5 WR A.J. Jenkins - 1st Round - 30th Overall A versatile wide receiver, A.J. Jenkins possesses the skill set to line up at all three receiver positions. A three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, Jenkins became just the second player in Illinois history to register 90 receptions in a season, as a senior. His 1,276 receiving yards ranked second in school history. To go on record, A.J. s going to be an outstanding football player. His progress has been very, very good and exceeded expectations. So far in camp, what he s done in the offseason, has led us to believe nothing but that he will be an outstanding football player in the National Football League. 49ers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh 2012 DRAFT CLASS S Trenton Robinson - 6th Round - 180th Overall A three-year starter at Michigan State, Trenton Robinson was elected team captain his senior year as the Spartans led the Big Ten and ranked 6th in the nation in total defense (277.4 yds./gm.). Robinson registered a career high 80 tackles and was named First-Team All-Big Ten, in He also led the Spartans with 4 INTs in each of his final two seasons. He s a very smart guy, very intelligent, similar stature to myself. He has the quickness; he has the speed to be able to play in this league. He has the toughness and the smarts. It s really going to be up to him if he makes it or not because he has all the tools. - 49ers S Donte Whitner RB LaMichael James - 2nd Round - 61st Overall LaMichael James became the first two-time consensus All-America selection in Oregon history. In 2011, James led the nation, averaging rushing yards per game, and ranked 2nd in the NCAA with 1,805 rushing yards. The recipient of the Doak Walker Award as the nation s top running back in 2010, James became just the third player in Pac-10/12 Conference history to rush for over 5,000 yards in his career. LaMichael James is fast. When you really look at LaMichael and the body of work he put together in college, he was a very effective inside and outside runner. He s a tough, in-between-the-tackles runner in college and now it s a matter of just him adapting to that in the pros. We re throwing it all at him and we re going to just evaluate and get a feel for what he s good at. - 49ers Offensive Coordinator Greg Roman G Joe Looney - 4th Round - 117th Overall A four-year starter at left guard for Wake Forest, Joe Looney was a Second-Team All-ACC selection, in In each of the last two seasons, Looney graded out as the team s highest-rated offensive lineman. Really bright guy. Really smart, smart person. Not only book smart, but street smart, football smart. Everything matched up. Everything that you d heard about Joe and all of our research that we did on Joe at the school. You cannot find a person on that campus who has anything less than glowing things to say about him. Professors, coaches, trainers, equipment managers, from faculty to football to everybody that comes in contact with him there literally not a negative word. And you see what he s done, the pattern of success that he s had in the classroom, on the field. And then to meet him and to see and know that it all matches up, that was glaring to me. 49ers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh OL Jason Slowey - 6th Round - 199th Overall A two-time First-Team All-GNAC performer, Jason Slowey is the third football player from Western Oregon to be selected in the NFL Draft. A Division II standout, Slowey was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Lineman of the Year in Slowey is doing a great job as far as learning that playbook and competing. He might not know exactly how we re doing it or be as far along as the other guys, but he s doing a great job of learning, asking questions and being diligent in meetings. Then he s coming out here and competing. 49ers T Joe Staley LB Cam Johnson - 7th Round - 237th Overall A versatile linebacker who can play multiple positions, Cam Johnson was named Third-Team All-ACC in 2010 after registering a career-high 53 tackles and ranked sixth in the league with 6.5 sacks. Johnson led Virginia in both sacks and TFLs in each of his final two seasons. The guy obviously has talent. And like we told him, he s another guy that should come into the National Football League with a chip on his shoulder. He s a guy that believed he should have been a much higher pick. For whatever reason teams passed him over, and you like that. You like that about guys, come in here feeling that they were looked past and have a chip on their shoulder and are ready to compete for a position. - 49ers General Manager Trent Baalke LB Darius Fleming - 5th Round - 165th Overall A versatile athlete who played both defensive end and outside linebacker for the Fighting Irish, Darius Fleming ranks 10th in Notre Dame history with 15 career sacks. He posted 158 career tackles and was named Notre Dame s Lineman of the Year in 2011, after recording 55 tackles. Another great gold helmet guy. We believe he will have an outstanding opportunity with this football team. We rolled the dice last year with only three outside linebackers. It worked, but that is risky what we did last year. He will be competitive and has a tremendous upside. Looking forward to that. - 49ers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh

