With an ice storm hitting Western Virginia, the Virginia Tech ahtletics administration invited all Virginia Tech students to attend the game, free of charge, since most seasonticket holders would be unable to make it to Blacksburg... A crowd estimated at 8,000-8,500 packed Cassell Coliseum, giving the Hokies a unique game environment for this day and age... Tech won the game, 67-64, in overtime in front of a national television audience on FoxSportsNet. Dishing It Out In the win over Charleston Southern, Malcolm Delaney recorded a new careerhigh with eight assists in the game... That is the most assists in a game by a Hokie this season and the most assists in a game by Malcolm Delaney a Hokie since Jamon Gordon had eight assists in the regular season finale against Clemson in Cassell Coliseum last season... The last time a Hokie freshman had eight-or-more assists in a game was Zabian Dowdell s eight assists in the win over Morgan State in his freshman season of In the last two games, Delaney has 12 assists and just two turnovers. Non-Conference Streak in the Cassell With the home win over Charleston Southern, the Hokies stretched their home court, non-conference winning streak to 20 games... In the loss at Wake Forest, Hudson Dorenzo Hudson recorded his first double-figure scoring game as a Hokie, with 13 points off the bench... He played a career-high 28 minutes and started the second half for the Hokies... In the loss at Richmond, Hudson topped his career-high with 14 points, including three-of-five from three-point range. New Scorers With Dorenzo Hudson s 13 points in the loss at Wake Forest, Virginia Tech now has five freshmen who have scored in doublefigures in a game this season... That is a new high for the Hokies under Seth Greenberg and the most freshman with at least doublefigure scoring games this season among schools. Holding the Opponent Down Seth Greenberg has coached 138 games at Virginia Tech... In 44 of those games, or 31.9 percent of the games, the opponent has failed to shoot 40 percent from the field... Doubling Up In the win over Charleston Southern, Jeff Allen recorded his sixth double-double in his first 15 collegiate games... The last Hokie to record more than three double-doubles in a single season was Coleman Collins, who had seven double-doubles in the season...
