victory over Grambling State on Nov. 16, ) The Lady Flames will look to avenge a setback at Elon last season (Nov. 25, 2014). Liberty is 11-4 all-time against its former Big South rival, including 5-1 at home. Elon s lone win at the Vines Center was a triumph on Jan. 13, 2000, in Carey Green s fi rst Big South game as the Lady Flames head coach. 3) After a season-opening victory at Appalachian State on Friday, Liberty is seeking its fi rst 2-0 start since the Lady Flames opened the year at ) Liberty will play back-to-back Monday contests against upper-echelon CAA opponents. Appalachian State cut its defi cit to with 1:37 remaining, but the Lady Flames hung on thanks to a Jaymee Fisher-Davis three-pointer on their next possession and an 8-of-10 showing at the foul line during the fi nal 34 seconds. Liberty outrebounded App State, 47-38, and held the host team to 32.8 percent (22-of- 67) shooting from the fi eld. Ashley Rininger paced all players in both points (23) and rebounds (11), including 10 points and fi ve boards during the fourth quarter. She recorded her fi fth straight doubledouble, dating back to last season, and became the eighth Lady Flame ever to grab 800 career boards. Sadalia Ellis chipped in 16 points, a team-high seven assists, a career-high six rebounds and a team-high four steals. Fantastic at the Foul Line The Lady Flames fared well at the free throw line in , ranking No. 1 in the Big South and No. 25 nationally at 74.5 percent. Liberty broke the program single-season record of 72.8 percent, set in Jaymee Fisher-Davis, who was 12-for-12 at the foul line last season, has made a program-record 26 straight free throws, dating back to her freshman year ( ). Liberty shot 75 percent (21-of-28) from the foul line at Appalachian State on Friday, including 81 percent (17-of-21) after halftime and 80 percent (8-of-10) during the game s fi nal 34 seconds. Lady Flames Big 3 Liberty s roster features a trio of redshirt seniors standing 6-4 or taller, including 6-6 Catherine Kearney, 6-5 Katelyn Adams and 6-4 Ashley Rininger. The Lady Flames are one of nine NCAA Division I women s basketball programs featuring three players who stand 6-4 or taller, including the only such squad in the Big South.