6 1 QB Josh Johnson - 6-3, 205-5th Year A product of then-head coach Jim Harbaugh at the University of San Diego, Josh Johnson is in his 5th pro season. Johnson completed 96 of 177 passes for 1,042 yards and 5 touchdowns while with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the last four seasons. A 25-yearold native of Oakland, CA, Johnson owns four USD career passing records including touchdown passes (113), completions (724), attempts (1,065) and passing yards (9,699). The great thing about Josh is just how smart he is. He s got a real high football IQ. He s coming from a West Coast system in Tampa Bay and he s thrilled to be back in the Bay area. Everyone knows about his athletic ability, but the thing that you get when you re in meetings and then when you see him out on the field is just how smart he is with his football IQ. We re excited to have him here. - 49ers Quarterbacks Coach Geep Chryst 14 WR Mario Manningham - 6-0, 185-5th Year Selected in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the New York Giants, Manningham recorded 160 receptions for 2,315 yards and 18 touchdowns over the past four seasons. In 2011, he played in 12 regular season games (10 starts) tallying 39 receptions for 523 yards and 4 touchdowns. He s got really good speed and quickness and burst in his routes. He s a savvy player that understands the game. He brings some leadership. He s won a Super Bowl. He s tough. He s got the whole package to bring to the table to keep the defenses honest. - 49ers Wide Receivers Coach John Morton 20 CB Perrish Cox - 6-0, 190-2nd Year Cox was originally a fifth round draft pick by the Denver Broncos in the 2010 NFL Draft. Cox has played in 15 games (9 starts), tallying 54 tackles, two forced fumbles, one interception and ranked third among NFL rookies with a team-high 14 passes defensed, in A key special team s player, Cox made four tackles on special teams as well as returned nine kickoffs for 172 yards. He s done well. He s done a good job playing the nickel position for us. He s got good instincts, he s got good short area quickness, can feel the routes and he s a capable corner also. It s critical you have those guys because when teams will put four wide receivers on the field, you need two of them then. 49ers Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio 28 RB Rock Cartwright - 5-8, th Year A 10-year veteran, Cartwright spent his first eight seasons with the Redskins ( ), before playing the past two with the Oakland Raiders ( ). In his career, Cartwright has played in 154 games (5 starts), recording 228 carries for 956 yards and 6 touchdowns. A key special teams contributor, he has returned 231 kicks for 5,450 yards (23.6 avg.) and one touchdown, in addition to logging 93 tackles on those units. Here s a very intelligent- I can t say young man because he s been around for a long time, but a real professional when it comes to playing the game and practicing the game. The guy always knows what he s supposed to do, works really hard and is a great person in the locker room and on the field. We re really glad he s here. - 49ers Assistant Head Coach/Special Teams Coordinator Brad Seely KEY FREE AGENT ACQUISITIONS 45 RB Brandon Jacobs - 6-4, 264-8th Year Jacobs was originally selected in the fourth round (110th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. The seven-year veteran has played in 100 games (48 starts) for the Giants, rushing for 4,849 yards, and a franchise-record 56 touchdowns, on 1,078 carries. Jacobs also recorded 80 receptions for 730 yards and four touchdowns. In 2011, he played in 14 games (six starts) and tallied 571 yards rushing and seven touchdowns on 152 carries, while adding 15 receptions for 128 yards and one touchdown. Brandon is a guy, and you think back on his career, when he gets his shoulders squared to the line of scrimmage and gets a forward lean, he is something. He s a unique running back. We ve seen a good amount of that. The big thing that I m impressed with Brandon, one of the many things, is he s very critical of himself. He might make a great run and hit it with just some big power. And he ll still say, I could have done this better, I could have done that better and that s an impressive (trait). We like that, we like that, that s what we look for. He s been a great fit 49ers Offensive Coordinator Greg Roman 68 G Leonard Davis - 6-6, th Year - 3 Pro Bowls Davis was orginially selected with the second pick overall by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2001 NFL Draft. He has started all 155 games in which he has appeared, was named Second-Team All-Pro in 2007 and is a three-time Pro Bowl selection ( ). After spending six seasons with the Cardinals ( ), Davis was signed by the Dallas Cowboys on March 5, 2007 where he remained with the club for four seasons ( ). When asked about competing, he said he wouldn t be here if he wasn t here to compete, so I thought that was spot on and take a man at his word. I m excited to watch that unfold. - 49ers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh 84 WR Randy Moss - 6-4, th Year - 6 Pro Bowls One of the most prolific wide receivers in NFL history, Randy Moss joins the 49ers with 13 years of NFL experience. The six-time Pro Bowler, and fourtime AP All-Pro, set the NFL single-season record for touchdown receptions in 2007 with 23. Moss has caught 10 or more touchdown passes in nine NFL seasons and registered 10, 1,000-yard receiving campaigns. Moss and Jerry Rice are the only NFL player to register 100 touchdown receptions in fewer than 140 games. In NFL history, he now ranks tied for 2nd with 153 career receiving touchdowns and 9th with 954 receptions. The great thing about being around Randy is he keeps it light. He makes it fun to play out there. He s a great communicator out there. A guy that played that much, he sees things really well, communicates really well. So, it s really been great working with him. Honestly I ve learned a lot. - 49ers QB Alex Smith

