REUNITED AND IT FEELS SO GOOD: Newly acquired guard Mike James is teaming up with Morris Peterson once again the two were teammates during the season in Toronto and each player had their best season as a pro James averaged career highs in points (20.3 ppg), assists (5.8 asp), rebounds (3.3 rpg), field goal percentage (.469) and 3-point field goal percentage (.442) in 79 games (79 starts), while Peterson averaged a career-high 16.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 177 three-pointers made. THE WELL(S) IS NOT DRY: Newly acquired swingman Bonzi Wells should be a big factor off the bench for the Hornets the nine-anda-half year NBA veteran brings experience, scoring and rebounding to the team when given the minutes this season, Wells has produced in the 16 games Wells played 27+ minutes, he s averaged 15.9 points. IT S A WRAP: The All-Star Game put the city of New Orleans in the spotlight and it did not disappoint the Hornets had many representatives during the weekend on All-Star Saturday Night, Chris Paul finished second in the Skills Challenge, while Peja Stojakovic garnered a fourth place slot in the Three-Point Contest on Sunday, the Western Conference All-Stars, coached by our own Byron Scott, fell to the Eastern Conference All-Stars, David West contributed six points and four rebounds in 16 minutes, while CP3 put on a show, scoring 16 points, dishing out 14 assists and collecting four steals in 27 minutes. CP3 SHINES ON NATIONAL STAGE: Chris Paul did not disappoint in his first All-Star Game, leading the West back from 13-down in the fourth quarter, before falling in the final seconds Paul had 16 points and 14 assists, marking the first time a player has had 14+ assists in an All-Star Game since Jason Kidd (2000) in addition, Paul is just the fourth player in All-Star Game history to reach 14+ points and 14+ assists in the game (Magic Johnson-four times, Isiah Thomas-twice and Oscar Roberston-as a rookie in 1961). COACH OF THE MONTH: Hornets head coach Byron Scott was named the January Western Coach of the Month the NBA the Hornets finished with a record of 12-2 during the month, including a 5-0 mark on the road, tying a franchise-high for wins and also setting a franchise-best winning percentage of.857 Scott becomes the first coach to win the honor since Paul Silas won the award in April of 2003 the Hornets have won the award four times total, as Silas also earned the honor in April of 2000 and Dave Cowens in April of ALLEY OOP- Chris Paul and Tyson Chandler have produced many high-flying highlights this season, connecting on numerous alley oops so many in fact, that they lead the league in alley oops with 63, more than 30 ahead of the next closest tandem. DUNK-O-METER: When you watch a Hornets game, chances are you are going to see Tyson Chandler throw down a dunk during the game whether it s an alley oop from Chris Paul or a follow up after an offensive rebound, TC has been dunking a lot overall, Chandler has 129 dunks this season, ranking him third in the NBA he 16 dunks behind the Suns Amare Stoudemire and 95 behind the Magic s Dwight Howard.

5 CRUNCH TIME: Turning it up a notch is what the Hornets do in the final minutes of a close game overall, the Hornets are 12-5 in games decided by seven points or less, 8-2 in games decided by four points or less in the final five minutes of those 16 games, the Hornets shoot 61 percent from the field and 47 percent from three-point range. BLOCK PARTY: In addition to his increased rebounding and consistent scoring, David West has been blocking shots at a high number West has blocked 76 shots thus far, including a career-high five blocks, 12/19 at SEA and again on 1/30 vs. GSW through 52 games last season, West blocked a total of 38 shots. 20+ REBS: Grabbing 20+ rebounds is no easy task, but for Tyson Chandler, it has become a frequent occurrence since the season, Chandler has had 14 games of 20+ rebounds, including three this season Orlando s Dwight Howard has 21 games, Denver s Marcus Camby has had 19 games of 20+ rebounds since the season, while Boston s Kevin Garnett has 13. MO PLAYING BETTER EQUALS MO WINS: Morris Peterson is an important part of the Hornets offense and when he is hitting his shots, the Hornets have won when Mo Pete scores 10+ points, the Hornets are an impressive 17-4 (4-0 when he scores 20+). WILD, WILD WEST: David West has been the model of consistency for the Hornets this season, scoring in double figures in 56 of the 58 games (12/5 vs. DET, 12/14 at DAL) in addition to his scoring, West has been rebounding the ball very well overall, D West has had 12 games of 13+ rebounds during the entire season, West had five games of 13+ rebounds West has had 13 games of 20+ points and 10+ rebounds, last season he had eight. A SEASON FOR THE AGES: Chris Paul is having a great season thus far, but as ESPN.com s John Hollinger points out, it may be one for the ages check out the chart below that measures CP s PER (Player Efficiency Rating) against other players, 6-3 or shorter of the players 6-3 or shorter who have been in the league since the NBA began tracking individual turnovers in , none has posted a PER that tops Paul's so far this season only one had cleared 26 (Allen Iverson two years ago), and only three had cleared 24.
