David West moved to third all-time in Hornets playoff history with 121 field goals made, passing Jamal Mashburn who hit 118 career playoff field goals. 4 HORNETS PLAYOFF RECORDS BROKEN IN 2009: The Nuggets scored 113 points, which set a new record for opponent team highs, eclipsing the mark of 112 set at BOS on 4/29/93. Chauncey Billups eight three-pointers marked an all-time playoff opponent individual high, besting the previous record of six, set by Manu Ginobili at SAS on 5/15/08. The Hornets made just one steal 4/22/09 at DEN, marking an all-time team low the previous low was 2, set twice, most recently at DAL on 4/25/08. Denver turned the ball over just six times 4/22/09 in Game 2, tying the previous all-time opponent low set at MIA, 5/4/04. THREE-POINT BARRAGE: Peja Stojakovic and Rasual Butler combined to hit on 8-of-10 from three-point range in Game 2 at DEN the duo combined for a total of 29 points as Butler hit for 12 points his first double-digit playoff performance as a Hornet in the third quarter, Stojakovic and Butler hit on 4-of-4 from long range. CONTINUING THE TREND FROM 2008 S ROUND 2: In the Hornets 2008 Round 2 match-up with the Spurs, the home team won by an average of 18.7 points over the first six games the Hornets defeated the Spurs by margins of 19, 18, and 22 points, while the Spurs won their home contests against the Hornets by 11, 20 and 19 points. PAUL DOING IT ALL: Chris Paul ended the second round with a stat line of 18 points and 14 assists Paul either made or assisted on 54 percent of his team s field goals during this year s playoffs, the highest percentage for any player in NBA history through the first nine postseason games of his career the next-highest percentages through their first nine playoff games belong to LeBron James (49.2% in 2006) and Bob Cousy (48.8% from 1951 to 1953). THREE ROUTS: The Hornets three wins over the Spurs in Round 2 during the 2008 playoffs were routs the Hornets defeated the Spurs by margins of 19, 18, and 22 points over the last 12 seasons, only one team defeated San Antonio by at least 18 points even twice in the same playoff series: the Lakers, with wins by 39 and 29 points in the 2001 Western Conference Finals. ANOTHER 30/10 GAME: Chris Paul 30 points and 12 assists in the Hornets Game Two win over the Spurs on 5/5/08 he s the first player in 13 years to score at least 30 points and record 10-or-more assists in a postseason game against San Antonio the last player to do that was Houston s Sam Cassell on May 30, 1995 over the last two regular seasons only one player had a 30/10 (points/assists) versus the Spurs and he did it in an overtime game: Baron Davis (34 and 14) on January 7, NOT BAD FOR HIS FIRST SERIES: Chris Paul capped a historic playoff debut series with a triple double in the Hornets win, eliminating the Mavericks from the NBA s postseason Paul averaged 12.0 assists in the five-game series, the second-highest mark in NBA history by a player in his first postseason series the record is 13.0 by Kevin Johnson in 1989 over the last 20 years, the only other players to post a triple-double in their playoff series were LeBron James (2006) and Steve Francis (2004). PAUL CAN BALL: Chris Paul was simply amazing in the first two games of the 2008 playoffs Paul had 32 points and 17 assists on 4/22/08 vs. DAL, in his second career postseason game, after having 35 points and 10 assists on Saturday, in his playoff debut Chicago s Derrick Rose became the only other player besides Paul to achieve the feat in his first career playoff game (Game 1 vs. BOS on 4/18/09) Paul is still the first player in NBA history with at least 30 points and 10 assists in each of his first two career playoff games and he s also the first to total 67 points and 27 assists in his first two career playoff games. ON MJ S FOOTSTEPS: Chris Paul s two straight games with at least 30 points and 10 assists in Game 1 and 2 vs. DAL during the 2008 playoffs put him in very elite category Michael Jordan is the only NBA player to have had three straight games with at least 30 and 10 in the playoffs Paul tied several other players at two straight games, a list that includes Oscar Robertson, Steve Nash and Kevin Johnson. TEAM The Hornets won seven games in the 2008 playoffs that is the most in one postseason in franchise history New Orleans has never advanced past the conference semifinals. The Hornets are one of seven current franchises never to make the Finals (Clippers, Nuggets, Timberwolves, Grizzlies, Raptors, Bobcats). Byron Scott won three NBA titles as a player he has been to the Finals twice as a coach, but has not won. With the win over DAL 4/12, the Hornets won the regular season series over the Mavs, 3-1 it marked the first time since (2-0) that the Hornets won the season series with Dallas. New Orleans outshot the Mavericks, 55.6% to 42.5%...it is the fourth time in the last eight games that New Orleans has outshot its opponent.