12 Since entering the league in 1998, WR Randy Moss has been buliding a Hall of Fame legacy on the backs of opposing secondaries. His arrival in San Francisco puts him in the same uniform as the only receiver in front of him for many NFL records, Hall of Famer Jerry Rice. Now donning the red and gold, Moss has had a positive impact on the locker room and enjoyed taking a lot of the younger players under his wing. Now that I m matured physically and mentally, my philosophy is I do not like what the NFL does for me, I want to know what I can do to make the NFL better. said the 14-year veteran Moss. And if that s coming out here teaching the young guys and showing my professionalism and being a leader on and off the field, that s what I want to do because I think that if we get that type of mindset it ll make it a better league. QB Alex Smith has had nothing but great things to say about Moss and the wealth of knowledge he brings to the team. He s a great communicator out there, said Smith. A guy that played that much, he sees things really well, communicates really well. So, it s really been great working with him. Honestly I ve learned a lot. Moss s on-field history speaks for itself. His name is etched in the Top 10 in numerous NFL receiving records, and will continue to rise to the top with a successful 2012 campaign. Moss s Career Highlights... Ranks 2nd all-time in rec. There is nobody left to chase when it comes to most receiving TDs in a season, Moss stands alone with the 23 he scored in 2007 as a Patriot. WR Jerry Rice had 22 in 1987 with the 49ers also saw Moss post 9, 100-yd. receving games which is good for 6th on the all-time list. In 2007 Moss had a 4 TD game vs. Buffalo (11/18/07) as a member of the Patriots, putting him in 4th all-time for most TDs in a game. Moss has finished the season as the NFL leader in TD recepts. 5 times, putting him in 3rd all-time behind WR Jerry Rice (6) and WR Don Hutson (9). For 10 consecutive games in , Moss caught at least 1 TD pass, placing him in a 4th place tie with Carl Pickens (10). Moss is the fastest player to reach 5,000 career receiving yards in NFL History (59 games). He broke the previous record held by WR Jerry Rice (61 games). Moss has torn up the turf at NFL stadiums throughout his highly decorated career en route to posting ridiculous receiving statistics. 13 To PROTECT AND SERVE A 5th-year pro from Central Michigan University, T Joe Staley was named a starter on his 1st Pro Bowl team after his stellar play in Staley has been the anchor on the offensive line since entering the league in 2007 and has had QB Alex Smith s blindside since then. Staley was named AP 2nd Team All-Pro in 2011 and no one was happier for him than Smith when he heard Staley was named to the Pro Bowl and earned All-Pro honors. Really happy for Joe, really happy, said Smith. The guy works as hard as anybody and he s played at a high level now for a few years. I really feel like he hasn t got the recognition he s deserved, for whatever reason, as some of the other left tackles that I think get a lot of notoriety in this league. I really feel like he s all that player and then some. And this year he s really done it just week in and week out and has just played at a really high level. He s really taken a leadership role with that whole offensive line. Kind of really stepped up to the challenge and has really been a leader for us. Staley was part of an offensive line that helped the team rush for 1,928 yards in 2011, ranking seventh in the NFL. Staley and the offensive line were awarded the Madden Most Valuable Protectors Award in Week 5, helping the offense rush for 213 yards on the ground while not allowing a sack. Jonathan Goodwin joined the 49ers after spending five seasons with the New Orleans Saints. A smart and savvy 10-year veteran, he has started the last 61 regular season games in which he has appeared and was responsible for all the calls and adjustments made by the offensive line. He was selected to the Pro Bowl following the 2009 season and was a member of the New Orleans Saints Super Bowl XLIV Championship Team. Selected 17th overall in the 2010 NFL Draft, Mike Iupati showcased his rare combination of size and athleticism as he was named the team s starting left guard during training camp his rookie season. He has started all 32 games, and both postseason contests, since his rookie year in Iupati, along with T Anthony Davis, are two of only five players from the 2010 Draft Class to start every game in each of the past two seasons. A mild and polite native of American Samoa, Iupati plays with a nasty mean streak on the field. Following his rookie season, Iupati was named to The Sporting News and PFW/ PFWA All- Rookie teams. Armed with tremendous size, strength, and athleticism, Anthony Davis made an immediate impact at right tackle as a rookie after being selected with the 11th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. Davis, along with fellow rookie offensive lineman G Mike Iupati, were two of only five NFL rookies to start every game since 2010, and they became just the third set of rookies to start every game on the offensive line since the 16-game schedule was instituted in Davis diligently works on his craft throughout the offseason as he and Iupati spend countless hours watching film together.

