5 BIGGEST TURNAROUND IN THE NBA: Below is a list of the biggest turnarounds in the NBA from the past two seasons. # of Games Improved Team Season Season +20 NO/Okla. City Hornets Utah Jazz Atlanta Hawks Los Angeles Lakers Detroit Pistons Los Angeles Clippers Milwaukee Bucks RECORD SETTING YEAR OR CP3: rookie of the year Chris Paul blazed onto the NBA scene last season Paul set his share of records along the way during the season below are a few of the records and marks he set. CP3 led the NBA in total steals, making him the second rookie in NBA history to lead the NBA in total steals Brevin Knight accomplished the feat in Chris Paul has captured the Western Conference Rookie of the Month award each month this season if he is named the April award winner, it will mark the fifth time in NBA history a player has captured the award in every month of his rookie season Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James ( ), Tim Duncan ( ) and David Robinson ( ) won the award every month. Chris Paul set Hornets rookie records for: -Most Assists in a season and game. -Highest ree Throw Percentage for a season. -Most ree Throws made and attempted in a game. -Most Steals in a season and game. Paul scored 24 points with 12 rebounds and 12 assists 4/2 at TOR, to become the first rookie with triple-12s since Jay Williams did it for the Bulls in 2002 the only other active players to have done so as rookies were Steve rancis, Antoine Walker, and Chris Webber also became the first Hornet rookie to record a triple-double. irst rookie to record at least 13 assists in three straight games (2/1 vs. CHI, 2/4 vs. LAL, 2/6 at NJN) since Jason Kidd (1994). Chris Paul recorded 21 games of 10+ assists this season over the last 10 years, the only other rookies with at least 20 games of 10 or more assists were Brevin Knight (26 in ) and Jamaal Tinsley (21 in ). Chris Paul had 17 points, 11 rebounds, 16 assists and six steals in the Hornets' overtime victory 4/5 vs. GSW since , when the NBA began keeping track of steals, only one other player reached those levels in each of those four categories in the same game, that was Magic Johnson he also needed overtime to do it (33 points, 15 rebounds, 17 assists and six steals vs. Denver on March 29, 1981). CP3 HAD ONE O THE BEST ROOKIE SEASONS IN HISTORY: Most NBA fans and insiders knew that Chris Paul was a lock for rookie of the year and that he had a great rookie season but most don t know just how remarkable it was Paul s Player Efficiency Rating (PER) was an astonishing the PER is a rating that assigns various values to different statistics accumulated by players on a per-minute basis, and is regarded by most experts as the most accurate statistical estimate of a player s performance PER was tracked starting in the season, when the NBA first kept track of turnovers below is a chart that shows you how remarkable of a first NBA season CP is having since the start of the decade, only three players Elton Brand (20.63), Yao Ming (20.59) and Marquis Daniels (20.10) have posted PER s north of 20.0 only one 20-year old in NBA history has a better PER than CP, his name is LeBron James, who had a PER last season another startling number is how many rookie point guards dating back to have had a PER better than CP3: none Magic Johnson is the only PG to have a PER better than 20.0 (20.63). Paul's rookie season stacks up well when compared with those of other rookie guards in NBA history very well shockingly well let's cut right to the chase here's a complete list of every guard in NBA history to post a better rookie PER than Paul's: 1. Oscar Robertson 2. Michael Jordan Yes, that is the whole list. MJ and the Big O. In terms of PER, Paul is the best rookie guard in two decades and the best rookie point guard in 45 years.