5 The Hornets attempted just 12 free throws 4/8 vs. PHO, connecting on nine of them when attempting 15 or fewer free throws, the Hornets are 1-9, the lone win was 1/2 at POR.the Hornets have averaged just 12.7 trips to the line in the last three games. The loss to PHO on 4/8 marked the first time the Suns have defeated the Hornets since 4/6/07 and snapped a six-game New Orleans win streak in the series. With the overtime win over MIA on 4/7, the Hornets clinched a spot in the playoffs for the second-straight season it will mark the 11 th appearance for the Hornets in the playoffs it was New Orleans second-straight win at MIA after losing the previous five match-ups with the Heat on their home floor. The win over MIA also marked the first overtime win for the Hornets this season the Hornets dropped two overtime contests this season 2/20 at LAL and 4/15 at SAS. The Hornets finished the month of March with an 11-5 record it marks the 13 th time in franchise history, the Hornets have had 10 or more wins in a month. Over the last 20 games, New Orleans has reached 100 points six times, including four performances of 85 points or less. The Hornets finished after the All-Star break, including a 10-4 mark at home. The Hornets allowed just seven (11/19 vs. SAC; 12/23 vs. LAL; 1/12 vs. NYK; 1/19 vs. IND; 2/4 vs. CHI; 4/5 vs. UTA; 4/8 vs. PHO) of 41 opponents to score 100 or more points at the New Orleans Arena, as those seven games account for six of New Orleans 13 home losses. The Hornets sold out 22 games during the regular season (11 of the last 13), eclipsing last year s total New Orleans sold out 13 regularseason games last year and also registered sellouts in all seven home playoff games in INDIVIDUAL Chris Paul finished with just nine points and seven assists 4/13 at HOU, the first time this season he s been held to single digits in both categories. Chris Paul, David West and Peja Stojakovic combined for 75 of the Hornets 100 points 4/8 vs. PHO in the game 4/10 at DAL, West and Paul scored 62 of the Hornets 92 points. Chris Paul had 25 points, nine rebounds, nine assists and six steals 4/7 at MIA it s the third time this season he s had at least that many of each in a game no one else has done that since Jason Kidd in 2003 Paul led the Hornets in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. David West hit 4-of-5 shots in overtime scoring eight of the Hornets 14 points, after going 4-for-17 in regulation for 12 points West has scored 20 or more points in eight of the last 10 games. After 14-straight games with 10 or more points, Butler has hit for double-digits in five of the last 11 games. Chris Paul has averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 11.2 assists and 2.87 steals, while shooting 52.2 percent from the field and 145-for-159 (91.2 percent) from the line in the last 23 games Paul has scored 25 or more points 16 times in the last 23 contests. David West has plus point games and the Hornets hold a 20-8 record when he does so West put together a string of four-straight games with 28 or more points and 10 rebounds, the first time a Hornet has done so. Peja Stojakovic now has 1,571 career three-pointers, ranking him into fourth all-time in the NBA record book Stojakovic is behind Dale Ellis who ranks third with 1,719 career three-pointers made. Peja Stojakovic has hit five or more triples in a game 69 times in his career and 25 times since joining the Hornets. Chris Paul has at least one steal in 284 of 310 career games (including playoffs) he has a steal in 272 of 298 regular season games.