17 WILLING HIS TEAM TO VICTORY An annual candidate for NFL Defensive Player of the Year, LB Patrick Willis has created an impressive resume during his 5-year playing career - 5 Pro Bowl appearances, 4 All-Pro selections, 2 NFL Alumni Linebacker of the Year Awards and NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. In 2011, his teammates named him a team captain and he later earned 1st Team AP All-Pro honors and was named a starter on the NFC Pro Bowl squad. On May 5, 2010, the 49ers and arguably the game s best defensive player agreed on a 5-year contract extension, ensuring that he will be donning the Red & Gold through the 2016 season. We will bring the sixth championship back here and I m just thankful today to know that I will be able to be here to do that, said Willis. An All-Pro on and off the field, Willis hosted his first camp for kids this past offseason in Palo Alto on June 9th and 10th. The All-Pro linebacker or Coach Willis to the campers bounced from field to field over the weekend and even took some snaps under center. He also tossed a few long touchdown passes and could be seen running down the field to join his campers in celebration. It was a lot of fun out there, Willis said. Anytime you get the opportunity to come back and give back, it s a great feeling. Without these guys I wouldn t be who I am today. Willis Career Highlights... 18 THE CLOSER His consistent, blue collar approach every single day has earned DT Justin Smith talk of a candidacy for NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors from his coaches and teammates, as well as others around the National Football League. Dating back to his rookie season, Smith has not missed a start in more than 10 seasons. He leads by example and his knowledge of the game has landed him back-to-back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances and consideration for this year s NFL Defensive Player of the Year. In addition to being named a starter in this year s Pro Bowl, Smith was named 1st Team AP All-Pro at DT and 2nd Team at DE. He is the first player to be named to the AP s 1st and 2nd team at different positions in the same phase of the game. After his performance vs. the Giants earlier in 2011 (11/13/11), Smith earned praise from various outlets, including San Jose Mercury News Columnist Tim Kawakami, who compared Smith with Yankees closer and future Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera, stating: Every serious playoff team needs an intimidating closer, and the 49ers have their guy in dominant form. Large fellow. Inspires his teammates. Weighs almost 300 pounds. Takes the game over when the drama builds and the stadium shakes... On a team that continues to rise to the NFL summit, Smith is the foundation, the quiet standard-bearer and undeniable tone-setter. Two times in 2011, Smith came up big for the 49ers by making defensive MVP-like plays. First, at Phi. (10/2/11), Smith sealed the victory by punching the ball loose from Eagles speedy wideout Jeremy Maclin to cap off a 20-pt. come-from-behind win. And again vs. NYG (11/13/11), on 4th down, Smith stuck his paw in the air to bat down Eli Manning s last attempt and once again cap off the victory for the Niners. With 7.5 sacks in 2011, Smith became just the 3rd player in franchise history to register at least 6 sacks in four consecutive seasons. Four years ago, he started playing the bass guitar, learning on his own before starting lessons a year later. That passion grew when he joined former Dallas Cowboys offensive linemen teammates Marc Colombo and Cory Procter to form the band Free Reign. The band signed a record deal and released its first album in In the last year, Davis became involved playing music at his local church in Phoenix, Az. Davis strength can be traced back to his youth. His father, L.A. Davis had to drop out of school when he was a teenager, begin working and help support his family. Growing up, Davis helped his family working odd jobs on a farm. We did backbreaking stuff, picking corn with your hands, not with a machine, going through and shredding it, throwing it over and in the tractor, Davis said. You scoop it in a bucket, throw it in the trailer and when its time to unload, you shovel it out. The constant exercise kept Davis in shape and helped build muscle. Davis said his dream of playing in the NFL started in 2nd grade. In elementary and middle school, he helped as a manager for the high school football team. Davis joined a youth football league in 6th grade, but it was difficult for his family to raise enough money to register so he could play sports. But enough friends and community members would help out. Just for me to go to a basketball tournament, people would have to pitch in. // 2011 (DETROIT) Signed with Det. on 11/7 and was inactive for final 8 games of regular season. // 2010 (DALLAS) Started all 16 games and one playoff game at RG.
