7 By Eric Bjella Ocean Shores Wearable Art Show is Looking for Artists! The Ocean Shores Wearable Art Show is gearing up for their 8 th crazy runway show! While I m a bit biased, I think this show has become a local favorite among the many great events happening in Ocean Shores. But it can t happen without you! While the Show won t be held until June 1, those that would like to enter a design in the show are encouraged to submit an Entry Form as soon as possible. Space is limited and artists from all over the state have indicated that they would like to participate. You may download your Entry Form from the Ocean Shores Wearable Art Show website: A few changes have been made this past year that should make the show sustainable and give it even greater meaning to our community. Not to worry, the show will continue in its same format and venue location. Show producers, Eric Bjella and Tricia Funk, have always intended that the show, once it proved its value, be used as a fundraiser to benefit a local non-profit willing to take on the production responsibilities. Stage West Community Theatre (SWCT)has been a non-profit community theatre producing plays in Ocean Shores for nearly 10 years. Members of the theatre have supported the Wearable Art Show since its inception and the SWCT Board has agreed to take on the role of Producer. Eric and Tricia will continue their roles as Artistic Directors but the partnership with SWCT will allow the Show to expand its outreach to artists and utilize an online ticket sales service for greater convenience. As a 501c3 non-profit, SWCT will use the Show proceeds to support Theatre programs for youth and adults in the North Beach area. The theme for the 2019 Show is: Hidden Meaning and artists are encouraged but not required to create pieces along this theme.artists of all media are invited to create ensembles of functional and not so functional pieces of clothing and accessories to be presented in a one-of-a-kind runway fashion show held at the Ocean Shores Convention Center on June 1. Space in the show is limited so it is strongly recommended that artists submit their entry applications as soon as possible. All artists and models must be 14 years of age or older. Artists may model their own piece or may choose to provide a model for their creation. This show is intended to create opportunities for artists and designers to explore artistic expression in a fun, safe and encouraging environment and then provide them a unique way to display their work. The entries are not judged so artists and models are free to express themselves and share design ideas and creative techniques. Entry forms, contact information, photos, video clips and other information about the Ocean Shores Wearable Art Show can be found at Or, contact the OS Wearable Art Show through its Facebook page or through Stage West Community Theatre.
8 Stage West Community Theatre is proud to be a new member of AAOS. We are working on Alice in Wonderland. Based on Lewis Carroll s classic fantasies, we follow Alice through many wondrous, often bizarre adventures with thoroughly illogical and very strange creatures. Directed by Jay Dalton and assisted by Rich Smith, the cast features several veteran actors and introduces some amazing young performers new to the stage. Performances will be May 3, 4, 5,10,11, and 12 at the Lions Club.

As usual, we will have an AAOS booth at the Razor Clam Festival. We would like to have 2 volunteers for each 2-hour time slot as it can get busy at times. 14 Display Your Art at the Grey Gull Resort and the Chamber of Commerce AAOS has an agreement to display member art in the lobby of the Grey Gull Resort. All art must be for sale and fully labeled with artist contact information. The current exhibit is ready to be refreshed and we will be focusing each exhibit on a small number of artists. So, if you are interested in participating, please contact me and we can schedule you for the next exhibit rotation. Please make all arrangements through me so the Grey Gull does not have to be responsible for any art work going missing. Your art must be ready to hang on wire hangers, no sawtooth please. There is also an AAOS disclaimer form that we need each displaying artist to sign. There is also an opportunity to display your art at the Chamber of Commerce office. If you are interested in either of these opportunities, please contact me to coordinate with each location and manage the changes of the exhibits. Please contact me for further information.
