UCLA's 50+ Rebound Games Total (Off-Def) Opponent 54 (25-29) vs. CSUF (11/16/08) 50 (18-32) vs. Pepperdine (11/18/08) 54 (26-28) vs. CSUN (11/30/08) 54 (29-25) vs. CSUB (12/3/08) 54 (21-33) vs. Nevada (12/7/08) 53 (21-32) at Rice (12/17/08) 55 (23-32) vs. USC (1/11/09) THE 64-POINT QUESTION The home game against Arizona State marked the ninth time this season an opponent has scored more than 64 points against the Bruins. Seven of UCLA's eight losses, including fi ve on the road have come when the opponent has scored more than 64 points. UCLA has gone 2-7 in those games --- defeated Washington (74-66) and USC (87-75); and lost to Arizona State (69-66), at USC (87-76), at Stanford (68-51), at Arizona State (68-44), to Oregon (73-56), at Maryland (88-65), and at Texas Tech (72-62). The eighth loss this season came at Cal, when the Golden Bears outscored the Bruins GREAT START This year's squad became just the third UCLA team to have won at least 14 games by Feb. 1 on the calendar --- the team won 17; the team won 19. The last time UCLA held consecutive opponents to less than 50 points was Dec. 2 and Dec 3, 1988 in games against LMU (61-46) and Northern Arizona (80-46). On Jan. 17, the Bruins surrendered a season-low 38 points at Arizona. It was the fewest points allowed by a UCLA team since the Bruins defeated Northern Arizona on Nov. 28, When Rice scored 64 points in a meeting earlier this season in Houston, it snapped a streak of fi ve straight opponents being held under the 60-point mark. The last time UCLA held more than fi ve straight opponents to less than 60 points in a game was in the season, when the Bruins held fi ve and six straight opponents to under 60 points in two different streaks. HOME SWEET HOME The Bruins own a 12-2 record in Pauley Pavilion this year. It is the most wins a UCLA team has posted in Pauley Pavilion since the team went UCLA has won more than 12 home games in Pauley just three other seasons (13 in ; 12 in ; 16 in ; 13 in ). (note: from 1986 to 1997 UCLA did play some home games in the Wooden Center on campus but never won more than 11 home games). SHOT OF A LIFETIME - $240,000 At every home game, one lucky fan will have an opportunity to win an escalating prize of at least $100,000 in the halftime contest "Shot of a Lifetime". She helped the Lady Vols post a record during that span, including fi ve trips to the Final Four and produced NCAA Championships in 2007 and In her previous 14 seasons as a collegiate player and assistant coach, Caldwell's teams compiled an amazing record and appeared in the NCAA Tournament each season, while winning a total of three national championships. Her teams have posted a 26-7 record in NCAA Tournament play. She has coached 20 players who have gone on to play in the WNBA and four who have represented the United States in the Olympic Games. In 2008, the Lady Vols captured a second-straight NCAA Championship and fi nished with a record of National Player of the Year Candace Parker, the No. 1 selection in the WNBA draft and the 2008 WNBA MVP, led a group of fi ve Lady Vols to be drafted into the WNBA. Caldwell joined the Tennessee staff for the season and became the recruiting director in the spring of In the fall of 2003, the Tennessee staff signed perhaps the most prolifi c freshman class in the history of women's collegiate basketball. That class consisted of six 2004 high school All-Americans, including three Players of the Year. In 2007, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) named Tennessee as the best recruiting school in the nation. In 2008, three of the top 15 current high school seniors in the country (hoopgurlz.com) committed to play for Tennessee in the season, and fi ve played in the McDonald's All-American Game. Prior to her return as a coach at her alma mater, Caldwell served as an assistant at the University of Virginia for three seasons ( ). She was responsible for recruiting, scouting, fi lm exchange, player development, camps and monitoring academics. UVA put together a record of in her three seasons and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in each campaign. A guard during her playing days at Tennessee ( ) when the Lady Vols compiled a record, Caldwell was known for her tough defense and three-point shooting. She still ranks among the all-time top 10 at Tennessee in three-point fi eld goals made (128) and three-point shots attempted (364). She scored 20 points in her fi rst collegiate game against Stanford and went on to be named to the Southeastern Conference's (SEC) All-Freshman team. In the 1991 NCAA title game victory over Virginia, Caldwell's defense was considered a key in UT's overtime win. She received the Gloria Ray Leadership Award in both her junior and senior seasons at Tennessee. After graduating with a degree in public relations in 1994, Caldwell moved behind the microphone as a color analyst on Tennessee games for Fox Sports Net South. She went on to become the color analyst for the SEC Game of the Week from Her television exposure opened the door for her to become the hostess of the sports segments for the Knoxville, TN-based cable network show, Shop at Home ( ). She then decided to return to her fi rst love, coaching, in 1998, when she became a graduate assistant on the Lady Vols basketball coaching staff. During the season, Tennessee went 31-3 and captured the SEC regular season and SEC Tournament titles. Caldwell is a passionate crusader for breast cancer awareness. She and Tennessee assistant coach Holly Warlick have founded a non-profi t organization, Champions for a Cause. Since 2007, they have raised nearly $100,000 through Cruisin' for a Cause, a long-haul motorcycle adventure to raise dollars and awareness for a cure for breast cancer. pg. 7 of 8
