4 SUMMER LEAGUE HEAD COACH KEITH SMART - ASSISTANT COACH Keith Smart recently completed his sixth season as an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors, his ninth season as an NBA assistant coach. Overall, Smart owns 20 years of professional basketball experience as either a player or coach. Among his many duties at Golden State, Smart continues to work closely with players on individual skill development and game strategy. He has served as the head coach of Golden State s summer league entry in Las Vegas for each of the past two seasons and assisted the Latvian National Team in the summer of 2008 in a qualifying tournament for the 2009 European Championships. Lativa, led by Warriors center Andris Biedrins, posted a 4-2 record in the tournament and qualified for EuroBasket 2009 in Poland. Smart, 44, joined the Warriors prior to the campaign after spending the previous three seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was named the Cavaliers interim head coach in the middle of the season (January 20, 2003), and posted a 9-31 record in 40 games after taking over for John Lucas. At the time, he was the second youngest head coach in the NBA, trailing only Eric Musselman. During his first two-plus seasons in Cleveland, Smart held the position of assistant coach/director of player development. Prior to joining the Cavs, Smart spent three seasons as the head coach of the CBA s Fort Wayne Fury, compiling a record of (.506) and guiding the team to its first back-to-back winning seasons in franchise history in and In his first campaign as a head coach at any level in , he guided the Fury to a franchise-record 31-win season and a trip to the playoffs. The club made the playoffs again in , despite having a single-season franchise record nine players signed to NBA contracts. He was awarded the American Conference Coach of the Month Award five times during his tenure with Fort Wayne and had a CBA-high 21 players signed to NBA contracts. In the summer of 2005, Smart served as the head coach for the Dominican Republic National Men s Basketball Team, which was the host squad for the 2005 FIBA Americas Championship. During the tournament, he led the Dominican squad to a 6-5 record and sixth-place finish in the 10-team tournament. During his professional basketball playing career, Smart spent six seasons in the CBA, two seasons in France and one in Venezuela. Smart also played briefly in the NBA, appearing in two games for the San Antonio Spurs during the season. Smart was originally drafted by the Warriors in the second round (41st overall) of the 1988 NBA Draft. As a collegiate player, he spent two seasons at Indiana University after earning Junior College All-American honors at Garden City (Kansas) Community College. He is widely remembered for his Final Four heroics in 1987, in which he was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four after leading Indiana to a National Championship with his game-winning shot versus Syracuse in the title game. Smart earned a B.S. in Communications from Indiana in Born on September 21, 1964, Keith and his wife, Carol, have two sons, André and Jared. They currently reside in Dublin.

5 SUMMER LEAGUE COACHES STEPHEN SILAS - ASSISTANT COACH Stephen Silas, 35, completed his third season as an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors, marking his eighth season overall as an NBA assistant coach. With the Warriors, Silas concentrates on the development of perimeter players as well as game preparation and managing the team s offensive and defensive playbook. Prior to joining the Warriors, Silas served as an advance scout for the Washington Wizards during the season after spending five seasons on the coaching staffs of his father, Paul Silas, with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the New Orleans/Charlotte Hornets. The younger Silas served as an assistant coach for the Cavaliers during the & campaigns, where he was charged with individual skill work, player development, game preparation, pre-game walkthroughs as well as managing and developing technology and NBA scouting systems for the coaching staff. Silas also served as head coach for the Cavaliers 2003 Summer League teams in Boston and Orlando. Prior to joining the Cavaliers, Silas spent the previous three seasons as an assistant coach with the Hornets. At the time of his hiring as an assistant with the Hornets on June 5, 2000, he was the youngest assistant in the NBA at the age of 27. Silas originally joined the Hornets in the summer of 1999 as an advance and college scout, scouting nearly 200 NBA and college games in that role. Additionally, he served as the head coach for the Hornets Summer League squad at the 2002 Orlando Summer Pro League. In addition to his work with NBA teams, Silas coached at the 2007 NBA Pre-Draft camp in Orlando. He served as a coach at the NBA s Basketball Without Borders camp in Africa this past summer, as well as in Beijing, China during the summer of He also represented the NBA Coaches Association at the Dirk Nowitzki Basketball Academy in Berlin, Germany, in July of 2004 and served as a coach at the 2003 NBA Pre-Draft Camp. Prior to joining the NBA, Silas spent three years as the assistant executive director of the National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA) in Providence, Rhode Island. The Boston native graduated from Brown University in 1996 with Bachelor s Degrees in sociology and management. He played four seasons for the Bears basketball team. Silas and his wife, Keryl, were married in 2002 and are the proud parents of their two daughters, Kyler Elyse and Kaelyn. RUSSELL TURNER - ASSISTANT COACH Russell Turner, 38, completed his fifth season as an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors. Among his many duties with Golden State, Turner assists with game planning, analyzes opponent personnel tendencies, and works closely with players on individual skill development. He has also served as a coach for the Warriors summer league entry in Las Vegas in each of the past four off-seasons. Turner has also been an active participant in the NBA s international outreach camps such as Basketball Without Borders, representing the league in Turkey, China and Lithuania in recent summers. Prior to joining the Warriors coaching staff, Turner spent 11 seasons as a collegiate assistant coach, working in two highly-successful programs. He spent four seasons at Stanford University from to , and prior to that he served six seasons as an assistant coach at Wake Forest University from to A native of Roanoke, Virginia, Turner worked for one season ( ) as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Hampden-Sydney (VA) College. As a player at Hampden-Sydney, Turner was a two-time All-American ( ), and set the school s all-time scoring record (2,272 points). His teams set school records for wins, while earning two league championships and made the school s first two appearances in the NCAA Tournament. Turner graduated in 1992 with Magna Cum Laude honors and a B.A. in English and Economics. He also gained numerous academic honors, including introduction into Phi Beta Kappa. Born October 24, 1970, Turner and his wife, Elizabeth, live in Menlo Park with their two children, Devlin and Darius.
