25 BARN BURNER TROPHY / TITAN SERIES Beginning with the season, the and Indiana women s basketball teams have played an annual game for the Barn Burner Trophy. The traveling trophy is similar in concept to football s Old Oaken Bucket and volleyball s Monon Spike. It is a wood plaque with a drawing of a barn and an attached basketball hoop, which best describes basketball in Indiana. Sara Lee Corporation funded the plaque as part of its Discover Women s Sports Program. The Hoosiers won 17 of the first 19 meetings between the two schools from 1976 to 1986, but has turned the tables by winning 28 of the last 33 to take a advantage in the all-time intrastate series. In , and Indiana raised the stakes in their storied rivalry by creating the Keebler-sponsored Titan Series, an all-sports competition between the two institutions. The results of meetings between every sport in which both schools compete figure in the final tally, with the winner of each event earning one point. In sports that feature two meetings in one season, the winner is awarded half a point for a victory. A total of 19 points are possible. Indiana won the inaugural Titan Series Trophy by a score of 10 to 9.
