Thank you for your support of the association in Our association leadership team for 2013 includes returning executives Suk Bedi as Treasurer and Carolyn Campbell as Secretary. We thank them for their dedication and continued service on the association executive. Karin Nowak and Nancy Mann have already lined up our lifeguarding team for the 2013 season and are busy preparing for pool opening on the May 24 th holiday weekend (as always, weather permitting). We re grateful for their many contributions to our very successful pool seasons. Andy McMurdo will be running tennis again this season on UBII newly renovated courts in addition to managing the membership list and collecting cheques. A big thank you to Andy for a great tennis season last year as we look forward to a full season on the brand new courts. We are looking forward to having Brenda Ross lead UBII s social activities this year. Watch for more exciting announcements on the web site and by . Our sincere thanks go out to Arlene Jones for her many years of running UBII s fun and entertaining social events. We d also like to thank our street reps who diligently distribute our newsletters and collect the fees for each up -coming season. Thank you to all the members who participated in the AGM on February 13 th in person and by proxy. The membership voted in favour of all the by-law changes, the 2013 fees and the new policy on membership. Please see below for more information on the membership policy. In response to member feedback, this year we will be implementing a wrist band policy to help ensure only members, associates and their guests are using the pool, tennis courts and basketball courts. Please check in with the lifeguards and pick up your wristbands on your first pool visit. If you would like to get involved in the association, feel free to contact either one of us. 3 POOL STAFF MANAGERS - Nicole Ingram and Mike Vernon HEAD GUARDS - Steven Parker and Laura Castellani INSTRUCTOR/GUARDS Sarah Strban, Kennedy Stevens, Jill Neavan PART-TIME INSTRUCTOR/GUARDS Liam Good, Michael Strban Early Summer Schedule (weather dependent) May Weekends May 18, 19, 20 12:00-8:00 May 25, 26 12:00-8:00 June Weekdays & Weekends Monday to Friday 4-8pm Saturday & Sunday 12-8pm UBII POOL RULES - please shower before entering the pool. - children age 7 and under MUST be accompanied by an adult while on UBII property. - children must be able to swim one length of the pool before being allowed in the deep end. - no pets, bikes, rollerblades, skateboards, scooters, or water guns allowed in the pool area. - diving is allowed only during lessons. - toys, balls and flotation devices are allowed in the pool if used safely. - no roughhousing or foul language. - food and drink must be confined to the grassy areas only. Nut Free please. - children under 41 or children wearing any type of flotation device MUST BE WITHIN ARMS REACH OF A PARENT IN THE WATER. - children who are not potty trained are REQUIRED to wear plastice pants under their suits. - children should not be in the guard office unless they need assistance from a lifeguard. - rafts are allowed only with the guards permission and only if there are fewer than 10 people in the pool. - when the air temperature drops below 18c, the pool will be closed to swimmers this does not apply to swimming lessons WHAT YOU CAN DO AT THE POOL Lane swim Fast, Medium or Leisure Aquafit classes Adult Lessons Parent & Tot newborns to age 3 with a parent or caregiver Tots 2 years old ready to swim without a parent Red Cross Lessons Offered - Levels: Pre-School Levels ages 3 5 Red Cross Swim Kids Levels ages 5 and up Patrol Levels focus on lifesaving skills for those who have completed levels 1-10 Bronze Star Bronze Medallion prep course Bronze Medallion and Cross

Please use common sense and courtesy in sharing our facilities.
