1 VOLLEYBALL AUSTRALIA NATIONAL SQUADS In Octber 2013 the VA Bard endrsed the develpment f the Australian Beach Vlleyball System t deliver: Targeted investment mdel t teams wh have the prven perfrmance capability t qualify fr the 2016 Olympic Games thrugh the Tp 16 Olympic Ranking prcess and deliver an Olympic Medal perfrmance at the Games An identified chrt f athletes wh have the demnstrated perfrmance ability t cntribute t Vlleyball Australia s Winning Edge (AWE) Strategy fr 2016 and A natinal netwrk f accredited, decentralized beach vlleyball daily training envirnments (DTE) t supprt the grwth f beach vlleyball and deliver sustainable pdium perfrmances n the FIVB Wrld Tur and at Olympic Games. BEACH VOLLEYROOS AND JUNIOR BEACH VOLLEYROOS The establishment f the Beach Vlleyrs is a new prgram as part f the Australian Beach Vlleyball System. The fllwing dcumentatin is the initial utline f the Beach Vlleyrs and Squad structure and utlines the perfrmance evaluatin framewrk that will be implemented t align any investment made by Vlleyball Australia t the AWE bjectives. By selecting a VA is frmally recgnising teams wh, thrugh dmestic and internatinal perfrmances, have demnstrated an ability t perfrm at the required level aligned t Vlleyball Australia's Winning Edge strategy with the ultimate gal f delivering sustained pdium perfrmances n the FIVB Wrld Tur and at the Olympic Games in Ri 2016 and Tky The squad will recgnise athletes and teams that have the ptential t perfrm at the required level f the Beach Vlleyrs in the future inclusive f the FIVB Wrld Tur and the Olympic Games in Tky 2020 and the 2024 Olympic Games. These athletes and teams will have a decentralised DTE t deliver n natinal bjectives and will be managed by VA s Beach Vlleyball Pathway Manager and the DTE cach. VA will establish an evidenced based perfrmance evaluatin framewrk t ensure all resurce investment apprved t supprt squad members is aligned t the achievement f Vlleyball Australia s AWE targets. The framewrk will include Team and Individual perfrmance plans which will cntain technical, physical, mental/emtinal key perfrmance indicatrs (KPI s). The plan will als cntain the dmestic and internatinal cmpetitin prgram including annual perfrmance targets. This framewrk will evlve as VA cntinues t review and imprve the Australian Beach Vlleyball System. VA will wrk with teams and athletes t develp these key dcuments prir t endrsing internatinal cmpetitin participatin and the release f any resurce allcatin.

2 BEACH VOLLEYROOS The will be cmprised f the teams wh can cntribute t Vlleyball Australia s AWE gals. The Beach Vlleyrs is a team based squad selected fr cmpetitin purpses. The teams will be selected fr a 12 mnth perid cmmencing 10 March 2014 and will be reviewed between August 2014 and February 2015 based n internatinal perfrmances and achievement f annual perfrmance plans. Team perfrmances will be reviewed t ensure all VA investment is maximized t achieve the AWE targets. Teams may therefre be mved within the categrizatin (utlined belw), added t the squad r remved frm the squad based n internatinal perfrmance results and achievement against annual perfrmance plans. Details f the review prcess will be articulated in the annual team perfrmance plan. There will be a maximum f 5 teams per gender. Athletes will be required t sign a VA Beach Vlleyrs cntract upn selectin Beach Vlleyrs Teams will be selected based n their results and subsequent FIVB pints accumulatin frm the fllwing internatinal and dmestic events between 1 March 2013 and 3 March 2014: 1. FIVB Beach Vlleyball Wrld Champinships 2. FIVB Beach Vlleyball Grand Slam events 3. FIVB Beach Vlleyball Open events 4. AVC Beach Vlleyball Champinships 5. AVC Beach Vlleyball Events (excluding exhibitin events) 6. FIVB Beach Vlleyball Junir Wrld Champinships 7. Australian Beach Vlleyball Champinships 8. Natinal Beach Vlleyball Series 9. Australian Junir Beach Vlleyball Champinships The Australian Beach Vlleyball Ranking system will be used in future years as part f the selectin criteria. The will be selected by a panel cmprising f: VA s High Perfrmance Manager; VA s Beach Vlleyball Pathways Manager; A VA Beach Vlleyball Cach; and An independent selectr with internatinal playing and/r caching experience. Teams may be selected as part f the Beach Vlleyrs and the squads. Subject t VA Bard apprval funding will be prvided t teams t supprt attendance at apprved internatinal cmpetitins aligned t VA s AWE bjectives. T access cmpetitin funding teams will be required t submit a team perfrmance plan (templates t be prvided by VA) utlining the team gals in the daily training envirnment (DTE) and the cmpetitin prgram including targeted results fr the year.

