1 UAXC The Quest for the State Championship Four-peat & Sixth in Seven Years! No other UA sport can make all of these claims: twelve straight varsity district titles (varsity has not lost a single competition against district foes!) ten straight JV district titles five state titles of the last six years, and the last three in a row We are the most accepting/supportive/least academically-obtrusive sport on campus! Most of our coaches are teachers! Our athletes miss fewer classes than any other sport, and our sport has been scientifically proven to improve cognitive function and increase lifespan; smart people run cross country and running cross country makes one smarter and live longer! Everyone that is cleared to participate makes the team! That s right this is a NO CUT SPORT : ) We had 69 girls this past season, 59 girls in 16, 65 girls in 15, and 55 girls in 14! Cross Country only conflicts w/volleyball, cheerleading, and Rangerettes. You can swim, play basketball, soccer, softball, or lacrosse after our season concludes. No experience is necessary, and freshmen routinely make the varsity team! Log workouts using the free app, Strava, and joining the group UAXC Running Bears, giving distance, time, and comments for each run. Follow Jonathan Moody on Strava to get invited to join the online running group. Spring practices: For students not running UA track & field, three weekly after school practices will be highly encouraged throughout the entire spring semester. Practices will be held every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday that a full day of school is held, and practices will be 4:15-5:45PM at UA. Occasional Saturday runs will be scheduled, either at the Flower Mound trails around Lake Grapevine, at White Rock Lake, or selected area road races. Incoming freshmen (current eighth graders) are welcome to attend any spring or summer runs. Summer practices will be a combination of coach-led (20+ morning practices) and student-led practices starting June 4 th. Summer school attendees will have the option of showering in the UA locker rooms before class. Schedules will be sent out electronically throughout the summer. athletic department paperwork must be on file online with Magnus by 7/1 (no paper forms accepted)
