Bargain Early Registration of $40 Register by Oct 5 4-H LEADERS & PARENTS FORUM 4-H Exploring Our Past While Building Our Future The annual statewide educational and fun event designed for adults working with the New Mexico 4-H Youth Development Program in Grants, NM. The Planning committee has done a fantastic job putting together a program that will be worth the time to attend! Please consider participating in this year s 4-H Adult Forum where you will meet other adults involved in 4- H; hear a motivational speaker; participate in workshops, a community service project, Make and Take activities, silent auction and more! Come for a full day of fun, networking and education. Registration includes the workshops, speaker, special activities, lunch and breaks. We are challenging each club to make posters for 4-H Week and display them at your schools (with permission). Be creative to invite new members & increase 4-H awareness!

The SANDOVAL COUNTY 4-H Year Began October st Leaders/Members You MUST Enroll Online Unless you have submitted a hard copy, signed Medical Release/Liability/ Code of Conduct Form, you will NOT be considered enrolled in the Sandoval County 4-H. A copy of this form is attached to this Newsletter ( Pages) March, 09 is the enrollment DEADLINE for Sandoval County. If you have friends that are not in 4-H, invite them to your next club meeting! AGES FOR 4-H MEMBERSHIP CLOVERBUD: Ages 5 to 8 NOVICE: Age 9-. A 4-H member must have passed his/her 9th birthday or be 8 years old or in the rd grade, but not have passed his/her th birthday prior to January of the current 4-H year. JUNIOR: Ages -. A 4-H member must have passed his/her th birthday or be years old and in the 6th grade, but not have passed his/her 4th birthday prior to January of the current 4-H year. SENIOR: Ages 4-9. A 4-H member must have passed his/her 4th birthday or be years old and in the 8th grade but not have passed his/her 9th birthday prior to January of the current 4-H year. Make sure you List your Projects! Call the Extension office if you have any questions on enrollment. When you (re)enroll, 4-H Online will notify you that you need to go through a background check prior to approval. Disclosure Forms are available online. Cost is $5 payable to the State 4-H Office. 9 NEW MEXICO 4-H SHOOTING SPORTS LEADER CERTIFICATION The next training in will be held in Tucumcari, NM on February -4. The on-line registration will open December st and will remain open until January 5th with a cost of $ The registration is on the 4-H online program and completed by Steve & Nicole so Leaders will need to be approved and in the system prior to registration. Registration is not complete until online enrollment and the proper paperwork (medical release and code of conduct) and registration payment is received are documents are complete. The policy for maintaining certification, according to our policies and procedures, is as follows: II. New Mexico 4-H Shooting Sports Minimum Standards 6. To maintain certification as a 4-H shooting sports Level I or Level II instructor, one must be active two out of three consecutive years. If inactive for two consecutive years, re-certification is required. It is suggested that certified instructors attend a training workshop every - 5 years. SLR 09 Leadership Retreat 09 is not far away and with that comes Leadership Retreat! The event is going to take place at the Hyatt Regency in Albuquerque on January 8-0, 09. The event is a threeday, two-night event filled with great workshops and amazing opportunities. During the weekend, youth will be involved in hands-on activities while learning about career opportunities, leadership skills, community service, and much more! There will also be time for them to cut a rug and show off their dancing skills! The 08 Ambassadors and Diplomats are excited about putting on this event for all who attend! Contact your County Extension Office for the registration deadline. 10 SANDOVAL COUNTY 4-H SCHOLARSHIP Sponsored by Sandoval County 4-H Council Scholarship Information A Scholarship fund has been established by the 4-H County Council to provide financial assistance to 4-H members that wish to attend State, District, or County 4-H events. Scholarship will cover 50% of the registration expenses for Leadership Retreat, Youth-Get-Away, Livestock School, Horse School, Home Ec School, 4-H Dog School, or $50 of the team fees for serving as a State 4-H Officer, Ambassador, or a Diplomat. The scholarship will cover 00% of the registration expenses for 4-H County Camp. The funding may not be used to attend State 4-H Conference, State 4-H Shooting Sports Contest, nor District Contest. Scholarship Criteria Available to any, Junior or 4-H Member. For Application, Link to: 4-H member must submit a Sandoval County 4-H Scholarship application Form. Scholarship Applications for the events are due one month before the event registration deadline.
