Go Confidently In the Direction of Your Dreams Live The Life You ve Imagined Congratulations to Cora Cannedy, the 2018 Albuquerque Journal Prep Athlete of the year. Cora competed in soccer, cross-country, track and field. She placed first in the 1,600 and 3,200 meter run at the Class 4A State Track and Field Championship. Cora was also the Taos High School Salutatorian and will be attending Cornell University this fall. Dear 4-Hers, Parents and Leaders As we come to the closing of another great 4-H year, the staff at the Taos County Cooperative Extension Office would like to Thank everyone who helped make this 4-H year a great year. We would like to congratulate all the 4-Hers that participated in this past 4-H year and look forward to you enrolling in the H year. The 4-H program would not have been a success without the assistance of our volunteer leaders. Call Out for 4-H Pictures!! If you have pictures of 4-H events from this past year, please share them with us. The pictures are shared in the record book workshop, used to help promote the 4-H program, and the end of the year slide-show. Please contact or drop off photos at the Extension Office. We would greatly appreciate it. 4-H Council Meeting - Election of Officers November 8, 6:00pm. Juan I. Gonzales Memorial Taos County Ag. Center If you are interested in running for a position on the Taos County 4-H Council please confirm with Monica by Tuesday, Nov. 6 what officer role you intend to run for. Each Club is required to send two voting delegates to the council meetings, although everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend the meetings. CONFIRM by 5:00pm, Wed., Nov. 7 th with the Extension Office if you will be attending and how many you are confirming for. Dinner will be provided QUALIFICATIONS: You must have been enrolled during the H year and in good standings and you must be currently enrolled in the Taos County 4-H program prior to elections. 1. The office of President will be held by a Senior 4-H member. 2. The office of Vice-President will be held by a Senior or Junior 4-H member. 3. The office of Secretary will be held by a Senior or Junior 4-H member. 4. The office of Treasure will be held by a Senior or Junior 4-H member. 5. The office of Reporter will be held by a Senior, Junior or Novice 4-H member. 6. The office of Historian will be held by a Senior, Junior or Novice 4-H member. 7. The office of Song & Recreational Leader will be held by a Senior, Junior, or Novice 4-H member. No more than two (2) members from the same club may hold a council office during the same year with the exception of the Song & Recreational Team. All officers must attend at least 50% of the 4-H council meetings and sponsored events. Two (2) voting delegates from each club will be allowed to vote. Cloverbuds are not allowed to vote or serve as an officer. In order to receive a completion pin for the H year, you must turn in a completed record book. If you were unable to attend the two record book workshops that were on Oct. 9 th & 15 th and need assistance contact Monica at the Extension Office. The H year - enrollment information: The enrollment forms can either be picked up at the Extension Office, from your club leader or download them from: The deadline date for All Enrollment forms to be turned in (new and re-enrolling) is March 1, 2019!If you miss the enrollment deadline date, you will not be allowed to enroll until the following 4-H year that will start October 1, Some projects have an earlier deadline, check with the Extension Office. Make sure you READ AND FILL-OUT the forms completely including the required signatures from the member, the parent/guardian and leader. Forms that are turned in incomplete will be returned to you and you will not be considered enrolled until the forms are complete. 4-H adult volunteer leaders who have been enrolled as a volunteer leader for the past 4 years or more will need to renew the 4-H Volunteer Leader Screening and Disclosure application. The application fee is $5.00 per applicant and is payable to the Taos County 4-H Council. You will be notified by the State 4-H Office of your acceptance status. If you know of someone who would like to join 4-H or an adult that would like to become an adult volunteer leader, have them contact Monica at the Extension Office, , for the proper forms. 4-H Member Age Chart for H Year CLOVERBUDS: 5 to 8 years old AND in Kindergarten, 1st or 2nd grade NOVICE: 9 to 11 years old or 8 years old AND in the 3rd grade. JUNIOR: 12 and 13 years old or 11 years old AND in 6th grade. SENIOR: 14 to 18 years old OR 13 years old AND in 8th grade. Youth who are 19 on or before December 31, 2017, are NOT eligible to enroll as a 4-H member. We welcome you to enroll as a volunteer leader! REQUIREMENTS FOR CLOVERBUDS (Policies & Procedures Handbook, pages 3-4) Cloverbuds: It is neither the intent nor the objective of the 4-H Cloverbuds program to duplicate the 4-H member experiences that are designed for older youth, nor to create a mini-4-h concept. While the 4-H Cloverbuds program is a component of the overall 4-H Youth Development program and 4-H Cloverbuds members are recognized as 4-H members for the purposes of enrollment, they are considered to be in a special membership category with regard to program and policy. As a result, the 4-H Cloverbuds program is fundamentally different than general membership in 4-H.

4 2019 NM 4-H Shooting Sports Leader Certification When: February 22-24, 2019 Where: Tucumcari, NM Registration fee: $70/person Registration deadline: December 1 st We will offer training in shotgun, rifle, pistol, hunting, archery, muzzleloading, and coordinators. The policy for maintaining certification, according to our policies and procedures, is as follows: 5. Maintaining State 4-H Shooting Sports Certification a. To maintain certification an instructor/leader must be active two out of three consecutive years. If inactive for two consecutive years, re-certification is required. More information on the training will be forward on to you as it becomes available. THANK YOU LETTERS!!! For those of you who awarded a buckle, sold and received an add-on at the 2018 Taos County Fair Jr. Livestock Show/Auction turn your letters in as soon as possible. A second notice was mailed out to those of you who have not turned in your letters. Once you have finished writing your Thank You letters bring them to the Extension Office along with the envel opes addressed and stamped. We will make a copy of them for the Taos County Fair Board Association records and we will mail them for you. Don t hesitate on getting these letters done and turned in. It doesn t look good to the buyers and sponsors when they receive a letter a few months after the fair. Checks will be issued when All buyers have paid and EVERYONE has turned in their Thank You letters. Once the checks are ready, you will be notified to pick them up from the Extension Office. The checks will only be valid for 90 days from the date they are written. Any checks that have to be reissued after the 90 days validation the Taos County Fair Board Association will assess a service charge. If you have any questions contact BJ Rosales, Taos County Fair Board President, or the Extension Office at Save the Dater: Senior Leadership Retreat 2019 When: January 18-20, 2019 Where: Albuquerque, NM During the event youth have the opportunity to attend workshops on personal development, team work, leadership, conquering fears, motivation, personalities and much more. In the evening the delegates will be challenged to show how they have mastered their dance skills. We look forward to seeing you there!
