1 Commodore: Peter Bulka Website: Secretary No Sail Training or Racing This Labour Long Weekend 2015/2016 Sailing Calendar This Sunday 13 th March is not a Club Sailing Day! We will not be running Sail Training in the morning or conducting OTB Club Racing in the afternoon and there will not be a Keelboat Race. Everyone take a well deserved break & attend to the weeds in the garden or visit a lonely relative! You know do the things non-sailing people do! Well! You can t stop the Sabre s No body can stop the Sabre s Calling all Sabre Owners/Sailors! Thanks to Rick Potter we will be receiving a special Sabre dedicated training session to refine our skills and knowledge of racing in a Sabre. Remember last year, we very luckily received this class specific assistance from Rick & Bill and every one of the Sabre s stepped up in their racing abilities! Whilst there is no sailing training or racing this Sunday because of the long weekend come & take advantage of this extra help at 11am. In the 2015/16 season SBSC can boast the registration of 20 Sabres all of whom are very frequent races / sailors however we also have 4 members that do not own a sabre, however are/want to be frequent sailors. Please if any of our 20 members with Sabres cannot make it for the training, please would you consider allowing one of these 4 members to utilise your Sabre? If this is possible please contact Louise on Secretary@sbsc.net.au. However the Club would like to stop and say thank you to everyone this year that has done & will still be doing a share of the rostered duty. Without you performing these tasks the club sailing could not function & therefore the club would cease to function, so thank you to everyone for getting on with it so well! We all know that the rostered duty has to be done every week by someone however it was noticed this week, that even the junior members are performing outstanding jobs supporting the sail boats from rescue boats: This week Charlie did an outstanding job covering sail training from the Ducky and Anton performed brilliantly from the Sutherland during the afternoon race. Last week Jackson supported the race and last month Kesar did duty during the race with the enormous waves. All boys are 12 & 13yo and are proving to be true assets to the club, thank you boys and to everyone doing their rostered duty.

Race 9 Is being held Friday 11 th March, pursuit start at 17:30H. Start Sheet is attached. PLEASE NOTE THE EARLIER START TIME ON DUTY: Roy Aldrich and the Duty Boat is Renaissance Two crew members are required to assist and will need to arrive at the club at around 16:45 HIDDEN HARBOUR CLUB CHAMP. LABOUR DAY WEEKEND CRUISE Saturday 12th - Monday 14th March. We are looking to head over to Queenscliff for the weekend and relax and enjoy some of the local sites. The Queenscliff Marina are again happy to host us however, we shall need to provide numbers of boats intending to cruise so as they can make preparation for us. Katie is looking forward to travelling to South America after her Uni course finishes in May to check out the kiting in Brazil.

3 Katie Potter has done it again! SBSC Is Very Proud of You! Congratulations to SBSC member Katie Potter for taking out the Nationals Women's title in Kiteboarding in Queensland last month. Katie is looking forward to travelling to South America after her Uni course finishes in May to check out the kiting in Brazil. The winners of the National Kite Boarding League (NKL) state events were invited to the finals in Queensland and Katie won the day against quality opposition from around the country. 4 SBSC Keel Boat Racing Junior & Parent Crew Night Last Friday Night Thank you to all the SBSC Keel Boats, Junior Members & their Parents for making this annual event so fantastic for everyone. The new layout proved to be very successful with making it available to all junior sailing members & their Parents to crew on a Keel Boat for a race last Friday night. Some Keel Boats may even have snatched up a new regular crew member or two! Afterwards the club was hoping, the dinner room of bursting with families and keelboat skippers & crew. The live music brilliant and the dinners were very special. It really was a great Family Night at the Club for everyone.

5 2016 Victorian Minnow Champs Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club SBSC s tinny fleet of Minnow Sailors competed very well at last weekend s State Titles at SSCBC. They were very hard to spot out amounts the throngs of BYS & McYC sailors, but they held their own and did SBSC very proud. Congratulations to you all for competing so well & getting great results! One of our Marquise events is coming up soon at SBSC The St. Patrick s Day Celebrations which promises yet again to be a great night. This year we have made it all very easy and streamlined. All bookings are through the online try booking system. Either of these links will take you directly to the booking page. OR Grab a Credit card and computer / Ipad / or smart phone and follow these simple steps; Attached is the flyer for St. Pats night at the club we have kept prices the same again this year. This year with this system guests can pay individually or one person can book a table of 10 etc. (max. on a table) but for each attendee (guest) the following details will be required to be submitted: (1) Name (2) address (3) Contact number (4) Any dietary requirements (list NO if NONE apply) (5) If you are with a particular group or table (name the group /table) Then we will know to reserve a table for them as a group. (list NONE if you are not with a particular group or table and just an individual or couple) It is basically a case of first in best dressed in terms of booking, as we have had to limit numbers this year due to its popularity it s always a sell-out. So get in early is my advice if you really want to come. Once again we ll be serving a 3 course meal again and have organised a NEW Irish band called The Wake, along with a solo artist and of course we will still have our troop of traditional Irish dancers which has become a highlight. So lots of fun to be had!! Again come dressed in your best green outfits there will be prizes!!
