The Bulldogs have won eight straight in the series, including a decision Jan. 20 in Chicago. Butler is 8-1 against the Blue Demons since the Bulldogs joined the BIG EAST prior to the season. The series dates back to the season. Two of the match-ups came with DePaul ranked in the top five nationally as the #1 Blue Demons won in and the #3 Blue Demons won during the season. TWEETS YOU CAN PASS OFF AS YOUR OWN Beginning Saturday with DePaul, five of Butler s next six games are at home. Butler is 11-1 this season at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Tyler Wideman had a career-high 23 points on 8-of-9 shooting Wednesday at Marquette. Wideman leads the BIG EAST in field goal percentage at.694. Kelan Martin s scoring average of 21.5 points per game in BIG EAST play is second in the conference. Kamar Baldwin (19.6) is fifth. In the last three meetings with DePaul, Martin is averaging 16.7ppg, while Baldwin averages 14.0ppg against the Blue Demons. KenPom considers Butler s schedule to date to be the tenth-toughest among the nation s 351 teams. St. John s guard Shamorie Ponds (19.7ppg) and Marquette guard Andrew Rowsey (19.5ppg) have been limited to a combined two points in their most recent match-ups with -- 1

2 COMING IN HOT: Butler enters Saturday s match-up with DePaul on a three-game winning streak. The Bulldogs have climbed to 6-4 in BIG EAST play, which is fifth in the conference standings. HOMECOMING: Five of Butler s next six games are at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The stretch will conclude the home portion of the regular season schedule. Butler opened BIG EAST play with six of 10 games on the road. Following this 5-of-6 at home stretch, the Bulldogs will finish the BIG EAST schedule with games at St. John s Feb. 28 and at Seton Hall March 3. GETTING DEFENSIVE: Butler limited Marquette to 72 points (10 below the Golden Eagles season average) and five threepointers (less than the team s 11.3 per game average) in Wednesday night s win in Milwaukee. Andrew Rowsey, who entered the contest averaging 20.5 points per game, was held scoreless on only six attempts. That performance came one game after Butler s defense limited St. John s guard Shamorie Ponds to two points on 0-for- 12 shooting. He entered the contest averaging 20.0 points per game. RECENT-D GOOD: Over the past four games, Butler s defense has limited opponents to an average of only 63.5 points per game. The 72 points scored by Marquette is actually the high for a Butler opponent during that four-game stretch. Butler s first six BIG EAST opponents each scored at least 83 points. DOES THIS GUY EVER MISS?: Senior Tyler Wideman had a career-high 23 points in Wednesday s win at Marquette. He made eight of his nine attempts from the field (collecting an offensive rebound and putback on his only miss of the night), and made all seven of his free throw attempts. It marked the second 20-point game of Wideman s career, bettering his previous career-high of 20 points at St. John s Dec. 29, Wideman leads the BIG EAST in field goal percentage in both all games (.694) and in conference play (.706). Butler s singleseason field goal percentage record (min. 100 attempts) belongs to Duane Lightfoot, who posted a.657 mark in FINDING YOUR BALANCE: Five Bulldogs scored in double figures Wednesday, led by Wideman s 23 points. He was joined by Kelan Martin (16), Kamar Baldwin (15), Sean McDermott (13), and Aaron Thompson (11). It was Butler s first game with five players in double figures since the team s win over Western Illinois Dec. 21 in the team s last non-conference outing. GET HOT, STAY HOT: Butler matched a season-high by shooting 60 percent Wednesday at Marquette. The Bulldogs also shot 60 percent in beating No. 1 Villanova, , Dec. 30. Against Marquette, Butler opened the game by making 15 of its first 23 attempts. At that point in the game, Butler had just concluded a 19-4 run that gave the Bulldogs a lead. Butler made eight of its 14 attempts from behind the arc (57 percent), also the first time above 50 percent from three-point range since Villanova. FIRST TIME AROUND: Kelan Martin led the Bulldogs with 24 points in the team s win on the road at DePaul Jan. 20. Butler s defense limited the Blue Demons to 35-percent shooting. In the opening 20 minutes, Butler shot 60 percent (compared to only 28 percent for the Blue Demons) in taking a halftime lead. The Bulldogs lead always remained in double figures and the team utilized a 21-of-25 afternoon at the free throw line to secure the win. In conference games, Baldwin ranks fifth in scoring (19.6), seventh in rebounding (6.6), 12th in assists (3.5), and 13th in both field goal percentage (.481) and three-point percentage (.405). ALL YOUR FAVORITE 90s HITS: Butler put 92 points on the scoreboard Wednesday night at Marquette. It marked the Bulldogs sixth time this season scoring 90 or more points. Butler has reached the figure in four of the team s 10 BIG EAST contests. DOUBLE DIGITS: Redshirt sophomore Sean McDermott came off the bench for 13 points in the win over Marquette. He made all three of his three-point attempts to go along with a 4-of-4 performance from the free throw line. It was McDermott s sixth double-figure scoring performance of the season (and his career), and his first since the win over Villanova Dec. 30. McDermott s.426 mark from three-point range is second on the team. His 26 made three-pointers (he missed four games earlier in the season) rank fourth on the roster. ON THE BOARDS: Butler out-rebounded Marquette, 32-22, in Wednesday s win. The Bulldogs are now 12-3 on the season when pulling down more boards than their opponent. Tyler Wideman had nine rebounds Wednesday, one game after posting a career-best 11 in the win over St. John s Jan. 27. GO LOW: In the Jan. 27 win over St. John s, Butler s defense limited the Red Storm to only 45 points, including 15 in the first half. The 45 points match the season-best total that Butler allowed to Saint Louis in a win Dec. 2. The 45 points allowed are the fewest by a Butler opponent during the Bulldogs tenure in the BIG EAST. More information can be found on Facebook at the Prayers for Sethy Boy page. TREMENDOUS ASSIST: Chase Stigall, who was part of both Final Four runs as a Butler Bulldog, joined the Be The Match bone marrow registry in honor of his late teammate Andrew Smith. Stigall was a match for a young boy named Deegan Smith. The team went 4-0, playing professional teams in Madrid, Albacete, Valencia, and Barcelona, from August The team flew to Spain on coach LaVall Jordan s 50th day as Butler s head coach. The Bulldogs did extensive sight-seeing throughout Spain, literally only touching a basketball during the four games. SOPHOMORE TO REDSHIRT FRESHMAN: The NCAA has granted Butler University s waiver application on behalf of Joey Brunk to have the season count as a redshirt season for the 6-11 forward/center. Brunk appeared in only seven games during the season, and did not play in a game after Dec. 10, 2016 as he spent time with his ailing father and his family. Butler has three wins over a team ranked No. 1 since the beginning of the season. That includes two wins over Villanova in 2017 and a 2012 Crossroads Classic victory over Indiana. Butler s 101 points were the first time that Villanova had given up 100 points since a 2014 loss to Creighton and Doug McDermott. Butler is the first team to score 100 points in a win over a No. 1-ranked team since UMass defeated Arkansas in 1994 (according to ESPN).
