2018 NSW Community Sports Awards On Thursday evening 21 June at NSW Parliament House the above awards were presented to community members making a real difference in their chosen sports.

2 2018 NSW Community Sports Awards On Thursday evening 21 June at NSW Parliament House the above awards were presented to community members making a real difference in their chosen sports. The Hon Stuart Ayres, MP, Minister for Sport hosted the night and also presented the awards to the winners. Our very own Cherry Smith was amongst the nominees and it is my great pleasure to announce that Cherry won the award for Community Official of the Year. Cherry officiated at the 2017 Australian Short Course Swimming Championships, the 2018 Australian Swimming Championships and was the only Australian Swimming Referee at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Cherry was also the Mentor Official at the Short Course Championships, assisting and educating the other NSW Officials in attendance. She regularly travels to regional areas of NSW to assist in the educating and training of new Technical Officials. Congratulations Cherry on being awarded the 2018 Community Official of the Year. We are very proud of all your achievements and hope you continue to enjoy the road that your dream job is taking you on. End of Season DVD Anyone wishing to purchase a copy of the 2017/18 dvd please put your name on the sheet at the recording table. Each disc has a year s worth of photos plus presentation night. Cost is only $ Order yours today. Club Costumes We have a small stock of club costumes, so if you like the look of the Club costume you may be lucky enough to be able to buy one. Listed below are the sizes we have and the prices. Girls Costumes - $65.00 Sizes 8, 10 & 12 Boys Costumes - $42.00 Sizes 6, 8, 10 & 12 See Pat at the front desk if you would like to buy one of these costumes. Junior Dolphin Training Squad Just because it s winter that doesn t stop our training sessions. They will continue throughout winter season so come along and join in and see how your child improves. Training begins at 2.00pm, come along and register at the desk and join in. Cost for each swimmer is $3.00. Please see Kaitlin or Pat for further details. Fees for Winter Season Any swimmer who still has fees outstanding please finalise them today. Movie Afternoon The Incredibles 2 is out and we are taking our younger swimmers on Sunday July 1. Closer to the day we will have a definite session time, hoping somewhere around 2.00pm.

3 If you are interested in attending please put your name on the sheet at the front desk. Session time and costs will be worked out closer to the date. Lost Property Did anyone accidentally take home last week a towel that wasn t theirs. A colourful striped towel went missing last week. If you accidentally took this home by mistake please return it to Robin Ede so it can be returned to it s rightful owner. Club Website Our Club Website is always growing and constantly updated, you can find so much information at the touch of a button. Weekly results, newsletters, records, merchandise, health & safety info, carnival and social reports, committee members, news items, Club Rules and much much more. Go and have a look and see how much you can learn about your Club. Points to Remember - Parents are to be in attendance and supervise their children at all times. - Do not run around the pool, No bombing or diving into the shallow end - Ball games are not to be played inside the pool area - No child is to leave the pool unless accompanied by an adult - The baby pool is out of bounds during Club swimming - Abide by the warm up rules - Do not use the lane ropes as a ladder, do not sit or pull on the lane ropes - Encourage other swimmers, wish them luck and support them Technical Officials Swimming NSW have just released their 6 th online course. You can now receive training in Timekeeping, Marshal/Check Starting, Inspector of Turns, Judge of Strokes, Starter and Recorder. Check out the Swimming NSW website for further information. Please consider becoming a technical official, you never know where it may take you. Information can be found on our Website or speak to David or John. Outside Carnivals Please remember if your child is going to swim at an outside carnival you need to come and tell us so they can receive points and attendance for the swim. This only applies to carnivals that are held on a Saturday in place of normal Club swimming. If we are not told we will just assume your child is away for other reasons and points/attendance will not be allocated to your child. We need to be told at least the week prior to the swim. It is too late after the event. Change of Details If any member moves house, changes mobile number or address please let us know so we can update our records. Youth Leadership Camp 2018 - Nominate Now Nominations are now open for SNSW swimmers aged 11-15 years who wish to attend a 2018 Swimming NSW Lane Ropes to Leadership Camp.

6 Youth Leadership Camp Nominate Now Nominations are now open for SNSW swimmers aged years who wish to attend a 2018 Swimming NSW Lane Ropes to Leadership Camp. Nominations will close on June 29th The aim of the camp is to up-skill the young leaders of our sport in the areas of coaching, technical, event management, public speaking and personal development. They will gain valuable knowledge and experience which they can bring back to help create an environment at their own clubs which encourages teenagers to keep swimming. The camp levy is $100 per swimmer and we encourage the clubs to cover this cost as a way of recognising their young leaders and encouraging them to attend. There will be no other costs except for getting to and from the camp. Buses may be arranged to assist out of area swimmers with getting to the camps if required. The camps will be in September 2018 and you must be available for the entire duration of the camp. (approx. 10am Saturday until 2pm Sunday) There will be a maximum of 30 places available at each camp (approx. two from each club). Locations and specific dates are: Tamworth (Lake Keepit) September 15th/16th Coffs Harbour Adventure Centre - September 15th/16th Dubbo/Orange (Lake Burrendong) - September 22nd/23rd Wagga Wagga (Borambola) - September 22nd/23rd Any questions please contact Sarah Koen sarah.koen@nsw.swimming.org.au
