The Cyclones returned to Norman to conclude the series sweep and drop OU to 2-7 on the year against ranked foes. The Sooners followed their matchup against Iowa State with a contest against No. 20 Kansas in Lawrence. OU dropped back-toback matches for just the second time this season when it lost in three (18-25, 29-27, 26-24). Oklahoma finished the regular season in fashion when it topped No. 25 Kansas State in four (3-1; 25-22, 16-25, 26-24, 25-14) to improve to 3-8 on the year against Top-25 foes. Against the Big Ten... Following a 3-1 win over Northwestern, Oklahoma is now in 37 matches all-time against Big Ten opponents. Under Restrepo, OU is 3-3 against the Big Ten, including a 3-1 win over Michigan State in the 2008 season opener and a 3-0 win over Indiana in Last season, Oklahoma fell in its only match against a Big Ten opponent went it faced former Big 12 rival and No. 1 Nebraska. Against the SEC... After a win over Arkansas on September 3, Oklahoma has won three in a row against SEC opponents to improve to all-time against the league and 7-4 with Restrpo calling the shots. The Sooners lead the all-time series with Arkansas, 4-3, their most common opponent out of the SEC. It was the fifth postseason honor for McLaurin who was named the 2011 Defensive Player of the Year and selected to the honorable mention All-Big 12 team last season. In 2010, she was awarded Big 12 Freshman of the Year and named to the Big 12 All-Freshman team following her rookie season. Additionally, she was one of seven players unanimously selected for the First Team, joining Kristen Hahn and Victoria Hurtt (Iowa State), Caroline Jarmoc (Kansas), Kaitlynn Pelger (Kansas State) and Haley Eckerman and Bailey Webster (Texas). Oklahoma joined Iowa State with two players selected to the All-Freshman Team with Doyle and Holst. Showcasing her versatility on both sides of the court, Doyle has been an advantage for the Sooners behind the service line with a team-leading 43 service aces - a season-best performance for any OU volleyball player since Barker last totaled 30 in With the total, she finished the season third in the Big 12, averaging.40 aces per set to lead all freshmen. In addition to her freshmen-leading serving performance, Doyle led all Big-12 freshmen and was sixth in the conference averaging 9.49 assists per set. Holst was fourth on the team and led all OU freshmen with 205 kills (1.90 k/s) and 72 total blocks (10 BS-62 BA). She was just one of three Sooners to total over 50 total blocks - joining McLaurin and senior outside hitter Morgan Reynolds. Sooners Finish Fourth... OU finished fourth in the Big 12 behind Texas (23-3., 15-0), Iowa State (18-7, 11-3) and Kansas (23-6, 11-4). Another 20 Win Season... Oklahoma recorded its 16th 20-win season in 2012, and fifth under the helm of Santiago Restrepo (2006, 2007, 2010, 2011). His 22 wins in 2012 mark the second time in Oklahoma history and first time in 27 years that the volleyball team has secured 20-plus wins in three consecutive seasons, following long-time Sooner coach Miles Pabst who accomplished the feat between , with records of 25-12, and 27-13, respectively Season Sweeps... Oklahoma notched its first season sweep of its 2012 campaign after it defeated Texas Tech in three on Oct. 31, and its second imediately after when it topped WVU in three on Nov. 3.
