President Megan Frerich called meeting to order. Tracy Tannehill called roll and lead icebreaker. Dax led the Pledge of Allegiance, Anthony led the motto, Kiersten led the pledge and Parker led the prayer. Mason gave the treasurer s report. New business, members discussed car wash fundraiser for April 28. Voted to give each graduating senior a $100 gift. Megan and Parker presented a recordbook workshop. Connie Seago gave Sinton Booster club updates. Staci Frerich reminded everyone of upcoming recordbook, county awards and ambassador deadline of June 7. Megan presented a workshop about sheep and judging wool and Parker presented a workshop on showing poultry and then he served chicken sandwiches raised from his own show chickens. Next meeting May 8. Members made posters for car wash and meeting adjourned. Clover T Emily Mutchler Clover T meeting was held on April 8, 2018 at 7:20pm at the Taft Lutheran Church. The club recited the Pledge of Allegiance, 4-H Pledge, 4-H Motto, and 4-H Prayer. Andrea Rowe read an inspirational quote. Abigail Kennedy called roll and read the minutes. Bryce Mann discussed the details of the May meeting / end of year party. We discussed ideas for May community service and voted. The meeting was adjourned. Texas 4-H Horse Validation The 2017 Texas 4-H Horse late Validation Process will end on May 1, 2018 on 4-H Connect and the cost increases to $20 per horse. All horses must be validated or revalidated with payment each year, to be eligible to show at District and State 4-H Horse Shows. For those horses validated last year on 4-H Connect, you will need to re-activate and pay for validation. New horses you will need to provide photos of each side, and front as well as a pdf copy of registration papers (if registered). Age Divisions will be used for Judged Western, Speed, and Stockhorse Division. Age Divisions will be based on grade level. Junior/Intermediate will be 3rd to 8th grade. Senior will be 9th to 12th grade 4-H members will be allowed to show multiple horses in any division, including all qualifying divisions. However, only one horse may be shown per class as per current rules. All horses still must be properly validated by the normal procedures & deadlines. 3 PAGE H AWARD OPPORTUNITIES Deadline: June 7, 2018 Gold Star: Highest award a 4-H er can receive at the County Level. The purpose of the achievement is to recognize outstanding leadership & contribution to the County 4-H program. Silver Star: Equivalent to the Gold Star but will be awarded to an intermediate aged 4-H member. Bronze Star: Equivalent to Gold & Silver Star but will be awarded to a Junior aged 4-H member. Other Awards: Rookie Award, I Dare You Award, County Medals, Incentive Awards, General Trophies, Specific Trophies & Open Category Trophy. Students will attend mini lectures taught by Texas A&M University staff on topics such as anatomy, embryology, immunology, nutrition & processing. Who is Eligible: Students who have an interest in poultry & will be enrolled in the Fall 2018 semester as a high school junior, senior, or college freshman are eligible to apply to attend the Poultry Institute for Youth. 5 District 11 4-H Leadership Lab June 20-22, 2018 McKinney Roughs Nature Park - Cedar Creek, TX PAGE 5 Entry / Registration: April 30 - June 1, 2018 through 4-H Connect Fee: $200 - Youth Ages 13 through 17 as of June 1, Theme: Wild About D11 New for 2018: District Council officers have voted to assign dorms by color groups not by county to encourage networking amongst other counties. What to Bring: Pillow, sheets, towels, washcloths, shower shoes, and any personal items needed. Bring a light blanket, as well as a light jacket or sweater, as the classrooms and dorms may be cool. Bring clothes & shoes for active sports, swim suits (no two piece swimsuits), water shoes, outdoor recreation & nightly dances. Bring tennis shoes, boots, or some other closed toe shoes. Due to center regulations, No flip flops may be worn during dances. A Sunday outfit is needed for Banquet. You may bring snacks, however, they must be kept secure to prevent ants & rodents. Do Not Bring: Valuable electronic equipment, water guns, water sling shots, shaving cream (except for personal use). If any 4-H member is caught with these materials, disciplinary action will be taken. 6 PAGE 6 Texas Farm Bureau Youth Leadership Conference June 11-15, 2018 Tarleton State University Stephenville, Texas Application Guidelines Students that are in the top 10% of their class and will be entering either the 11th or 12th grade in August, Students should be of good character with a desire to enhance their leadership abilities. Students do not have to be Farm Bureau member to attend, but must become one to be eligible to enter the Free Enterprise Speech Contest. Play an important part in educating others in your community & state on the importance of water to the State of Texas. Explore a wide diversity of career opportunities in the water industry & beyond. Meet & interact with water industry professionals and gain access to a myriad of water education tools and resources. 10 Helpful Links: Texas 4-H Website Register for 4-H San Patricio County Website District 11 PAGE 10 To be eligible to compete in the A&H Show in any division, (including Homemaking) you must attend at least 60% of club meetings. Attendance for the 2019 Show starts in January, You must also meet UIL academic eligibility requirements by passing all of your classes. Start out the 4-H year right by attending club meetings and keeping your grades up! New 4-H members must also attend 60% of their club meeting, however, their club attendance begins on Sept. 1, Only new 4-H members will be allowed to count January 2019 attendance. If your address changes, PLEASE correct it on 4-H Connect: Reminder: If your animal loses its validation tag, call the Extension Office ASAP with the tag number so that a replacement can be ordered. The address needs to be corrected on the family profile AND in each individual s profile. The labels for the newsletter and other miscellaneous mailings are generated by the information entered by you or your family. Don t risk missing out on the monthly 4-H newsletter or other important mailings! ADULT VOLUNTEER BACKGROUND CHECK To protect our 4-H members, the Texas 4-H Program administers an adult screening program. This screening is conducted every 3 years. All adults who will be working directly with youth (other than their own children) must complete the adult registration form on 4-H Connect to be screened. Once their registration has been approved from the State office, then we can certify those adults as San Patricio County volunteers. Only those adults who have been screened and cleared through YPS will have the privilege of working with 4-H members. There is a $5 annual fee for each adult who will be a Volunteer. This fee is paid on 4-H Connect.
