A LOOK AT OKLAHOMA AS A TEAM 4 The Sooners have inked 14 sweeps throughout the 2012 season, including a five-match stretch from Sept. 8-Sept. 19, and six in conference action. Fifteen sweeps in one season is a program-record for OU, which has been accomplished three times since 1981 (1987, 1993), including once under head coach Santiago Restrepo in In that same time span, OU has notched 12, 10-plus season sweeps - three since Restrepo has been at the helm of the program. 4 Oklahoma had its best offensive output against West Viginia on Nov. 3 when it struck down 49 of 96 attempts with just nine errors to hit a season-best.417 hitting percentage on the night. A LOOK AT OKLAHOMA INDIVIDUALLY 4 Senior libero Maria Fernanda became the first player in Oklahoma history, and just the fifth in the Big 12 to surpass the 2,000 career digs marker with 471 digs on the year. (Cache) THE TOUGH ROAD OUT Oklahoma faces a tough stretch of opponents with three ranked foes in its final four contests of the 2012 regular season with No. 20 Iowa State at home on Nov. 10 (L, 3-0; 12-25, 20-25, 21-25), immediately followed by a trip to Lawrence, Kan. to face No. 22 Kansas (L, 3-0; 18-25, 27-29, 24-26) who held a 13-1 record on their home court at the Horejsi Family Athletics Center headed into the matchup against the Sooners. The contest against Kansas marked the third time this season that Oklahoma has battled in back-to-back contests against Top-25 opponents. The sequence first occurred when the Sooners secured a 3-0 win over then-no. 11 Kansas State, followed by a 0-3 loss in Austin to then-no. 9 Texas, then again with back-to-back losses against previously ranked No. 22 Iowa State on Oct. 20, followed by its first pair of consecutive losses with a 0-3 performance against a top-10 Texas squad. The Sooners close out the season at No. 25 Kansas State on Sat., Nov. 24. SEASON SWEEPS Oklahoma notched its first season sweep of its 2012 campaign after it defeated Texas Tech in three on Oct. 31, and its second imediately after when it topped WVU in three on Nov. 3. It followed with its third straight victory and third series sweep with a 3-1 win over Baylor on Nov. 7. The Sooners have two more opportunities to sweep Big 12 opponents on the season with Kansas State and TCU as they close out the remainder of the 2012 regular season. BOUNCE BACK The Sooners are 7-2 when returning to the court after a loss, bouncing back in good form, all but once. The exception occured on Oct. 28 when Oklahoma dropped its second decision in as many matches, the first equation of its kind on the year, when it lost to No. 8 Texas in three sets. Before facing the Longhorns, OU had lost to fellow Top-25 opponent No. 22 Iowa State. It then occured again when the Sooners suffered back-to-back losses against a No. 20 Iowa State and No. 22 Kansas Squad in the final weeks of the regular season. ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: THIRD TIMES A CHARM Freshman setter Julia Doyle was named the Big 12 Rookie in back-to-back weeks, announced the conference of on both Monday, Oct. 8 and 15, respectively, then again on Nov. 12. The first announcement came after she totaled back-to-back double-double performances. Against the Shockers, Doyle accumulated 44 assists and 12 digs to mark the fifth 40-plus assist performance of her freshman campaign, and added a pair of block assists and two kills in the Sooners efforts. In Saturday s matchup against TCU, Doyle notched 30 assists and 10 digs for her sixth double-double of the season and second in as many matches. The second announcement came after Doyle s performance against a No. 21 Kansas squad when she matched a personalbest 45 assists and added 13 digs to mark the sixth 40-plus assist perforance of her freshman campaign and seventh double-double of her career. In addition to her double-double against Kansas, Doyle matched an individual match-record for the second time this season after she recorded four service aces in the five-set loss. She becomes just the third Sooner in program history and first in two years, after Brianne Barker recorded four against Houston on Sept. 4, Chrissy Disarro was the first OU player to ever notch four service aces in a five-set match when she accomplished the same feat against Baylor on Sept. 24, The third honor came after she notched the eighth 40-plus assist performance of her career last Wednesday night in Oklahoma s 3-1 victory over Texas Tech with 42 digs. She fell just one dig shy of a double-double performance against the Red Raiders, with nine on the night. The young setter also added two service aces and five kills off of nine swings with just one error to hit.444 in OU s victory. RESTREPO S ROOKIES Julia Doyle s back-to-back Rookie of the week selection marks the fourth straight year that Oklahoma head coach Santiago Restrepo has produced a two-time Big 12 Rookie of the Week as Tara Dunn took home the honor twice in 2011 (Nov. 7, Oct. 24), while Sallie McLaurin was selected a program-best three times in 2010 (Nov. 1, Oct. 18, Oct. 12) and Maria Fernanda took home the honor twice in 2009 (Oct. 5, Sept. 20). The Plymouth, Minn., native took home the third Rookie of the Week honor, tying a program-record along current junior blocker Sallie McLaurin who took home three honors in when she received the honor on Nov. 12, REYNOLDS ROCKS Senior Morgan Reynolds totaled a personal-best 18 kills against Baylor on Friday, Oct. 12. Francie Ekwerekwu first accomplished the feat against Baylor on Nov. 4, SOONER SWEEPS Oklahoma has totaled 13 of its 19 victories on the season in three-set sweeps, which includes wins over Western Michigan, Air Force, North Dakota State, Duquesne, SMU, Arkansas-Little Rock, New Mexico, then-no. 11 Kansas State, TCU, WVU, Baylor and a series sweep of Texas Tech.
