6 Championship Administration Unless otherwise stated in the Championship Handbook, all Horizon League regular-season volleyball procedures shall be in effect during the Championship. Awards The awards for Women s Volleyball will be given to the winners when they arrive at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Regular season awards will be given to the Regular Season Team Champion, Newcomer of the Year,Defensive Player of the Year, Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, All-League Team, and All-Newcomer Team. The awards for the Championship team, second place team, All-Tournament Team, and Tournament MVP will be presented immediately following the conclusion of the Championship. Bench and Uniform Assignments The home team will wear their light colored uniform and the visitors their dark colored uniforms unless otherwise agreed upon by both head coaches. The home team will be the higher seeded team. Teams must be in contrasting colors. Coaches Teleconference There will be a mandatory coaches teleconference to review Championship issues. The call will take place on Monday, November 14 at 11:00 AM EST/10:00 AM CST. Further information, including the call-in number and passcode, can be found on page 5 of this Championship Handbook. Hospitality A hospitality area for coaches, match officials, Horizon League staff, and the administrators of participating teams will be available. Hotels Each team will be responsible for its hotel accommodations. Locker Rooms Locker room assignments will be made by the University of Illionis at Chicago s personnel based upon match time. Each locker room will be labeled with team names. Officials Diane Plas, Coordinator of Volleyball Officials, will assign officials and lines people throughout the championship Horizon League Volleyball Championship Hand-

7 Parking Parking will be available in lot 5 directly across from the Flames Athletic Center. Administrators will need to contact Tonya McGowan prior to the championship to receive parking passes. Fans will be assessed an entry fee. Practice Times Practice times will be based upon seeding and travel distance. The practice schedule will be determined during the coaches teleconference. Pre-Competition Protocol NCAA pre-game protocol will be used. Should any match run long, there will be a minimum of 20 minutes of warm-up between matches. However, no match will begin before its orginally scheduled time. Prior to the first match of each day, teams will be allowed to warm-up with balls no earlier than one hour before match time on the playing court. Rules Both NCAA and Horizon League rules and regulations for the sport shall govern these Championships. Schedule of Events A complete Championship schedule of events can be found on page 5 of this Handbook. Seeding The seedings for the Championship will be released Sunday, November 13. Seedings will be based upon regular season league rankings. Please see Attachment A for the Championship Bracket. Squad Members Each team shall be limited to twelve (12) eligible players for Championship matches. Changes may be made in the designated twelve players for the different games. There is no limit on the number of players in uniform or personnel permitted to sit in the bench area. 8 Tickets As with any League Championship, only the official travel party and administrators of Horizon League institutions will be granted complimentary admission. Credentials will be provided for players, coaches, sports information staff, trainers, and administrators. Tickets may be purchased at the gate or in advance. All tickets will be general admission. Please call the University of Illinois at Chicago for additional information. Prices are as follows: Adult Tournament Pass $20.00 Adult Single-Session $ 6.00 Senior Citizen/Student All-Tournament Pass $10.00 Senior Citizen/Student Single-Session $ 3.00 Transportation Each participating institution is responsible for the arrangement and payment of all its travel relating to the Championship. Video Taping A team may videotape only matches in which it participates. The University of Illinois at Chicago will provide a videotape to each team following each match. Uniforms Coaches are reminded that all uniforms must conform with NCAA rules regarding commercial logos. NCAA Bylaw states that a student-athlete may use athletics equipment or wear athletic apparel that bears the trademark or logo of athletics equipment or apparel manufacturer or distributor in athletics competition in pre and post game activities, provided that the following criteria are met: a) Athletic equipment (i.e. shoes, etc.) shall bear only the manufacturer s normal label or trademark, as it is used on all such items for sale to the general public. b) The student athlete s insitution s official uniform and all other items of apparel (i.e. socks, headbands, t-shirts, wrist bands, visors/hats, towels, etc.) shall bear only a single manufacturer s or distributor s normal label or trademark (regardless of the visibility of the label or trademark) not exceeding 2 1/4 square inches in area including any additional material surrounding the normal trademark or logo. Please see NCAA Bylaw for a listing of regulations of uniforms. Turn north (right) to Harrison Street, then turn west (left) to Racine Avenue. From the North: Exit Kennedy Expressway westbound on the Eisenhower Expressway. Take first exit (Morgan Street).