3 The plan must be apprved by the VA High Perfrmance Manager, VA Beach Vlleyball Pathway Manager, VA s Senir cach f the relevant gender* and the team s DTE cach. (*where n Senir Cach is appinted, the VA assistant cach f the relevant gender will fill the rle). Teams already funded thrugh VA High Perfrmance Funding will be part f the Beach Vlleyrs squad and if their apprved cmpetitin schedule includes AVC and Cntinental events then this will be funded thrugh their team budget and the Beach Vlleyrs cmpetitin funding fr that event will rll ver t ther events. Beach Vlleyrs teams will be selected int Categries (1-3) Categry 1 teams Demnstrated capacity t achieve Wrld Tp 10 ranking and pdium perfrmances at benchmark events. Athletes and caches have cmpetitin expenses fully funded. Cmpetitin pririty: FIVB Grand Slams FIVB Open / AVC Champinships AVC events (where critical fr preparatin fr FIVB key events) Teams are centralized at VA s Beach Vlleyball Centre f Excellence in Adelaide. Categry 2 teams Demnstrated capacity t achieve Wrld Tp 24 ranking and win the cntinental cup final in Athletes and caches receive funding t supprt apprved cmpetitin prgram. Cmpetitin pririty: FIVB Grand Slam events / FIVB Open / AVC Events Teams may be centralized at VA s Beach Vlleyball Centre f Excellence in Adelaide r decentralized in their hme DTE. Categry 3 teams Demnstrated capacity t win key cntinental cup matches. Athletes and caches are nt funded but included in ne f VA s accredited netwrk prviders and supprted with training prgrams and access t Natinal Squad camps. Cmpetitin pririty: AVC events FIVB Open / AVC Champinships FIVB Grand Slam events Teams will be decentralized. It is pssible t be in the and t nt have funded cmpetitive pprtunities. NB: the 2014 will be selected n 10 March 2014 fr the perid ending 30 September Athletes will be selected based n a number f factrs including but nt limited t: Internatinal results Junir and Senir where applicable Australian Beach Vlleyball series perfrmance Australian Junir Beach Vlleyball Champinships perfrmance Attendance and Perfrmance at Natinal Beach Vlleyball training and selectin camps Other event perfrmance including Indr Vlleyball events Physical attributes Demnstrated ptential t succeed at the highest level. Athletes/Teams may be added thrughut the perid at the discretin f the selectin panel The selectin panel will cmprise: VA High Perfrmance Manager VA Beach Vlleyball Pathways Manager VA Assistant Cach f the relevant gender. Athletes may nt funded but included in ne f VA s accredited netwrk prviders and supprted with training prgrams and access t camps. Athletes will be decentralised. The activities (utside the DTE) in a typical year are anticipated t be: Late September 5 day pen selectin camp fr interested athletes Octber - squad selectins made January - Australian Junir Beach Vlleyball Champinships Late January Junir Wrld Champinship selectin camp fr squad January March Natinal Beach Vlleyball Series February Junir Wrld Champinships teams (and shadws) named March/April Junir Wrld Champinship team training camp June/July/August Junir Wrld Champinships preparatin and event 2-3 week trip dates are usually annunced January r February
