1 Men s Basketball Release, Jan. 8 BADGERS FACE MICHIGAN STATE (10-2) looks to stay unbeaten in Big Ten play when (5-6) visits the Kohl Center (17,142) on Saturday, Jan. 10. The game will tip off at 11 a.m. and will be televised nationally by ESPN (also on ESPN HD) with Dan Shulman, Dick Vitale and Doris Burke on the call. It can also be heard live on the Radio Network (WIBA AM/101.5 FM in Madison) and on uwbadgers.com with Matt Lepay and Mike Lucas calling the game. The Badgers are ranked 18th in the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll and 21st in the Associated Press poll. MSU is not ranked., which has not lost a Big Ten home game under Bo Ryan, is looking for its 22nd straight home win overall. UW opened the Big Ten season by dominating Indiana, 79-45, at home on Tuesday. Mike Wilkinson recorded his first double-double of the season, tying a career high with 20 points and adding 10 rebounds. Devin Harris scored 15 points, going over 1,000 for is career, and dished out a personal-best tying nine assists. As a team, the Badgers had 21 assists and just five turnovers. UW held the Hoosiers to just 29.1 percent shooting from the field. WISCONSIN-MICHIGAN STATE NOTES leads the all-time series 63-49, but the Badgers have won 36 of the 58 meetings in Madison. The Badgers and Spartans have played just once a year in the past two seasons, with UW winning both meetings. 2 TEAM NOTES has won 21 consecutive games at the Kohl Center, the secondlongest current home winning streak in the Big Ten ( has won 23 straight at home). That is the third-longest home streak in school history and is the seventh-longest current streak in the country. It is the longest for UW since it won 24 in a row from Jan. 14, 1929-Feb. 14, In the last five years, the Badgers are 70-9 (.886) in home games. In three seasons under Bo Ryan, the UW has been even better, going 36-2 (.947) overall and 17-0 in Big Ten home games. The Badgers are coming off a 34-point win over Indiana. It was UW s largest margin of victory over a Big Ten opponent since beating Northwestern on Jan. 5, 1974 and its biggest win over IU since winning on Jan. 12, Junior Devin Harris became just the 28th Badger to score at least 1,000 career points. Only five other UW players (Michael Finley, Danny Jones, Claude Gregory, Rick Olson and Cory Blackwell) have reached that plateau as a junior. He has the most career points of any current junior in the Big Ten. According to CollegeRPI.com, the Badgers have played the 18th-toughest schedule in the country and secondtoughest among Big Ten teams. Seven of their 11 opponents are currently ranked among the top 100. The Badgers turned the ball over just five times against Indiana, their lowest total of the season and tied for the lowest total in a game in the Bo Ryan era. Since the building opened on Jan. 17, 1998 (a win over Northwestern), the UW has won 72 of its 86 homes games (.837 winning percentage). Five of those 14 losses came during the 1998 season, giving the UW a 70-9 home over the last five years. Under head coach Bo Ryan, the Badgers have become even tougher to beat at home. In Ryan s two seasons, has compiled a 36-2 (.947) mark at the Kohl Center. In conference play, the UW is a perfect 17-0 at home under Ryan.
